I haven't been going properly for about a week now, I think I have been eating badly though - not awfully, just a lot of junk (although still wheat free!). I went a bit this morning, but I have a UTI which usually helps me out, but it's not doing very much at the moment!

Chicagogal, it's not really adviseable to suggest that it's ok to take as much as you like of any supplement.

I echo that, we have to be careful to take everything in moderation or as instructed. Even too much water can drown you, the most vital thing to life on earth! I'm back to building up on the constipation. I won't forget that short period of time where my bowel behaved like it wanted to. I will miss you, regular and total vacation!

Cherry, I am having the same issue as you since my lap surgery 2 weeks ago. Your analogy with the toothpaste tube explains it perfectly. I'm going to ask about it tomorrow at my follow up. We'll see if she can offer any explanation.

Hi sorry I've only just seen this. When is your follow up? I found a solution of sorts, my painkillers harden my bms, so in fact they're much easier to pass! Still don't feel 'done' and still takes an age. I have a sigmoidoscopy in a few weeks, I made the appointment so that it's during my sister's period, which is when my bowel feels laziest. Unfortunately I've noticed that my bladder isn't emptying fully so my gynae's suspicions about my bowel problems affecting my bladder also, are seeming to come true.

Well, I've just about managed a BM this afternoon, first since Friday morning. I've been trying for a day and a half and it's been such an ordeal as I can't strain much after surgery. I'll keep up with stool softeners and hope it gets more regular.

Sigmoidoscopy in a couple of hours to see if we can find out the cause of my 'mechanical' issues. Fingers crossed we get some answers! I'm only nervous because they're going near my bum. Otherwise I wouldn't be bothered!

Eeek. I remember mine. Ask for the opening to be numbed with lidocaine! They weren't going to do this, but I was so sore from the bowel cleanse, that I knew I'd need it! Good luck, girl! Will they let you watch on the screen? LOL
