Hi everyone, so happy I stumbelled up on this page the other night when i was in pain and looking for answers and advice. I am not yet officially diagnosed with endometriosis but my Dr has ruled out other things..I have now been referred to a gynocologist. My Dr told me there is no doubt in her mind that I have endo. I have at least three months to go before i get into see a gynocologist which is frustrating as the pain is unbearable. I have tried different meds but nothing seems to help the pain.. The pain is constant..not just when on my oeriod, but the period is like someone is ripping me apart inside, throwing a pary on my ovaries and you get the picture... I been in so much pain but no point in going back to my dr at this point as i feel like i just have to wait the three months or so to see a gynocologist...The other night i almost went to the local emergency room..but changed my mind as not sure that would help any either really.
any advice welcome.....
Thanks

Hi and Welcome
Make sure you research the Dr you are going to see. Many have found the Endo diet to help. Read through the threads you will find so much usefull info and the support you will find here is amazing.

Welcome to the board! For me, the waiting was the worst... I went from doctor to doctor for a few months, in constant pain every single day. When I finally got an appointment with a gyn, I was thrilled until they called me to cancel and reschedule for months later! When I broke down on the phone and said I couldn't wait that long, they made something work. Phew!
If you're really struggling in the meantime, find things that you can take control of. Some women find acupuncture, yoga, diet changes (cold turkey, just a little bit here and there likely won't do much unfortunately), meditation, etc. are all things that YOU can focus on while you're waiting for someone else to be available.

Where are you located? Can you get on a list for cancellations? Check out the threads on diet changes, that might help you make it to your appt. Also, if you are in enough pain for the ER you can go for pain management, you deserve to try to be pain free (even if it's only some of the time).

Thanks everyone Yes waiting is frustrating, I try not to think of the pain but when in pain not thinking about it doesn't really happen. I am waiting for a book on the endo diet so i can figure out how to go about it...I eat very healthy but thinking i may have to still change my diet as may be eating thinkgs that aggravate the pain like dairy products. I am hoping to start making some some yoga classes too, hopefully that may be of some help I am living in Canada, Newfoundland, I just found out that I can go on a cancellation list and may be lucky enough to get in earlier but hard to say. Also found out that the gynocologist I am seeing is suppose to be really good So that is some good news atleast. Thanks for replying means a lot

Ah sweetie you can't wait 6 months! Is there another gyn? Some members have had success by being a squeaky wheel - keep calling up and let them know how bad it is.

I am hoping to call today to get on cancellation list and going to tell them how bad the pain is.. I feel like their is something ripping through me today...every couple minutes i get a strong shooting pain i just think if only the pain would stop a little i would be happy. I wish i could explain to people especially my Dr how bad this pain is...Having a lot of pressure "down there" too like something is falling out... I hate too say too much as do not want to sound like i am complaining... oh my but this pain is not one bit fun. shooting pain again... is this what we have to live with for ever? or do it ever get better?

I would def try everything you can to either get into that gyn earlier, or find another gyn. Failing that, don't hesitate to go to the ER if the pain is that constant and sharp. There are other issues that could be causing it and you want to make sure you are being safe and looking after yourself. I hope you are able to find some relief soon.

Thanks. I have considered the ER but feel silly going...afraid all they will do is want to give me meds and not look for the problem. But I may go to ER if pain do not subside in next couple days..i started spotting the past few days and bleeding today so pretty sure my oeriod is about 5 days early...so do not want to go to emerg with that problem. I guess also I am very caustious to have a male examine me and not sure if this would happen at an ER. would they do an exam on me and want to look internally if i went to the ER? I have no clue what to expect really with all of this..will see how i am tomorrow but i tend to always talk myself out of going to ER and even Dr....as not sure she can do much more till i see the gyn. This is a horrible way for us to have to live day in and day out Thanks all for replying though helps me feel not so alone.

I thought the exact same way when I was in a lot of pain and felt like something just wasn't right with my body. I was encouraged to go to the ER while waiting to see a specialist, but did not go because like you said, I thought they would give me a couple of pills and send me on my way. Go with your gut. You know your body and if you are miserable you deserve answers. Best of luck!

If the pain continues to be as bad as it is, go to the ER. Your appendix or cyst might be rupturing. I was diagnosed because I went to the ER and they saw that I had a few large cysts and they were rupturing. I was admitted overnight and had surgery the next day. I had no idea about endo before that. So don't feel like you are wasting their time.
During my ER visits, they normally try to do an ultrasound. They wanted to do a transvaginal ultrasound when I went to the ER the first time, but said it would be hard since I was so young and still a virgin. So they did a regular one. A few years later, when I already knew I had endo, I went to the ER and they did a pap and a transvaginal ultrasound. They also might take a swab sample. After my second ER visit, they just gave me meds, but they sent the ultrasound results to my gyn so that she was able to schedule surgery.
If you go to the ER they can do ultrasounds and ask them to have a copy sent to the gyn you need to see. That might make the gyn choose to see you sooner. If you have an ultrasound done, ask for the results and maybe a copy on a cd. Having an ultrasound can help speed up things and if you have a copy for yourself, you can try to find a different gyn who might be able to see you sooner.
