I figured I'd post this and keep editing it each time I find another "no-no" food that exacerbates my symptoms--either IBS or endo...not sure. 1) beef jerky!!!!! 2) chocolate --especially dark chocolate 3) too much NSAIDS (i.e., aspirin, naproxen sodium) 4) chamomile tea, surprisingly 5) too much stevia (natural sugar substitute) 6) alcohol (hardly drink it, but when i do...eeek!) 7) anything too sweet, sugar or high fructose corn syrup 8) orange juice--unless it is wayyyyyy diluted 9) ice cream 10) anything spicy!

I agree with your list. Even though I love jerky and Chamomille tea. Glad to know these have the same effect on others. Thanks for the help. Lynette

I'm not sure if my stomach problems are related to endo, or if I could also have IBS. I'll give you a scenerio and maybe I could get some opinions back - I'm sitting in a restaurant eating Thai food, and as soon as I am done eating I get this terrible pain in my stomach and feel like I have to get to the nearest bathroom. I find the nearest bathroom and come to find out that I have the runs. Shrug it off as food poisoning. Then I start seeing a pattern- Started feeling nauseaus and getting what seem to be "gas" pains in my stomach followed by the runs even on Chicken soup once. I just kept thinking that I had suddenly developed a sensitive stomach, especially to oily foods. Now that I've been diagnosed with endo, it makes me doubt the sensitive stomach idea. I'm also not sure if endo pains feel like gas pains or are they different. Does anyone else with endo experience major painful gas problems?

sounds exactly like me!!! They even thought it was gall bladder attacks, because it is so much worse when I eat anything fatty, so I had all those tests, but my gallbladder was functioning at 66%, so it wasn't the problem. I have had endo removed from my bowels twice now, and my gastrointerologist did a sigmoidoscopy...i got scoped ! eeek! but he didn't find any endometriosis on the inside, and no polyps to promote all the diarrhea, so back to the gyne. He said that even with the endo removed, once the prostaglandins (cause pain) reach a certain level, inflammation everywhere is the result, which can create something like IBS. I dont' know. It's terribly complicated. I just know that I have had the most relief by cutting out fatty and spicy foods and by taking psyllium husk every day. It's fiber and soothes the intestines. I think it is the best! I believe it is the same thing in Metamucil, but I buy mine in a big bag at a health food store.

I was beggining to think stomach cancer. My great aunt past away last year from a surgery to remove part of her intestine due to stomach cancer. She past away that night after the surgery. She was too weak from months of not being able to keep anything down after eating. She got to the point where green tea was all that she could keep down. Then I found out that all of her daughters have had surgery to have their uterus and other reproductive organs removed due to tumors and other reproductive problems. I was beginning to think that maybe I had her cancer because many times I feel very nauseaus after eating. You are right it is mostly after very greasy foods. I think that I may have endo in my bowels too, but before my OB did the laporoscopy and diagnosed endo, I had no idea what endo was or that all my other symptoms could be gyne related and didn't tell my doctor about my other symptoms. Now that I know its all related I'll make sure to tell my doc everything that I experience. It is so wonderful to have access to endo-resolved, I think that this sight has enformed me more than my OB ever did.

If cancer runs in your family...I just lost a 36 yr. old first cousin from colon cancer last year...then you should definitely let your doctor know. I think that is one reason my gastro was so keen on doing the sigmoidoscopy. He also said if I had more than one person diagnosed w/ cancer that he wanted to go all the way up and do a colonoscopy. Never hurts to rule any disease out! Most likely it is just from endo, but if you tell your family history, they'll most likely want you to get scoped. It's not that bad, the worst part are the laxitives the day before, but it was actually cool to see my sigmoid colon on the screen! I'm a biology geek, though Sorry if that was too much info . I think this site is really great! It is nice to have others who know just how you feel. I had never really had that luxury before.

I know what you mean about eating and then going straight to the bathroom. It's like your body doesn't want to digest the food. I had never thought about it being connected to the endo, until I started reading this forum. I have to keep gas-x next to the bed, because the gas pains will get so bad. It is amazing all the little things that actually go along with this stupid disease. You learn so much all the time, by listening to others.

I've never had one of those lollipops, either. The rest of the foods have the same reaction with me. I've been craving a mocha, but don't want the reaction from my body.

Oh MY!!
I am unable to eat many of these foods as well. White bread is just the worst, I get a bad tummy ache after. Another one of my no-no's is coffee or anything with lots of caffeen. It comes out both ends, I shake and have extreme pain in my tummy.
Do you think Endo and these symptoms are related?!? So weird

My doctor told me that endo can cause inflammation throughout the body, including smooth muscle like the intestines/bowels and that this sets up an IBS-like state, causing the things we've all added here to set us off.

No way,
I get diarrhea quite often through out the month, I just use to think it was due to my cramping. I guess in a way it is,,, and some foods just set it off worse then others.
This is just making more and more sense!!

You know, though. It may partially be from the cramping. Some foods seem to cause me to cramp really badly--the doc. thought i had gall bladder issues for a while. When I have "bad spells"...is what happens really from the food I ate--or is it from the cramping which the food causes? ? Hummmm! Good point, ann, and now I am confused, too
