Constipation and toilet problems were the first inklings I had early last year that something wasn't right. I'd started a really healthy diet, loads of FAV, yet I was struggling to go to the toilet. I though maybe at first it was my body adjusting to the additional fibre, but it kept on like that for months, that's when I started going to GP. I found I went better/easier/more frequently when I laid off the fibre. Try fish and chips :-)

I should probably lay off the fybogel and try the mebeverine by itself? Looking at the expected reliving effects I don't think the mebeverine is doing sod all for me. Sorry for the bad language but the poo thing makes me grumpy. I don't want to start messing with digestive medicines when the problem I have just feels like a lazy muscle and not IBS-ish at all.

I get the lazy muscle thing, that's exactly how I feel. I think taking something to help move things along might make it a little worse. Mebeverine worked for me for a little while, in the early days.

my GI doc pretty much described my endo/bowel trouble as the endo and adhesions are pulling and tugging on the bowels here and there and making things not work right because the bowels aren't supposed to be all tied up like that. So its not lazy so much as its being pulled this way and that and the bowels don't like it. I thought it was a good description and I wish more GI doctors recognized the effects that endo has on the bowels!

Sounds like me most days!! It's funny, as I'm used to it now, however fybrogel never works for me anymore. I know it goes against everything, but try a cup of strong coffee, that always gets things moving!
I'm sorry you feel so rubbish Cherry and I totally get what you and Hels mean by 'lazy muscle'. I haven't been properly in days and I feel sort of 'full' but like my body won't help itself if you know what I mean.

For most of my adult life, a visit for a #2 happened because of a strong urge. I'm now finding that sometimes when I pop to the loo I realise there's something there, and with a bit of work I get it out. I wonder if that sensation is what normal people feel? I generally wait though until that 'I have to go, and I have to go NOW' sensation cos it makes things easier. My difficulty with bowel movements definitely changes throughout the month. And yeah, a strong cup of coffee can work wonders.

Hells - that's pretty much what it's like for me - often I'm almost 'holding on' so I'm not in the loo for ages when I go! And the changing throughout the month is the same as well - I'm in my 'good week' at the moment and find that bowel movements are definitely easier now, plus I have reduced pain which also helps.

Bravo, I'm officially jealous! I dropped my first mebeverine yesterday then forget to take the other 2 and no trapped wind. I feel like a naughty kid and not giving it a month isn't fair but I can't continue to inflict this added pain from the 'bulk' in my tummy and the discomfort and difficulty with bms I've added to... when I know the cause, I can't keep doing that to myself.

I can't do the coffee thing it hurts my stomach due to my long term use of NSAIDs and it would have my intestines in knots. I go regularly aside from this issue. I'm thinking maybe more soluble fibre instead, potatoes etc. I found out that in my last surgery my rectum wasn't just stuck to my vagina but was yanked right up toward my cervix, so I have unpleasant visuals of what is possibly going on...

Haha I don't eat fish and chips, haven't done for years and there's no reason why really! But I'll continue the path I was on and just eat more 'good' stuff and more soluble fibre, maybe that's why fish and chips is so good! All that potato! Now I really want a chippy though... The pharmacist I saw gave me the ok to stop taking this fybogel and mebeverine though.

So I was watching Dr. Oz, and they were talking constipation & poo issues. His suggestion (other than high fiber/lots of water) was magnesium - about 600-800 mg paired with about 1200 mg calcium. Thought it might be something worth passing along for those of you that have constipation and going issues.

I'll look into that Karen thanks, I think I have magnesium at home but if not I'll pick some up, anything that helps really! I have had a miraculous 2 days of normal function and 1 day of no pain at all! I couldn't quite make the most of it as I was horribly tired all day and in work but I went to sleep happy! But yep, it's that week after my sister's period, pure heaven in the poopy department hahaha!

Yep, magnesium worked for me. I'm just trying to avoid too many supplements in case they skew any blood tests I may have, but I think in a while I'll go back on it. Boots to a mag/calc supplement.
