I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis. I was diagnosed years ago. Due to my High Blood Pressure and being over weight, I did not want to take any hormones (Lupron) So the doctor washed his hands of me. I have lost some weight and my BP is much lower now. I start Ortho Lo, the doctor said I need to take some type of hormone to slow down the growth of the endo. The pain I have during my period is awful, I can really not function at all. The pain is really bad in my legs. Now that I am on the Pill I am having pains in my left leg. My doctor had a doppler done and there is no blood clot. Do you think the pill is doing something to the endo in my body to cause my leg to hurt and to cramp?
Thanks

Is the pain of sciatic endometriosis all through your leg or does it concentrate in any one spot? I've had pain in my right leg constantly for 15 days now and coincidently had a new gyno appt and an internist appt during that time. Both are insisting endo can't cause leg pain even though everything I've heard and read say different. My pain at times feels above my knee, beside my knee, in my calf, in my ankle; kinda moves around. Always starts in my back, then my groin, then my leg. I can't stand now for any more than about 5 minutes or I'll be in shear agony for the next couple hours. And it's there when I wake up as soon as I move.

i have leg pains without my period too. it feels like they are either just falling asleep or just waking up from being asleep. you know, like that dull aching that can get pretty intense? i get it really bad sometimes. i have found it helps to sit upright with my legs below me while sitting on a heating pad. it doesn't work as well if you put it on your legs, but for whatever reason, sitting on it helps me alot.

I have nasty, nasty hip pain. It feels like I'm being harpooned through the pelvis, and this starts days, and lately, weeks before my cycle starts... that is, if my cycle is more than 2 weeks apart.

Sunshine, It appears thru reading this thread that a lot of people suffer from hip pain. So, I guess that means hip. I haven't had hip pain but within the past year have terrible sciatic pain in both legs. Also during my periods have awful pain going down my thighs which was soooo weird the first times I had this. Also lower back pain. Ouch! You are not alone!!!

I also have some inner, and I do mean inner, thigh pain. It's weird... it's a little higher than the thigh "proper," though, and waaaaaay on the inside. Also, my knees tend to ache (almost like arthritis) before my cycle. I wasn't aware of how many others had the same joint/nerve problems before-hand.

Hey sunshine, my doc recently told me that that thigh pain I described to him is called "referrred" pain-think that was his phrase. He explained it as when some people have heart attacks, they get jaw and arm pain. Also, when I had my ectopic, my shoulder really hurt and remember at the time they told me that was one of the symptoms of an ectopic.
Weird huh? I haven't ever had arthritic like pain w/-or before my cycle but maybe I didn't notice because I'm so old. LOL

Hi all, new to the board but I have a question. Quick bio, 43 yo and currently on depo-provera to help with the symptoms of endo. I had very heavy and painful menses from age 16 till using bcp until 33. Was not dx at that point till age 35 when my hubby and I pursued fertility tx (including injectible meds and artificial insemination) using a fertility clinic. After nearly 4 years, the docs went in and dx'ed me with SEVERE endometriosis including bowel adhesions. Was told that they "didn't deem it necessary to perform the laparoscopy" prior to that cause i wasn't having any pain except lep cramps. We already knew I suffered from PCOS and had been treated off and on during the fertility treatments (usually using bcp) for cysts and my doc knew of the leg cramps. No insurance now and within the past 2-3 months the leg cramps have become almost unbearable. Aleve and Ibuprofen no longer help and the pain (from hips to feet) actually cause me to wake up and cry in the middle of the night. No other major pain to speak of. Has anyone else suffered from just severe leg pain(at rest). Thanks in advance, Dee

I am so relieved to hear everyone speaking about the pain going down your legs. I have this pain going down my legs for about six years now and I was just finally diagnosed with endometriosis after all these years. I also get the pain going down my legs and into my feet as well. This pain started when I went on birth control and I always felt the pain had something to do with my hormones. Is there anything to get rid of this pain? Since going on Lupron the pain going down my legs is really only severe a day before my period and when I have my period.

Hi, I have leg pain in my right leg constantly (unrelated to period pain), which gets worse when I sit. It is nice to know that it is normal for endo. The only thing I can find that helps with the pain is a heating pad. But the minute I take it off the pain returns, and it doesn't help at work. Does anyone have anything that has worked for leg pain?

My back went about 4 years ago, and developed sciatica about 6 months later, in left leg. It got a bit better bur for the last 18 months I've had non-stop hip and lower bacl pain, and the pain radiates down my legs, mainly the left. If I sit in an upright position, like in my chair at work or while driving it gets worse, as does the left side pelvic pain. At home I sit on my sofa with my legs out on sofa, and my back supportes but leaning back slightly. This seems to open up my pelvis a bit and things aren't so cramped up, and pain eases off a lot.

Hi, Thanks for sharing, I also find that my leg pain gets worse when I sit. I have a job that is on my feet most of the time, but if I do have to sit, it hurts within minutes. At home I also sit in a recliner with my feet up and a heating pad on my legs, which helps mildly. It's better than nothing....I'm starting to get a little down with how long some of you have been suffering with pain, with no releif !!!

Oh my goodness! I finally feel like i'm not going crazy. With all the crappy pain I was feeling with my endo issues, i was so frustrated when i started getting pain in my hips, thighs and inner leg/groin area. I thought i was losing my mind. I though 'this can't be endo, i must be just so out of shape i hurt myself', but it was happening all the time and i wasn't doing anything to injure myself. I'm so relieved to find out that it is the endo and that i'm not going crazy!

Sarjenka I think this is something even women without endo can sympathise with. Sometimes nerves get leaned on during periods that make us super grumpy cos we then end up with pain down the legs, lower back, inner thighs. I think it's the pain that makes me angry, the weird pain right down to my shin and in my hips! Oh my hip pain was found to be due to endo on the ligaments that hold up the uterus, just a heads up

I can relate, when I read that others had leg pain it made me feel better, and I had expected it to go away after my lap, but it didn't, I was so disapointed.
