Oh no! Sounds like he's not a very proactive doctor. We dont' have anywhere near 1,000 active posters on here, and quite a few of us have endo on our bowels! I wasn't made to do a bowel cleansing, either, althought my doctor was working on my intestines. I think a bowel cleanse is probably a safe thing to do, though. What if he would have burned through my intestines? Eeek!
Curious as to why HE would go back in a second time instead of referring you to a specialist for bowel endometriosis. If HE is going back in himself, should he find it, why not just get it the first time?
My thoughts are to find another surgeon. My doctor right away suspected bowel endo in regards to my painful BM's.

My thoughts exactly. I am going to call his office tomorrow and give my OBGYN a call and make them both aware of my thoughts and tell them that I want to take the steps necessary to be pro-active before the 1st surgery.. the problem with finding a new Dr. .. this is the most respected surgeon for endo in my area and even teaches other Dr's in the area how to preform Laps... I've just decided to make it my decision and be my own advocate. I'll keep you all posted:)

I too have very painful BM's All the time not just when I have my period. Constantly constipated, no matter what I try. Has anyone ever heard of "white poop" I have had that several times and my GP says it must have been something I ate. I did have an ER Dr do test on my liver enzymes because he said that might have something to do with it. Everything was normal. I can actually feel my intestines twist sometimes. I went to a GI and he gave me some meds that actually slowed down my system went 10 day without using the bathroom. Thought I would die. I have tried all kinds of fiber additives and eating well. Nothing helps. Most everything I have read on here is endo associated with bowel with diarrhea, has anyone had problems with constipation nd it turned out endo on bowels?

Hi, I hope I am posting this in the right place. I don't know where else to turn to ask about this, so forgive me if this isn't endo related, but I don't know. I get cramping abdominal pain, associated with large bowel movements. The larger the stool the worse the pain . The doc thinks this is because the bowel is pushing against the endo. which is on my ligaments of the uterus. Has anyone else heard of this, or suffered with this? I hope someone else sees this and can help as I am feeling really down about this . The doc seems happy to dismiss this as the reason, but it isn't restricted to my period. I think, although I am going to keep a record, that it might be worse as I build up to my period? I am due in a week and the pain is horrendous today! Thanks all for reading this and being there! Sarah

Hi Sarah, I had endo on my ligaments and everywhere except my tubes and ovaries which has now been removed. It was the endo in my perineum (area btween the vagina and the rectum) and pouch of douglas that prob caused the most pain. I definitely had more pain with bigger movements, even though they were constipation. I found that getting my 5 a day and eating regularly and well balanced meals means I go at least twice a day, and my stools are smaller and much more manageable, so they didn't affect my endo in that way. Hope that helps

Hi Sarah I had a bowel resection and 40cm of small bowel removed. I was constiapted a lot of hte time and other times suffered diarrohea. Bowel movements for me were extrememly painful but i also had a large endo nodule on my rectum which also caused me a tremendous amount of pain and would need to take very stron pain killers just to prevent the pain when goign to the toilet.
In hindsight i shoudl have been more vigilent with my diet and avoided all teh foods that made me worse especailly caffeine!

Thanks both for your replies, it does really help to know I am not the only one, and I'm not going mad! Cheers Sarah

You know.... I never even gave it a thought to if my bowels could have a problem. I never thought of what I had being unusual or not normal. I know I go through different phases, different sensations of pain, and have read here from so many different perspectives, views and experiences and see bits and pieces of what I feel... Things to make me go... hrrmmm....... Will definately start paying much more attention because now I know, things are not quite normal, apparently.

I too have sharp shooting pains, travelling down to my vagina and/rectum. It makes my face contort like others have described, and it often takes my breath away.
I also have a swollen burning sharp pain in my lower left quad that is worse when I need to urinate. If I apply pressure to the right side or just above my pubic area the pain deferrs to the lower left and up around my hip.
*TMI Alert!* And like many of you guys I have weird bms' where at the beginning of my diagnosis it was never a problem. When it began, at first it was hard and then diarhoea, and has progressed to constipation followed by diarhoea. I've increased my fiber intake (not psyllium tho) and it has made going to the bathroom more painful.
Like Cherry mentioned, I too had/have endo on the cul de sac (which I understand is pouch of douglas endo). I've been having more severe pain in the last few weeks and wonder if it would be too extreme to go to emerg. Has anyone in this thread been diagnosed separately for this pain? I know Cass had adhesions, and reading that story has made me very concerned...

I am just after a bit of advice really, I've posted before that I have really frequent diarrhea like bowel movements probably about 6 a day which I think is too much. My last lap was in Dec 06 and I don't remember him saying there was any endo on my bowel (but he didn't go into alot of detail about where my endo was). I have pain around my ovaries, etc before a BM but it's not painful itself. I am debating if I should go back to my doctor. Does this sound like similar experience to those of you who have endo on your bowels? Thanks

I just had my first lap and got my first diagnosis of endo. I've always had trouble during my period with BM's. It feels like I'm giving birth to a terd:) Like its going to come out of my va-ja-ja instead of my rectum. Since my surgery, almost two weeks ago, I am having same pain for EVERY BM. I'm just wondering if this is part of the healing process and if it will eventually go away....

Oh so you can say 'terd' but not the real word for 'va-ja-ja' haha

Hehehe... Good one Cherry.
After reading this thread I feel that I will have to talk to my doc. because I have many of these bowel problems that you all mention here. As for Endo in the bowels being an "exotic endo" I would have to say that endo in its entiery is "exotic" since not many people are even aware that it exists and when you tell them that you have a condition that causes you extreme pain they look at you like you are contagious.

You know, so many doctors will blame ibs for endo symptoms and vice versa, and so many women have at least a change in bowel movements around periods etc, I don't see how doctors could call it 'exotic' more like 'expected' if you ask me!

Posted by tfaith in another thread so my ibs has been giving me a REAL hard time here lately....i haven't been taking my pain meds so i don't think it is because of that. i keep just getting constipated even though i take 4-6 fiber capsules a day, with plenty of water....which should be working good for me. somehow it is not. i usually do bentyl, which helps me daily but i am out. for more severe times, has anyone tried anything else to help with the cramping, bloating and bad pain? i think they are going to check my gallbladder too now because of how bad the pain gets; and i get gasy like and burp a bunch after meals...sorry for too much info but its the truth. i hate it!!!
