So I know it's not good to look up stuff on the internet but I came across 2 different things that sound very similar to things I am experiencing. The first is called Pudendal Neuralgia and the other is called Tarlov cyst. They both report having this rectal area discomfort, and urologic issues that mimic a bladder infection. They seem to have to do with nerves and the spine. I'm scared to even think about it if that's what i have - both sound horrible but again, very similar to what I am experiencing. I booked the MRI for Friday Dec 3. So far the antibiotic is helping but I still don't feel 100% and tomorrow AM is the last 1 I have to take for the 3 day treatment. I believe when I was researching the Pudendal Neuralgia it said that is associated with endometriosis on the nerve. I really hope that neither of these is what I have. Anyways, thought it was worth posting and see if anyone else has heard of these or been tested for them. The chiropractor said that the areas he's working on are also the same areas the note for the 2 conditions, the S1, S2 etc spine area. I also remembered that I slipped down the stairs in August - it was only 4 stairs but I hit the wall and skinned my right knuckles in addition to a sore butt for afew days. I wonder if I somehow really jarred something, that put the hips out of whack which the chiro confirmed already and something is still on a nerve that is causing all of this. Would almost make sense since the last 3 periods have been bad and that would correspond to the timeline of when I fell. Brainstorming right now....

It's funny that you mention falling down the stairs because I feel down the stairs twice a few weeks back (served me right for laughing at girl who fell over 4 times in a row) and that made the pain in my pelvis kick back off again. It's not what I'd call catastrophic by any means besides the pelvic pain I just had a sore tush but I'm wondering now if it was more than a coincidence with the numbness going to a whole new level in not being able to move.

Yeah, I totally think they are related. My chiro says my pelvis is pretty locked up right now. Needs to see me 3x a week for the next 2 weeks and then we can assess if there's been improvement or not. I think I jacked something good and I'd be willing to say the same for you. I don't recall my tailbone hurting but it's possible that a nerve is injured or inflamed causing this mess. Make sure you tell the dr. about your fall - it could be critical info. On a side note, I hope Keri is doing ok today, she had her barium enema test today right?

I guess any kind of jarring like that can kick off anything else that may be sitting around.

So I just heard back from my gyno's office, the swabs they did on Wed afternoon came back positive for yeast and Bacterial vaginitis. Has anyone else had BV before and does it cause these urine issues like I have had? I hope this is the answer. I used the monistat 3 day treatment over the holiday weekend but they said I need something stronger so I have a single pill to take for the yeast and a 5 day treatment for the BV, some sort of cream I have to use vaginally for 5 nights. I hope you all know about this and can assure me that you've had the same symptoms.

They are both very common and very very normal. They can both happen just cos your body is a bit out of whack. Just use the cream as directed and you should be right as rain! I guess it's possible the BV could get up the urinary tract but I'm afraid I'm not the expert on this one!

Could be the yeast infection is a result of those antibiotics... Darn things! Next time you have to take them, take acidopholus (sp?) with them - it reintroduces the good bacteria back into your body that the antibiotics are taking.
As for the BV, perhaps that's the cause of the new pain you've been having? I've had a friend that used to get them for a bit, they were quite a pain for her. Hope you get some relief!!!

Does anyone know if a pH testing kit would help her? My knowlege is lacking in this department. It just seems like you are out of balance and could probably benefit from getting your pH stablized so that these bacterias and yeasts stay at the levels they're supposed to be.

Yeah, they offer otc ph testiing kits to id infections & such, but they are expensive & only provide a few tests. Even then, they only suggest the POSSIBILITY of an infection...

We all have normal levels of yeast and bacteria. I was just wondering if a pH inbalance would be the cause of these infections because she has yeast and bacteria that are at abnormal levels causing her infections. I'm not sure though. It might be a good question for your doctor chicagogirl. I wonder if there's any connection.

I think it's the other way around - that the infections cause the pH imbalance.
I meant to add earlier that I bought some pH strips on ebay for next to nothing. If things feel a bit off I'll check the pH of my discharge but so far haven't found anything out of the ordinary. I know yeast pH and bacterial infection pH are on different sides of 'normal' pH (somewhere around 4, though you'd have to research for the exact number).

My theory is that I've had this BV for afew months now - possibly from when I had the first peeing issue on my first post. From what I have read, the bacteria go from the vagina to the urethra and can cause a bladder infection. Then I was on 7 days of antibiotics, felt pretty good but something felt like it was lingering, probably the BV still hanging around. Then I went on 3 more days of antibiotics, had a period, still not feeling good and on/off peeing issues. All of the antibiotics caused the yeast infection and none of the antibiotics I was on would have fixed the bv. I feel much better today after taking the 1x yeast pill. Last night was night 1 of 5 of the gel for the bv and most if not all of the rectal pain is gone. I am hoping this is the answer. I think I'm going to hold off and postpone the MRI for this friday, it might not be necessary. The chiropractor who first suggested probiotics was happy I was taking them - he's got some kind in capsule form that you keep refrigerated, those are even stronger than what you buy in the stores - I'm going to buy those once this 30 day supply I bought runs out. Seems like this BV can come back though - it says 50% get it back within 6 mths but at least now I know what to watch out for. I just didn't have the "classic symptoms" of fishy smelling discharge, hardly had any discharge. Oh well, hoping this is the final answer to my issues.

Fingers crossed that was it!!! And as for probiotics, yes, always get the refrigerated kind whenever possible! They are live bacteria (think yogurt cultures) and are much more useful alive (when refrigerated) than dead.

So annoyed. Period came December 16th. Dec 17th same darn thing happening again, hard to pee, pain in the back region etc. I was so bummed because I thought I figured this out. Period ends and I'm back to the same issues again - discharge is thin and watery, obviously the BV is back. I saved the treatment tube from before and some of the applicators so I called the gyno before leaving for canada Dec 23rd and they said just to take the treatment again so I started it on night 1 of my trip. Ugh. The entire trip I just didn't feel great. I am really getting sick of this. Next period we'll see what happens but I think I'm going to get that MRI done just to rule things out. I might also look into a colonoscopy as well ( it's free with my medical plan under preventative ). Tonight is treatment #4 - I still sort of feel like a UTI but I know it's the side effects of this gel treatment. So over this.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Not only is it mentally draining but to go through these physical effects is just too much. I hope they find out once and for all what is causing this for you so you can get the proper treatment. Don't give up...
