Thanks for the encouraging words! I would encourage anyone that was thinking about it to try it! I should caution, though - there are 'colon cleanses' out there that do no more than to stimulate your body to clean out your colon fast in a not so pleasant way. Those can be damaging and dehydrating, and just plain unhealthy. The Standard Process detox that I'm doing is all about giving your BODY the who food nutrients it needs to gradually clean all that stuff out by itself. No crazy bouts on the toilet with this one, it's all very gentle, and it goes way deeper than just the colon!
Went to the gym for a workout and weighed in (I don't have my own scale). It's official - as of today, I'm down 9.9 pounds from when I started!! It's hard to explain, but even though I have a nasty head cold, I just feel so healthy! I've lost weight quickly before in a non-healthy way, and this doesn't feel like that AT ALL! I feel strong!! And I feel AWESOME!! My skin has cleared up, I look better, and have more energy and clear thoughts. Amazing. I feel so in control of my health at the moment it's insane!

Well, today marks the end of my 21 day detox. I FEEL GREAT! In the last 21 days I: - lost 10.5 pounds! - lost 20.75 inches overall! - I'm almost down to my pre-lap weight (and I'm a good 20 pounds from my goal weight), but my measurements are WAY down from my pre-lap measurements. No more bloat! - I lost 3" off my knockers!! I'm no longer spilling out of my bras! - Feel a TON HEALTHIER - Feel like I re-set my tastebuds. I haven't really been craving much after the first week. - Portion control seems like no biggie now. I certainly didn't starve myself at all, but I ate healthy and healthy portions. - Feel like that panicked oh-my-god-I-have-to-eat-right-now jittery feeling is gone. My stomach growls when I'm hungry, but I don't feel all hypoglycemic and crabby like I ALWAYS used to. - I'm so much more confident with my body, and feel like I might actually NOT cringe if someone were to see me nekked, and I've been turning heads again! - PMS AND my period were a complete breeze - My clothes fit a ton better, and I'm probably about 5 pounds away from fitting into the smaller size that I've been holding onto for a good 2 years. - I feel like I can feel all my muscles working, and they feel good! - I've been sleeping like a log, not waking up in fits in the middle of the night - My long-lost libido seems to be back in full force. Didn't expect that one! - I wake up feeling energized, and have gone a full 3 weeks without a drop of caffeine. - Drinking tons of water no longer feels like a chore. Seriously, I think this is the best thing I've ever done for myself!! Here's the link to the program: www.standardprocess.com/display/psppurification.spi

I haven't done a cleanse/detox in a while and figured I had a bit more time until I have to do a pretty rigorous supplement regime. So, I decided on a whim this morning to do a cleanse! I'm not doing the Standard Process one again, though I'd really like to. It's a bit more than I want to spend at the moment and my doc's office isn't open this morning and I'm itching to get started! I swung by Whole Foods and got a recommendation for Cleanse Smart. I start today! It's a 30 day cleanse and focuses on the 7 channels of elimination: Liver, lungs, lymph system, kidneys, skin, blood, and bowels.
My goal is to eat only fruits, veggies, lean protein, and some grains. This is what most of my diet already consists of, but things like nuts, the occasional sweets, chips, etc. have snuck their way into my diet, too. No more! I'm hoping this will get rid of the bloat and water weight I feel like I'm carrying around all the time. Wish me luck!

Sounds awesome! I could use a good lymph cleanse myself! Let me know how you feel after! I'd be interested in doing one.

This is a different cleanse than the one I've normally done and I can tell it's not as thorough, BUT, it's the end of week one and I'm down 2 pounds. I'll take it! The diet on this one also isn't a strict as the one I usually do, so I think that's part of it. One week down, 3 more to go! I finally had a really big poop this morning! Have had the urge all week and have had some small ones, but felt nice to have a big one and let it all out! Ha ha, TMI?? The best thing is that the bloat is really going down and my clothes are fitting much better. I feel like my belly from my ribs to my waist is almost flat, though my abdomen still has the bloat bulge. Progress though, right? Oh, and I feel like my thighs have slimmed down. I always seem to gain water weight in my thighs of all places. I've been really horny this week, too, and am not sure if it's related!

Eh, nothing worth writing home about. If I do another detox in the future, is either go back to the Standard Process one or try a different one. I'm just not having the results I'm used to. Oh, well.

So... since I'm down to a few pairs of pants and I just keep gaining weight for no good reason, I'm back on the Standard Process cleanse. If any of you are interested, just google it and you'll see other people's experiences with it. I swear, it's the best of the best! Just got my supplements today at the acupuncturist today and will start tomorrow morning.
The program consists of: - Cleanse supplements (7 pills 3x/day for 7 days). - Green food supplements (5 pills 3x/day from day 8-21). - Shakes - made up of green food powder, fiber powder, and whey powder (for protein). I can add whatever fruits/veggies I want to it.
From day 1-11, I'm vegan. Only veggies & fruits at a 2-1 ratio, tops, a small bit of olive oil, and 1/2 cup rice or 1 cup lentils a day. Day 12-21 I can add a small portion of protein - fish or chicken. The goal isn't to starve yourself, but to only eat foods that are nothing but good for you. The last two times I did it I easily lost 9-10 pounds in 3 weeks, and since I have more to lose this time, I hope I lose even more. But, the way I felt after I got past the first week or two was totally worth it. Amazing how good you can feel when you eat nothing but good and give your body the nutrients it really needs! I don't think it'll be as difficult this time around since I gave up some of the stuff I can't have on this cleanse a long time ago (caffeine, gluten, sweets, etc.).
I was thinking about this today - we know in order for plants to grow, they need enough water, nutrients in the soil, and sunlight. It's obvious by comparing plants that are grown in ideal conditions vs. plants that aren't which ones are getting what they need. But when it comes to humans, somehow, that idea seems completely foreign to a lot of people. I know I certainly stray from time to time, but doing this cleanse always makes me feel like I'm giving my body the best possible conditions to thrive.
Wish me luck! I'll be taking my starting weight and measurements tonight!

Sheesh... just weighed and measured myself. Quite a wake-up call. I'm very anal and have a spreadsheet of all my stats through the years. When I lose weight, I tend to record in it more often, but... All in all, at the moment, I'm not the heaviest I've ever been, but am a few pounds shy of it... Yikes! Most of my measurements are smaller than my worst, though, with the exception of my waist. I'm a curvy girl and a smaller waist is one thing I could always count on, but these days, my pants are super tight in my waist so I'm not too surprised that my waist is much bigger than it ever was. I blame my endocrine system, but hope I can get my waist back in the next 3 weeks. Oh, and I took 'before' pictures this time. I'll post them with my 'after' pics when all is said and done. It's always quite a transformation!

3 days down, 18 more to go. This is WAY easier than the other times I've done it. Usually the first few days were killer - headaches, fogginess, bloating, constipation, etc. This time around, I'm pooping like a champ since day one and I only had the slighted bit of a headache a day or two. I think I can credit the addition of a high-protein powder added to the mixes. I met my dad for lunch yesterday at some greasy diner (he knows no other kind of restaurant) and had to settle for a side salad with only a teaspoon of dressing and a side of the veggie of the day. The waitress looked at me like I was crazy but I didn't care!
I'm only down 2 pounds so far, but it's still super early and I'm already feeling some slight differences. By this time next week, I'll be able to introduce some chicken or fish!
Once this whole thing is done, I'm going to do a month of supplements for parasites. I was complaining to my acupuncturist about some massive huge zits and she asked if I had them on my ass, too. She said that's almost always a sign of parasites?? Luckily, there are some supplements to help out with that. I figure if I can get myself all cleaned out between now and then, I'm hoping they work faster!
I'm sure I must sound like a crock... But if I'm feeling better, I don't care!!!

I'm really interested in doing a cleanse. Glad it's going so well for you Karen. I'm going to talk to my naturopath about doing one when I see her next.
