The endo on the bowels def can come and go and even without my uterus and pinpoints of endo that my surgeon could not remove can still cause issues like this. Black stool, painful bm and abdominal cramping when you have a bm or right before. I found this little bit of information about the sigmoid colon and endometriosis which could be why some of us get told our endo is not that bad at lap when we are not menstruating. www.biomedcentral.com/1471-230X/3/18/Also a few facts about the sigmoid colon: Sigmoid Colon Where is the Sigmoid Colon? The sigmoid colon is the s-shaped curve in the last part of the large intestine or bowel just before the rectum. It is less than 16 inches in length and is curved like an "s." In Greek, the "s" is called sigmoid. The sigmoid colon is free to move somewhat and may be displaced into the abdominal cavity. The colon starts on the lower right side of the abdomen where the small intestine empties into the large intestine. The first part of the colon is called the cecum. The colon then goes to the level of the liver where it bends sharply to the left and crosses the abdomen; this is called the transverse colon. When the colon moves to the level of the spleen, it is called the descending colon. This goes down the left side of the abdomen to the pelvis where it becomes the sigmoid colon. What does it do? The colon (large intestine; including the sigmoid colon, rectum and anus) is the final stage of the digestive tract, which goes from the mouth to the anus. It is a tube that looks like muscle and is about 2.5 inches around. The main functions of the colon are to absorb water and minerals and make and eliminate feces. The colon contains 60 varieties of bacteria to help digestion and promote a healthy balance of vitamins and pH (acid-base) and to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.

I thought so too the case study reads like a intro thread on here. Any of us with the endo on the bowels are already what docs say "rare" but I bet its more common than people think.
Oh and my doc had mentioned that when woman have endo on the lungs they will spit up blood or have nose bleeds at ovulation or menstrurating.

I'm one of the 'rare' ones anyway cos most of mine is urinary tract.

Hope I've found the right place to put this.
Before I had my lap, I woudl bleed (vaginally) for 1 week - 10 days before my period, every time I pooped. and pooping was always painful, more so the closer I got to my period. Since the lap (almost 3 months ago), I've bleed some vaginally when pooping--a good bit last week, but I thought maybe it was just I was ovulating.
Today, I started bleeding quite a lot rectally, when pooping. It started out just a little bit, and then became a lot. I don't often have problems with constipation (I'm a runner, plus the chia seeds), but go several times a day, and each time today I was bleeding more. I even started wearing a pad.
This is sort of frustrating so soon after my lap, and is also a new experience for me. What could be causing it? I decided that the vaginal bleeding when pooping was because my uterus and bowel were connected with scar tissue, and so anything moving in the bowel would bump the uterus and, when I was close to my period, cause bleeding. I don't know if this is right; it was just my theory. But a bit bummed now with this new development, especially so soon after my lap.
thanks for any help, and for listening!

Wow! That sounds horrible! I have to tell you from a healthcare side..that is not ok! You should see your surgeon asap. Even if you do have scar tissue on your uterus connected to your bowel..it still should not cause that much vaginal bleeding. I'm just concered that it could be something else. This is gross, but would it come out into the toilet bowl or just on the TP?

Yikes that doesn't sound right at all. Can you get in to see your doctor soon? You shouldn't be bleeding like that.

Thanks you all. I guess I thought that the vaginal bleeding was normal--at least normal for endo. I've had it for a long time. I assumed the lap would fix it, and I've only had that a couple times since my lap.
The rectal bleeding was new, and it was quite a lot today--the toilet was quite red. I haven't pooped since around 2 and haven't bled since then, though I feel fairly crappy (no pun intended). Not terrible, but my ass hurts, my uterus is cramping, and my right side is pretty painful (this has been going on for a couple weeks though--I assume it's "healing" or something from the lap, since I had so much stuff removed from around and on the right ovary).
However, if this isn't normal for endo, I'll try to call my doctor tomorrow. Do you all think it's best if I call my new GP or the endo surgeon?

mm...I think it depends on how good your GP is? If your GP is just going to say "i don't know..you should see your surgeon", then I would skip that step and go right to the surgeon. Since you did have the ex-lap only 3 months ago..something go be going on in there and since the surgeon was in there..he/she might have a better idea.
Good luck!! I now only whipe with wet-ones..there are even these individually wrapped ones @ bed bath and beyond. So I keep them with me at all times..and it really helps with the burning after going to the bathroom.
p.s. you should feel crappy today..your body is going through something. Try to stay hydrated!!

I think you should maybe call both - I have bleeding when I have my period as do many of us, but is sounds like you're losing quite a lot of blood.
It's never normal, but if it's new then you should definitely see someone as soon as you are able.

thanks all.
I'm at one of my moments of frustrations with doctors. I called endo specialist/surgeon's office and talked to several of the receptionists/nurses. One of them caught my surgeon as she walked by, and I was really excited to get to talk to her.
Then she told me that endo almost never causes rectal bleeding and that I probably have hemorrhoids or anal fissure and need to eat more fiber in my diet. I told her I'm vegetarian and a runner and eat TONS of fiber, daily, and poop several times a day, so this didn't seem likely. But she repeated that endo almost never causes rectal bleeding, and that in my surgery I had lots of ovarian/uterine/bowel/intestine "involvement of endo" but she didn't notice any on my rectum, so this was unlikely. So, I should eat more fiber and "wait and see."
At teh moment, I'm frustrated, but I'll probably feel less bummed in a little bit. I had one of those stupid fights with my husband this morning over nothing--probably just because I felt so bad and was crabby--so that's coloring my mood. or colouring.
However, I guess I will wait and see, and if it happens again, try again.

I am so sorry you got that response. That makes me mad for you!!! I hate it when that happens. Why don't these doctors listen?? You are not just bleeding alittle..like an anal fissure would cause! Either way..you shouldn't have gotten the response to wait and see. I am so sorry.
Did you call your GP? Maybe he/she can actually lay a set of eyes on you tell you whats going on?
How are you doing today?

Eat more fiber to a vegetarian.... WTF. Have you considered calling your primary care? Believe it or not, fissures and hemorrhoids can bleed quite a bit but I wouldn't want to just blame it on that and let it go. Something isn't right. Has it gotten better at all or is it steady bleeding?

thanks for the kind emails! I just called the GP, and can get in today. I hope my positive impression of her from Friday lasts! Plus, apparently the results of my bloodwork are in, so I might learn something else too.
And, on teh bright side, it's only a mile from my work to the GP. Biking to the endo lady is 28 miles round trip and I DO NOT feel like biking that much right now!
It's actually weird, because I haven't bled at all today. But, I took iron since I was bleeding so much yesterday ...
thanks again, you all.

Oh, I hope your appointment goes well and your GP is more useful than the endo lady. No way that amount of bleeding is ok. Even if it isn't endo, it needs to be addressed. Eat more fiber? Is she kidding?! Ugh, the crap that comes out of medical professional's mouths sometimes!! Let us know how it goes with your GP. xx
