Damn. I was hoping it wasn't a "not enough estrogen" thing. That was the problem with previous BC pills I was on, but I can't be on the tri-cyclics, b/c they cause major depressive episodes, and VDM (vast, doughy midsection) for me.
Hopefully, that's not the case, though... I've also been tremendously physically stressed (bad - I believe I have gallstones approximately the size of Rhode Island), as well as mildly mentally (bad) and emotionally (good) stressed.

Ooh, I'm familiar with VDM and that damn depression! Nuvaring was the closest I could find to ok, but I think I'd have a tough time going back on it now.
Keep in mind that not-enough-estrogen doesn't necessarily mean there's really not enough estrogen, it could just be that there's too much progestin in there so it's throwing the estrogen balance off a bit. Does that make sense?

I agree with jjuls22! I think this is what caused my endo, but I will answere your questions.
I was on it for awhile. I did not get mood swings like I have on other forms of BCP. I got my period regularly (gurrr) I can not tell you if it helped my endo because I was just diagnosed and I stoped using nuva when I started having pains and then they decreased! (Gurr)
Its very easy to use and my FH said he felt it but not all the time!

Posting for the new member who asked about nuvaring--it was teh easiest BCP I'd used. Fewest side effects.
My husband only felt it occasionally, but if it's a problem, you can remove it for sex and pop it back in IMMEDIATELY after.

Haha I used to take it out for sex. That damn thing always came flying out during sex or sometimes I felt it. Other than that it was the best BC I ever used and it made my endo completely symptom free. If it wasn't for my blood clotting issues and the migraines I'd probably still be on it.

Well I'm hopping on the Nuvaring train. After a long talk with my new OBGYN today we decided it's worth a shot. Hopefully I will have less side effects and feel better on the Nuvaring.

Thanks Karen. I've never taken any hormones, but birth control pills so it will be interesting to see how my body reacts. I'm hoping it works. My OBGYN is hesitant to not have me on any sort of birth control just because of how extensive my endo is. We compromised and I told her I would try the ring. Fingers crossed!

I hope the ring works for you Nicolle! I loved it when I used it pre-endo. I didn't really notice any side effects, and my moods were a LOT more stable than with other BCP's (I'm super sensitive to hormone dosages... basically, the further the BC is from the "site," the more crazy it makes me, which is why I can't do that arm one, or pills. They have too far to travel). Now I'm using it continuously vs. allowing monthly periods, and the only negative side effect I've noticed is a bit of nausea on and off, but it isn't unbearable and it seems to only happen during the week that I should be on my period. I hope it's as successful for you as it has been for me!

Thanks ladies. I'm really really hoping this works. My OBGYN let me put it in and take it out just to try it which I thought was sweet of her. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Just gotta wait for my period and then I can put it in when it's over.
We'll see what my boyfriend thinks of it. I think I'm going to ask him if he'll want to play a game of ring toss. Hehe.

My husband could only feel it sometimes, but then he's not the biggest guy around. Dead average, in that department . However, I often would remove it just for sex, and then pop it in afterwards.

That's my plan if he feels it I'll just take it out and pop it back in. I'm glad we have a thread for this.
This is a strange question, but if I start bleeding from it as a side effect can I wear a tampon while it's in or should I just stick to pad?

Funny story about the ring toss... Happened to me years ago! My bf at the time pulled out and there it was!
Tampons are totally fine! I never had a problem with it coming out when removing a tampon, but was always something I was careful of.

Thanks Karen. I read through the thread and heard about the ring toss. I hope he was a good sport about it.
