I hope it's ok too. Take care, everyone on the east coast!

So far we're good here in DC. This must be what they call, "The calm before the storm." It's kinda dark and creepy outside.

My husband's family (in the country southeast of Richmond, the capital of Virginia) has limbs falling everywhere, so it's hit there. It's still just at category 1, so it shouldn't be too bad in DC. I hope NYC will be ok--people in teh NE aren't used to hurricanes.
I always thought that they were a lot of fun, as a kid. Everyone hunkered down, the power went out, and there were just these masses of kids running around in teh dark for days. I'm sure the adults hated it! I got scared as a teenager, when my grandparents' house got levelled down in north Georgia, while we hid in the basement. But my poor grandparents--that house got hit by 3 tornadoes and 2 hurricanes, and at that point they decided that God had it in for them and moved up Appalachia to the North Carolina mountains.

This is my first hurricane! It hasn't really hit us here yet. I'm wondering how bad it will get. We have a lot of trees behind our apartment and I just hope they stay in place!

I've never been in a hurricane but our house got hit by a tornado when I was a kid and I'm still traumatized! I was at school but my dad was home. There were acres and acres of trees just behind my Dad's house that were flattened. We were lucky and only had some roof and structural damage. I hope all my girls out east weather the storm!

I have never been in a tornado but I think they are scarier than earthquakes and hurricanes. Every time we get a tornado warning here I FREAK OUT!

Our power has flickered a few times but still pretty calm. We took a bike ride down to the rivers a couple hours ago to look at them. Rainy, windy, but not bad yet.
This really is where my husband's and my essential southerness comes through. We've both been through several hurricanes and tornadoes, and we still feel like hurricanes are the excuse to party. Several neighbors are coming over soon and we're going to eat a pile of food (I've made a ton of endo friendly, vegetarian southern food) and, endo-diet be damned, drink while the winds blow the city down.

HAHA sounds awesome! I'm still trying to twist my husband's arm to have sex but he's not budging. I'm trying!!! No party for us. I wish I could. It's really windy up here in Germantown now.

Tell your husband that you HAVE to have sex during a hurricane. It's mandatory. Multiple times, multiple ways.

Well the hurricane is gone. We lost power for about 10 hours and now have power in half our apartment. Don't quite know why that happened! There are a couple trees that fell, the fence behind the building fell, and there's random branches everywhere. Other than that, it wasn't so bad. I didn't get any hurricane sex. He just wouldn't budge. Oh well. Everyone else ok??

I'm good--we seem to have missed the hurricane part here in DC. a couple of things were thrown over in our "back yard" (it's about 10' x 10', in a city alley) and busted up, but other than that, a bit disappointing really . I didn't need my windows blown in, but I do love wind. Glad you all have your power back, Jenaya.

Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as expected. The aftermath of Katrina and days I went not knowing where my family was made me think the worse. I think this time everyone was prepared
