Funny that pretty, I had the EXACT same experience with a GP last night. Been with the practice for around 8 months and it's the first time I've seen him, he's lovely. I went in with a written list of things for him, to save time. He was impressed/appreciative. He's agreed to see me on an ongoing basis, to kind of oversee my progress. I'm chuffed to bits. He's ordered all the tests I asked for, and then some. Only curious thing is, he said there isn't a test to actually check Vit D levels, but a test that checks for a bone profile, which checks a few things, and the results of that can tell him whether or not my Vit D levels are right. He also goes on a local daytime TV show and has close links with a local uni. Very hopeful I have a good one here!

Update:
Still turns out that, even if that one job I reaaaaaaaaaally wanted upped my starting amount, I wouldn't be able to afford it, what with an expensive (at least, prescription-wise) pre-existing condition, and the low max benefit amounts for the temp agency's insurance, plus having to wait once I get hired on as permanent at the other place... BUT:
My bennies at Sh*thole Central start February 1. This is good. That means that I can have this stupid gallbladder yanked out, and I can pay off the effing deductible and leftover balance from school with what I'd use to pay for meds... and might even be able to afford a car, all by myself, while I'm looking for work, elsewhere.
And if I have to go on benzos because of those jackasses, they'll be cheap, too.

Wooo hooo! I know you don't want to go back, but if you can milk them long enough to get some bennies, then there's a silver lining! Especially if it means you'll need some time off of said job to recover.

Good for you both! I have to say once again I am glad I don't live in America in terms of the complicated details surrounding sick pay and health insurance and other benefits!
My little sister (she's 22 but she's just my baby to me) has taken on the role of Mrs Christmas this year! I've clearly gone grumpy since my fever last week caused me Muppet Christmas Carol based nightmares, but she has taken up Christmas with good cheer, organising shopping trips and discussing Christmas dinner etc! This has made me truly happy, she's no longer a grinch!

I went to the gym this afternoon for the first time in weeks and I feel really good for it. Didn't stop the endo pain but helped with the muscle spasms in my back and did me the world of good mentally! I at least will sleep early and sleep well tonight

I asked for my old job back.
5 minutes later, I was offered a different position by my sales supervisor (I talked to the general manager right before), because they needed someone who knew what they were doing, really badly. I said, "I'd really rather have my old position back, but if you really need someone in this OTHER position, I want a raise, and I won't accept less than [figure]/hr. Period." I got what I wanted. No more sales, and the evil office manager has no jurisdiction over me.
Who knew that asking for what I wanted would pay off? I think it's the change in management. I wouldn't have been able to do that, before this guy showed up to clean house. Next up: Fixing my bod, and getting back in school.
EDIT: I do have to add that God was seriously looking out for me; I probably cried every day for 3 or 4 days, before having to go back, begging for strength just to drive over there and walk in. It ended up working out. I can't explain how perfectly everything worked out, once I made the decision to go over the office manager's head, and talk to the general manager. It was just the weirdest thing - I thought I would be nervous going in there (there's very little that makes me nervous, anymore, but something like this still does it), but it was just... easy. I'm still wondering how exactly it all happened.
