Thanks everyone. It's so nice to know there are others who understand! I will definitely keep updating as I go. My only concern at this point is getting a cyst on my remaining ovary. I am hoping this was my last surgery.

Don't give the cyst another thought - you can't worry about what if's, just rest up and heal and think positive healing thoughts into your body - don't think this sounds nuts but speak to the cyst and tell it that it has no place in your body and that you will not allow it in - really, positive thinking does wonders for the psyche!

Yes I am home. It's now almost three weeks later and I am recovering nicely! It has been a bit hard getting on regular food and having my bowels working but I am doing ok! Not much soreness left on my incisions and they are healing nicely. Still taking Ibuprofen for abdominal inside soreness ( if that makes sense). I tried to get Dr okay to go back to work and they recommended I take at least one more week off then go back part time for a week. I have begun to have some mild hot flashes (lost right ovary) but not to bad. In about three more weeks I will go see my naturopath to do bloodwork to see where my hormone levels and thyroid levels are at. I am resting, walking, doing some easy cleaning around the house and am doing well. I will continue to post updates ! One thing that has been sticking in my mind is Dr. Redwine telling me that ovarian endometriomas as a definite indicator of extensive endometriosis in the cul de sac and bowel areas. I kept thinking I didn't have it on my bowels even though I had the symptoms. I guess I was hoping! The first surgery I had the doc said the rest of me was fine and Redwine told me that you can't see it unless you look underneath in the cul de sac area and he said I was covered with endo. So I guess I am trying to stress the importance of seeing an endo specialist ONLY. otherwise women will end up with more surgeries than is needed. I am hoping this is my last. I have already noticed MAJOR improvement with my back. I had terrible back pain and now I don't feel ANYTHING. It's such a huge difference. So nice!! I can't wait to see how things go as I continue to heal. I'll keep you all updated and wish all of you girls continued improvement and better health. It is such a terrible disease!!!!

Fingers crossed you'll feel the positive benefits of the surgery for years to come. Let us know how the naturopath appointment goes!!

Thanks! I am still doing great at almost four weeks. I am starting to get my appetite back now and the only downfall I am having is my hormonal changes are kicking in. Is it normal for it to take awhile for me to notice a loss of an ovary? Does everyone go through stuff or some don't? Last night I yelled at my sister over the phone, then yelled at my son which I rarely do and then nagged at my husband, then realized I was being terrible and then cried. I eventually called it a night and went to bed but couldn't fall asleep until 3am. However I must say I am pain free and would trade the hormone stuff for the pain anyday!!!!

I'm glad you're pain free! I think the effects of removing an ovary probably vary from person to person. Plus the recovery process just sucks in itself too! Hopefully someone who has had an ovary removed will chime in soon and give you a better idea of what they went through. Get some rest and take it easy!

Hi, You may notice it takes a while for the remaining one to kick in as it may "fall asleep" or it will go a little nuts for a while. I had my left removed about four months before my right one and I had the same things your describing. Occasional hot flashes, mood swings, acne, etc... If you want more information on any of that check out Hyster sisters. They have lots of information about the varying things that can happen hormone wise. My friend just recently had her last ovary removed as it suddenly woke up with a vengeance after three years of not doing anything. She started having mood swings, acne and all those lovely teenager type things. She got sick of it and told the doctor to get it out! LOL

Glad you are feeling better. I have a cyst on the right side and was wondering when does a doc say it needs removed? Or if it will burst. I had one in the same spot and it did burst now its back. I am curious what Redwine has to say about the cysts?
