My bowel movements are getting worse. I am so afraid the endo is taking over because well my uterus is gone so it will just attack my remaining organs. My doc told me it was on my bowels and bladder and that is why I have so many GI issues. However what I did not realize is how much this would start to bother me. It feels like I have twitches of pain in my tummy daily. It hurts and I can feel the adhesions? forming not sure if that is possible or what I am feeling but it hurts. My lower back is horrible and I always thought that to be from my inverted endo covered uterus but I guess it is from the endo on my bowels? Do I even wan't to deal with this all again I mean another lap? another colonscopy? Gosh when will it end? I would like to wait it out and hope it goes away but from the look of this thread I do not think it goes away? How do I get relief they can not take my bowels out right? Well duh I need those but gosh I do not wan't to be back at sqaure 1 again. Any ideas anyone? What happens to a girl with endo after a hysterectomy do the docs give up on us?

Hi Keri, Amitriptyline has worked well for me some rectal pain, but 'going' is still difficult at times, well, most times. I've resorted to the occasional laxative, and GI doc confirmed today the amount I'm taking is ok, which is one Dulcolax every other night and maybe two at the weekend if I need to. There's no reason for you or your doc to give up, go see him/her and ask about it. Mebeverine can also help with bowel spasms, although I gave up on it after a while, you take one 20 mins before each meal and one at night. Something called Motilium, which is OTC, works well for me too.
Good luck!

I have bowel spasms, painful bowel movements, I have to go 6-8 times a day, it makes no difference what I eat, I have pain all over my abdomen, hospitals are useless, just keep bouncing me back and forth like a ping pong ball, had laparoscopy 2 years ago and that helped for a bit but now all this with the bowels too. What can I do to help? I can't take any more of this.

Have you tried eliminating possible culprits? Wheat, dairy?

I had every test done that I could to try and find my bowel pain, when I got the diagnosis this past year of Endo, I tried the diet, and have since been able to bring back certain foods.
But I have not had any pain related to my bowels since I eliminated Wheat, But it took about 4 weeks to feel any change. Now when I eat wheat, I have immediate bowel pain. I hope you can find what the cause is.
You might find it helpful to keep a daily diary of what you eat, and how the pain is. That way you can link your pain to food. Or you may find that is not food. Good Luck.

I think I'm having a breakthrough. Not eating normal milk seems to decrease my spasming contracting labout like pains aswell as reducing wind and bloating. I've also reduced wheat. Diet is SOOO important to women like us!

I though have been suffuring from dairriha and constapetion but I started noticing mucus and blood. I told my gyno about it and she said she didn't know and I probably have stomach issues. I'm worried I've never had problems with my bowels before and I was was shamed to talk about the mucus in my stools. Now I feel a little better to know I'm not the only one.

I'm glad I found this because I too have been suffuring from all of this but what really scared me was the mucus and the blood it happens all the time and I have gas all the time. I told my gyno but she says it has nothing to do with her but I have never had stomach problems until know. After I use the bathroom I have horrible cramps it sucks. I think it has something to do with my endo but my gyno says she doesn't know.

I have been away from the board for quite a while due to grad school and my busy life. I just don't feel like I have much time for personal things any more. LOL But lately I have been having a lot more issues with the pain during bowel movement.
I recently just had my second child, a son, in Dec. and the whole time I had postpartum bleeding I was getitng the same stabbing pains in my colon...only it wasn't just during bowel movements. It was happening spontaniously all throughout the day. It got to the point that it was making it hard to care for my newborn and toddler. I made an appointment with my OBGYN to discuss the issue and she told me that because my endo is not currently active due to the fact I just had a baby that it had to be hemorrhoids. I am honeslty not sure what to think. Has this happened to anyone else during postpartum bleeding?

re: Tiff This question was a few months back but I had that same pain with my kiddos post partum. The endo doesnt' magically go away after the baby comes out all though some people who co-sleep and nurse real heavy duty seem to have delayed symptoms. I remember going to a state fair with my son when he was tiny and still nursing and being absolutely miserable because of my bowels and spent an hour in the bathroom instead of walking around looking at stuff like I was supposed to. (didn't even now I had endo then, just thought I had "a sensitive stomach"...)

Look up something called Movicol - it's a powder you mix with water, it's a stool softener rather than a laxative, worked really well for me.

This is what I use when I have constipation. It works like a charm and it's all herbal!

Don't be ashamed to tell your doctor anything - they have seen and heard it all before. I also have the mucus issue from time to time - more so when I am having my period or just when it's finished - I go from the runs to constipation overnight sometimes. I love prunes - they really help me alot when I get stopped up plus I love how they taste to it's more of a treat as well.
