We only have half of our power back. It's really weird. The crappy part is that the half of our apartment that's still out includes our refrigerator. It hasn't been on since 1am this morning and it's not even cold anymore. All of my endo friendly foods are going to spoil It runs on a special plug so we can't even run an extension cord to it. I wanted to go get ice but my husband doesn't seem to give a sh*t so we're just letting it all spoil. Can ya tell I'm frustrated?

Yeah, that circuit is probably still out since it runs on so much more electricity. That's crappy, though, that your food is going to waste! I still say run out and get some ice... You never know!

I'm so f**king pissed off right now. I told my husband to check and see if we can run a f**king extension cord to the frig and he told me it had a special plug. I took his word for it. So after we have a huge fight about how we should go get some damn ice to keep our food from spoiling (which he got mad at me for interrupting his stupid movie) he stormed out of the house to go buy ice and a cooler. While he's gone I thought, I bet he didn't even f**king check the plug like I told him to. Sure enough, the damn plug is a NORMAL f**kING PLUG. I grabbed an extension cord and now we have a running frig. Now he won't answer his phone, probably cause we are now fighting. If he had just listened to me we wouldn't be in this damn mess! I'm so angry right now I could throw something. The man is impossible and I'm losing my f**king patience.

He came home with his arms full of ice bags and three coolers. LOL! He got to the kitchen and saw the extension cord and a perfectly functioning frig and I swear, the look on his face was soooo worth the drama. It was so funny! Then he took his phone out of his pocket to see my missed calls and a text saying I fixed the frig. Maybe next time he'll freakin listen to me! Haha but the "aw damn it" look on his face was great! men I tell ya!!!

glad you at least got that sweet satisfaction, jenaya hopefully things will be up and running by tomorrow? i'm not sharing this to gloat, because we hae certainly had our share of weather catastrophes this year (floods & tornadoes), but today was so divinely beautiful and perfect! i kept the windows open all day with only three fans going, and it's stayed comfortable. blue blue sky, low 80s, gorgeous breeze, yum! perfect day for a hike but my body can't hack it, so i settled for a walk with the bf and doggers, and then read on a hammock in the backyard. in spite of insomnia of late, i'm looking forward to going to bed with a cool breeze coming in the window... hoping IRENE brings only frustration and rain...

We had very similarly beautiful weather! I spent some time downtown with friends, then some time in the pool. Just perfect! The windows are open, there's a nice cool breeze, can't complain. So glad you were able to enjoy the weather! And J, isn't that sweet satisfaction? Maybe now you can get that post-hurricane sex!

Some parts of Vermont got hit really hard, but we were buffered by the hills to either side. Mostly just a lot of rain and winds up to 34 mph. The creek out back flooded big time, but it has not reached the road or anywhere near the house (or any other buildings, as far as I can tell). Rutland got it up the wazoo... I have a friend who says she was told to evacuate but can't because she has nowhere for her animals. I told her if she could find a way out she could stay with us, but there's no way out of Rutland from what I can tell. North and west is flooded, east has a power line down across the road, not sure about south (but south is not towards us anyway). But she can't even get off her street!

I saw the news about Vermont! You guys got flooded so badly! Hope your friend is ok. It looks like things are back to normal here in Maryland. You can't even tell anything happened!

Well she's still posting on FB, so I guess she's okay. I think the water is starting to recede, but holy hell. Some of the roads are completely washed away in places. We're talking 4 lane highways. If I were to go out to Rutland it would take me 2 hours 40 minutes (normally it takes less than an hour). This is a major problem for me--my 9 year old rabbit has cardiomyopathy and has to go for checkups every 2-3 weeks. His next appointment is in two weeks. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do yet.
There was one confirmed death in Rutland and one missing person. Two men who were checking on the water main and stopped replying to the base of their company. So sad.

Aw wow that is sad. I heard on the radio today that people were complaining to the meteorlogists that they hyped up the storm too much. People are so f**king retarded. There was plenty of devastation and people died in this storm! Why would they want it to be worse? People should consider themselves lucky!

No kidding Jenaya. We definitely consider ourselves lucky. Between my specialized foods and the animals' food/medication, it would have been a crisis in our house if we had even lost power. But at least we'd still have each other (and all the critters). I can't imagine what that family must be feeling... both men are from the same family. The father is the one whose body was found, the son is still missing.
The good news is that just since last night the water has receded enough in some places to make roads passable again. I have seen pictures of Route 100 and Route 4 (the way I normally go to the vet), and they will not be usable for a long time. It's not just a question of flooding with them--whole sections of the road are missing. I will wait and see how quickly they get on it. It may be time for a new vet. Something I am not happy about because I love my vet and the only other exotics vet near me is supposed to be a total bitch and inept. But I guess if she just follows the regimen Dr. Bruce has been doing it will be okay.
