I mean, so far the only good thing about this pill was that my bleeding was not insanely heavy (my normal non pill periods are very short, but I can't even go outside some days because the bleeding is so heavy and constant), so i don't know what's going on.

I guess i'm stopping this and switching to Aygestin, which is a MUCH stronger dose than micronor, so i'm a little scared. The doctor said it will definitely stop my period though.

jtean, is Aygestin a progestin-only pill or does it have estrogen too?
I am sad to hear this pill didn't help you more. Now I will have no one to talk to about this pill. LOL!
I wish you the best with the new med you'll be taking.

haha thanks!
Yes, it is basically just micronor in a much much higher dose. I think micronor is like, .35 mg, and aygestin is 5mg. I'm taking half the pill, because that just seems like a crazy high amount!
Anyway, micronor was obviously not stopping my period, or any of my inflammation pain, so my doctor put me on this, because it is a definite that your period will stop while you are taking it.
I've only been on it for a few days but i've had very little pain so far. I doubt I'll take it long term cause of the crazy high dose, but giving my body a break for a few months might really help me out.
If micronor doesn't work for you, it's something to think about, but it seems like you've had much better luck than me!

Yeah, I am mostly happy with Micronor. The pain is a lot less than what it was.
The only problem now is I don't ovulate, but I still have a "period." Obviously, it's not a real period, but I still have a period and don't know when it'll be. Last month it was not until CD35, so it was a rather long cycle for me, which I liked, but then this cycle I am bleeding again and it's only CD23. I thought maybe I'm just spotting as I usually do off and on while on Micronor, but now I'm having some menstrual cramps, so I'm thinking this is one of the "fake" periods. My "fake" period last month was great. Not much pain. There was some, but not compared to what I usually deal with during my real periods and it was basically only two days long, which was great!!!

I spoke too soon. This "period" with Micronor has been awful. Pretty much as bad as it was when I was not on anything. I don't understand it. The period I had last cycle with Micronor was awesome: barely any pain whatsoever. I didn't even have to take Ibuprofen.
This time, I had to. Augh, so sick of it. :-(

jtean - just wondering how you're doing on Aygestin. I've been reading up on it, but have seen a lot of symptoms involving the heart and that freaks me out. I'd like to try it though, but have to think about it and the side effects.

So far I"m doing great on the aygestin, and I've had none of the bad symptoms that people describe on those ratings sites. My only symptoms are: being very thirsty, having to pee a lot, and maybe being a little more emotional. No weight gain or acne or depression or anything like that.
I've only been taking 2.5mg until yesterday when i got some very light spotting. I decided to up my dose to the 5 that I was prescribed. It's time for me to have my period, and I definitely feel like i should be having my period right now (bloating, want to eat every brownie) but I have no cramps, and just very light spotting that i wouldn't even need a tampon for. I will definitely take this over a real period, or the constant period that micronor was giving me!!
And yeah, I've read about some scary sounding side effects, and I definitely don't plan to take this stuff long term because of how high the dose is...but I have to be honest, it's been pretty great so far after the horrible time i had with micronor.
It's a bummer that your period got bad again!! It would be great if micronor worked just because it is such a low dose, and i would think way better for you than other options.

I was more thirsty than usual when I first started on Visanne also. Specially in the morning when I woke up, I'd feel really parched. But that went away after the first few weeks. I did have a period the first month I was on Visanne. It was painless, but very long, so that might happen to you too. Lots of spotting and then a light period in the middle of it. But then 3 months after no period. So maybe that will happen with aygestin too. It's actually really nice! Although I'm worried that I ovulated earlier this week, so I wonder if I'll get a period. I hope not!
aygestin has some side effects involving the heart? People reporting in online or just in the drug info? I did have a high heart rate with hot flashes the first 2 months I was on Visanne, but that is gone now. But my dr. seemed to think it was caused by me going off the natural progesterone rather than from the new drug. who knows..... just glad it's gone. I still have mini hot flashes here and there, but nothing like before with the super fast hear rate (like 100 bpm). my usual heart rate is between 55 and 75 while sitting or lying down. It does vary that much. I have a heart rate monitor on my iphone, so I test it here and there. Mostly it's between 60 and 70 while sitting.

Yeah, i haven't noticed any heart trouble, but i don't have a way to monitor my heart rate or anything. I've never had any heart issues ever though. I read that some people said it raised their cholesterol, but I have pretty low cholesterol, so i'm not super scared about that.

From the reviews I've read of Aygestin, some people complained of it giving them palpitations. And that kind of worried me if I wanted to try it because I already have issues with palpitations and a high heart rate. I've had heart issues (tachycardia) for a very long time... I see a cardiologist often. Well, I have a lot of health problems on top of the endo, so I actually see a bunch of doctors/specialists. :-\

That, and my cholesterol is already high, so not sure if that would be good to take Aygestin if it would rase my cholesterol, but the interesting thing is... since I've been on Micronor, I had my cholesterol tested and it was actually quite a bit lower than it's been when I was on nothing, NO BC whatsoever. Makes me wonder if somehow the BC is lowering my cholesterol. Don't ask me how, but it's the only thing that has changed and now my cholesterol is significantly lower than it has been in a long time. Still high, but lower than usual.

Hmm, yeah, i guess in your case I would be hesitant to take it. Though, the fact that micronor might be lowering your cholesterol is really interesting, maybe aygestin would actually lower it for you even more? But the heart thing is definitely scary if it's already something you have to deal with...

I am not sure what to do now. I am still on a "period" with Micronor. It's going on 8 days (this is my fifth period taking it. I started taking Micronor in January 2012). Though most of it is just spotting, it won't stop! AUGHHHH. Have no idea why it's doing this when it hasn't done this for the first few months that I've been taking it and now it decides to do this?
TMI, but when I stand up from a sitting position after I've sat for a while or I go to the bathroom to urinate, a lot more blood comes out than just spotting. Otherwise, I just spot and only need one pad a day, but still annoying and would like the bleeding to stop already!
I see my gyn on Thursday. I will have to mention this to him and I am also going to mention maybe doubling the dose of Micronor or starting on Aygestin. I would like to double Micronor, but don't know if that is possible or if any other doctor has ever done that before. I would really enjoy not having a period for a while, but my body seems to enjoy it. :-\

I think I heard of someone doubling up on a POP, but not sure if it was micronor and can't remember where I saw it. This forum or another one.... Doubling it is still not anywhere close to the aygestin dose.
