Thought I would keep a journal of my experience with Dr. Redwine. I sent in paperwork today. First off he requires a 125 fee for review of your case. Then you have to send it all your medical records to him. I don't know why I did this but I had everything sent to me first. I'm glad I did though because I just read through everything and found out that during my surgery it was discovered I had some endo on bowel in cul de sac and bladder. I never knew that!!!!! I highly recommend getting a copy of your medical records, breaking out a medical dictionary and understanding it all. It was so good for me!!! I went online and paid the fee and then filled out a questionnaire. They asked drugs you have taken, surgeries, pain you have, when you have it, where, how long, etc. They say it takes two weeks and then I will get a letter from him with recommendations. I will let you know what the letter says when I hear back.

Okay well still have not heard back. I am still waiting. It is supposed to take two weeks to hear back so any day now I will post what the recommendation is from Dr. Redwine. I know this sounds crazy but I'm hoping for surgery. I know I will feel better afterwards!!

Keep us posted! Since Dr. Redwine specializes in surgery, I'd be willing to bet that's what his recommendation is. I'm just saying... But, hey, if you need surgery, why not get it from one of the best, right?

Weird but right after I typed that post, it arrived. I received a book he wrote on Endo, a four page letter, two articles to read and two pages of instructions and information. The letter basically was a recap of what I told him and then what he felt was going on with me and recommendations. He feels that my first surgery did not fully remove the cyst and so it came back. He said the previous surgeon noted no other endo but he says that women with ovarian chocolate cysts normally have extensive endo. He also said based on several ultrasounds it did in fact look as if I had Adenomyosis. He told me two options 1. Hysterectomy 2. Presacral neurectomy. Because I am only three hours away he felt that I should come in for an exam as he can tell quite a bit from it and talk to me in person. So that is the next step. I will make an appt tomorrow. My husband wants to go with me so we may have to schedule a couple weeks out. I am ready for surgery but not ready for hysterectomy. This is the first time I have heard of the cutting of the nerves so will need to check that out. Also need to check hysterectomy. I was so against it but there really isn't any sure treatment for it. Diet has helped but …argh. I don't know. I got things to research and think about.

I made my appt for the 6th and today I received papers in the mail for insurance. He doesn't take insurance but they will bill the company for you. Payment is due at time of service. There were also papers in there about health history, pain survey and some other forms. Seems pretty good so far. One nice thing about this trip is that it is three and a half hours away from where I live soy husband and I are making a trip out of it. We are leaving Sunday morning and will spend the day in Bend, have a nice romantic dinner together and go to my appt the next day. Elevation at Bend is 4,000 feet I think, so driving there is somewhat exciting because of the snow. If it's stormy it could take us a long time to get there. My husband making this a somewhat romantic getaway makes it easier to look forward to.

That should be an interesting drive for sure! We don't normally get that kind of weather in the NW. I'm sure Bend is used to it though and I find the town that knows its coming get it cleaned off way better then like Seattle etc... Its awesome your hubby is being so great about this! I hope you have a great and SAFE trip. Are you in Oregon? I'm from washington, North central washington.

Thanks all. Yes I'm from Oregon. I'm about an hour and half southwest of Portland. We just got a new Toyota Sienna and it has anti lock brakes traction control so that will help! We just had a cold front come through so had some snow and very cold temps. So hopefully we have mellow weather on the way there! Here is a current pic of the pass to get there. www.tripcheck.com/popups/Cam.asp?camera=605&curRegion=5

I need some help girls. I am really struggling with what to ask dr. Redwine on Monday. He says he will be able to tell more after an exam. I have adenomyosis on top of endo and he says that the only cure for that is a hysterectomy. He said he also could do the nerve cutting thing. But says i may still have pain after that He never recommended the Mirena though. All these options scare me. I have read up on hysterectomy and it sounds like your Hormones are affected and it puts you into early menopause. But I read other things that say the opposite. I'm only 37 and don't think I want to go that drastic. However sometimes I think: ya know Im done having kids and this will handle the pain I get in my Uterus. Maybe I should just do it. The nerve cutting option scares me because then I won't feel anything. How will I know I treatments I'm trying are working if I have gone and cut my nerves?? Everything I have read about the Mirena scares me because women with adenomyosis as well as a tilted uterus seem to not do well on it. Seems like it's a 50-50 chance. I really don't know what to do or ask other than tell him my concerns about all three options! Anyone have any advice? I've done a lot of reading and still don't feel any close to a decision. I am seeing Redwine on Monday.

I'm in Bend now. Arrived yesterday. Snowing and 27 degrees here. I'm going to make a list of questions to ask tomorrow. I'll post here sometime after my appt.
