leg pain-? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hiya everyone-I posted a message the other day bout my useless doctors-I have another quesyion I hope you dont mind. I have Just come on my period again(my last one was little over 2 weeks ago)Yesterday I had terrible period pain-Today although that is gone I have bad pain all down my right leg(the right side is the side in which my lower abdomen-where the ovaries are- that always hurts before I get my period)I was wondering if this was connected?especially as the last abdomen pain was the worst its ever been and today the leg painn is he worst its ever been. Also I was looking at a website and it said one of the symptoms of endo was getting brown or dicolured blood fo a few days before and after your period-I aways get this and thought everyone got it and that it was normal?

I'm not sure about the discolored blood. I've never had that, and I don't remember reading about it anywhere. I have read that getting cramps all the way down into your legs is a common symptom of endometriosis, and I have that as well, but not exactly in the way you're describing. For me the leg pain happens at the same time as the abdominal pain, and when the abdominal pain starts to subside, the leg pain goes away too. One thing I have been experiencing lately is really bad hip pain. In December my right hip suddenly started hurting--well it started out as pain in my lower back on the right side, which I'd had for a while, and then it suddenly spread to my hip. It just kind of started suddenly in the middle of the day, and I hadn't done anything to hurt my hip. Unfortunately, it's been bothering me ever since. Some days it's so bad I can barely stand to walk, and other days I hardly notice it. It seems to get worse with my period though, so I wonder if it's related to the endometriosis. I just don't know for sure if endometriosis can cause hip pain.

Hey guys, check out this article about hip pain and endometriosis. You'll probably have to cut and paste the link into the browser, because it's not formatting the html link right. health.ivillage.com/gyno/gynoendo/0,,674j,00.html

I also get leg pain while the cramps are lasting, but not before or after. It's a strong, dull pain (as opposed to sharp, piercing, or jerking pains, as with the cramps) that goes from my lower pack to my ankles every month. It was like that for years before I began having major endometriosis pains ("major" meaning having to go to the ER, and having pain outside of my period).
My hip has also started to hurt since the "major" pain. It's a needle-piercing/pulling sort of pain. I assume that it's lesions or extra growths that are pressing against some nerves. Massage helps a little for the hip, back, and leg pains.
And, I've had the discolored blood before and after my period for what seems like years. I figured it was normal, too. Katie, do you remember the website that told you that this symptom was normal for endo?

Thanks for that link ouchy. That seems like a useful website. That answer makes sense too, because I have endometriosis really bad on my uterosacral ligaments. I'm glad I read that because I was considering going to the doctor to figure out what might be wrong with my hip, and it probably would have been jsut a waste of time.

I also have/had endometriosis on my uterosacral ligaments, and I'm having extreme hip pain; however, the pain is in the same hip that I strained in ballet which never healed correctly. I also did something stupid at Sea World a couple weeks ago and re-strained both hips. So, now that I was just on my period...and we've been having lots of rain...I don't know which pain is from what--hip strain, arthritis affected by the rain, or possible endo. I guess I'll have to go a couple more cycles to find out more!

I have pains in my legs and feet during my period. I guess it has to do with endometriosis although I feel confident that I don't have any implants in my legs or feet (not that it isn't possible).

don't know if it's endo or just bad periods and bad luck, but i hope you find some relief soon

Does anyone have leg pain all the time? Even with out their period? My legs seems to have a painful ache to them all the time to the point where it is hard to walk Has anyone else experienced this? Even just sitting here they ache as though i have run a marithon. I went for a massage and they worked my legs and after they hurt even more but the next day it seems to be a bit better, but now i'm back to constant pain

I have always had pain in my thighs during my period--a dull, throbbing, achey pain. My right leg is worse, now, since I pulled the muscles and tendons in it from a fall this past year. It gets to the point where I'm hobbling around like an old woman.

In response to Hillary, I also have the leg pain all the time. Its gotten a lot worse in the past few months where I seriously feel like I'll collapse at some points. My knees also hurt so much to walk up and down stairs and even to bend to sit down. Not sure if that could be arthritis? I have no idea how to have that part diagnosed... but the pain in my legs has caused numbness and that pins and needles feeling in my feet that won't go away. I read that endo can become present on or near the sciatic nerve (the nerve that controls your legs) which could be something to look into.
Hope this helps a bit!

I also have sciatic endometriosis. The pain spreads from my lower back all the way down my leg into my foot. Unfortunately, that was one area where the endo was not excised/burned during my lap, so I'll just have to live with it for a while.
