I'm just wondering whether or not anyone else has tried natural progesterone cream lately? How effective has it been (for endo pains)? There hasn't been much talk about it lately.

I've been using it for some time, and I'm still not sure if it helps or not. I'll get a better idea when I take a break for a while, but I haven't done that yet.

Hi, Meka! I actually tried progesterone cream this past cycle, because I thought I could be pregnant, and I was trying to avoid miscarriage by taking progesterone supplementation. However, I got my period a couple days ago. The cool thing is that I have had NO pain, even less than with the black cohosh I was taking! I can't believe it! I thought it was implantation spotting, because that isn't supposed to cause cramps, but this has lasted too long. I think for sure it is my period, but I can't even really tell that I am having one. I'm bleeding, but there is NO pain whatsoever!!! I haven't had a single cramp! I'm in AWE!!!!
I used Pro-Gest, the new paraben-free formula, twice daily (morning and night) from ovulation until period (Well, I used it for 3 days past when I started my period, because I thought it was implantation spotting, but the cream did its job before then.).
All I can say is-------AWESOME!!!!!

Shakes, you might note that you're not using the cream after ovulation until your period, so you can't really guage the pain related to the cream if you're taking it counter to the directions. The way you are using it is intended for women in menopause or perimenopause, and if you still have your ovaries, judging by your age, you are most likely neither. The only way to really judge whether or not the cream will help you is to find out when your ovulation is and take it from then until your period. I know you don't have periods as you had a partial hysterectomy, but there are still ways to detect your ovulation so you can match your the cream w/ your cycle.

Well, I just got my period. Now is "truth time" for the progesterone cream this cycle. I'm not on the floor in pain, but I am uncomfortable. I'm definitely not at my worst, and I can still hold my head up and breathe and keep my eyes open--not all bent over in cramps. However, I just started about 20 min. ago. We'll see what tomorrow holds....

Okay...yah, so...obviously the cream is not working this cycle like it worked for me a couple cycles ago. What worked soooooooooo amazingly last time is NOT working for me this cycle, and I took the same amount and only used the progesterone cream both cycles. One cycle it worked like a dream, this cycle I'm almost on the floor now, and I've only had my period for maybe just over an hour now... I want to pull my hair out. I may not go to work tomorrow, because I don't think I can deal w/ the pain and be alert enough to drive at the same time. Great. I thought I had found some magical cure...

I have been thru menopause, had a hysterectomy many years ago have had ruptured cysts prior to hyster caused by endo, endless endo ops to clean up the endo to make life bearable and I have to say the last two years I have been on compounded progesterone cream here in Aust and it has been the best part of my life. I know as soon as a i get a back ache and the cramps start I have not used enough cream, up the cream and within say an hour it is all back to peace again. I do use progesterone cream non stop as per Doc otherwise I am back to square one with immense pain again.

Well, here's my update:
Progesterone cream doesn't seem to have an effect on my pain, but it does delay my periods by a few days. This is good because my cycles have always been short, which is the last thing you want when you have periods from hell. With progesterone cream my cycles are more on the short end of normal (26-28 days) instead of 23-26 days as they were before. To me it's worth it just for that. Also, it gives me a little bit of control. If my period is officially due on a Monday and I WANT it to come earlier, I can stop using the cream before the weekend and it will actually start on the weekend, sometimes allowing me to get the worst days over with before I have to go to work.
When I run out of the kind i have now I'm going to get a more reputable brand, so we'll see if that works better.

^ The progesterone cream also helped lenthen my luteal phase (time from ovulation until menstruation) also. Using the cream I can get about 2 or 3 extra days, bringing my luteal phase to a normal length Guess that makes 2 of us!

Hi there, I'm new here. I'm 31 and was diagnosed (finally) with Endometriosis and masses of ovarian cysts last year. I had two operations in the space of four months. During the first lap I had a Mirena coil fitted and have now had it for six months. I was told quite openly by my gynaecologist that it could cause problems to begin with, but I was determined to ride out the first few months. I had a great deal of bleeding for the first four months, nausea and pain, pain, pain, partly from endometriosis which could not be removed during the first operation Since the second operation in January I have been slightly better, but having pain on 60% of days. I'm also still having periods every 21-31 days, sometimes red blood and sometimes brown gunk (which does not seem at all healthy). I'm now at the point where I feel I have to give Natural Progesterone a try. I've read a bit about Emerita paraben-free Pro-Gest cream and having to do saliva checks to check for ovulation before using the cream. Of course, this will mean almost certainly having to have the Mirena coil removed before beginning this new treatment. I live in the UK, where I'm most likely hoing to have to pay for the cream myself. I will have to ask my GP about it...but doubt whether my gynaecologist can help much here. At the moment I don't need contraception as I'm single. Has anyone tried both Mirena and natural progesterone (either alone or together)? Was there a great deal of difference in the effectiveness? I would welcome your input. Happy Easter! Puddleduck
