Ok, so here's my day 7 check in. Before I started, I weighed myself and took my measurements (bust, pecs, ribs, waist, abs, hips, upper thighs, lower thighs, calves, arms). As of today, I'm down 3 pounds and 7 inches. I know that's not a ton, but for a week, hey, I'll take it! One week down, 2 more to go.
I'm getting a bit sick of all fruits and veggies, but it's been tolerable so far. And tomorrow I can have MEAT! I think I'm going to treat myself to scallops tomorrow night. I have a good recipe for scallops and asparagus. Mmm...
The first few days, I felt really bloated and yucky. I think it was my body's way of fighting the detox - that it was trying to hold onto everything - but starting yesterday, it finally feels like my body is letting go of it and I'm feeling less bloated and gross. In my thigh/butt measurement, I lost 2.5 inches alone, and I'm down 1 inch on each thigh! That's where I need to lose the most, so YAY!!!!!
On another note, I've been off caffeine for a week now and I'm getting used to it and having energy without it in the morning. And, I feel like (as of yesterday) my energy levels in general are up. I feel the start of a head cold coming on today, but I'm hoping I can keep it at bay.
The absolute best part of this whole thing? My pain levels are almost non-existent! The last few months, my pain is really not much of anything most days (except period/ovulation), but I still usually feel at least some fullness (if that makes sense?) in my lower right pelvic area with various burning sensations throughout the day, although it's really not that bad. The last few days, though, that fullness feeling is completely gone, and I've only had a few twinges 5-15 minutes after I eat, and that usually goes away within the hour. Who knows if it's related to the detox or if it's just where I'm at in my cycle, but I'll take it! I've been feeling great!!!

Wow, that's great news! Three pounds is three pounds and it's not really healthy to lose more than that in the week. I'm glad you are having less pain too. I would definitely like to try something similar at some point down the road.

Supposedly, my chiro said the least he's seen someone lose (when following the program to the T) is 14 pounds in 3 weeks, and the most he's seen is 41. I know under normal circumstances, a few pounds a week is normal, but since this is getting rid of crap in your cells and intestines, not just water weight/fat, it's a bit accelerated. At least that's how he explained it. We'll see if I'm one of those people or not!
One more thing to add - I'm done taking those godawful cleanse supplements each day. 7 pills 3x a day, and they have cayenne pepper (which I HATE), among other things, in them, so that's all I could taste. I seriously gagged down every single one of those suckers! Now I'm on to green food supplements - 5 pills 2x a day. Here's the ingredient list: brussels sprouts powder, kale powder, and alfalfa powder. They don't smell nearly as bad as the cleanse ones! I still have to have shakes every day with fiber powder, protein powder, and another concoction that has a ton of other whole foods in it, but those are tolerable. Not great, though... It'd be better if I could mix yogurt with them, but no dairy is allowed...

I hear what you are saying with the weight loss, but keep in mind you have been eating healthy for quite some time and are thin. Who knows how much those people weighed or if they were eating a steady diet of crap. Usually with regular diets, it's the people who eat the worst that have the most success in that initial phase. Maybe it means that you are pretty darn healthy.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I likely have better habits and less to lose than many of his patients. But, I do have quite a bit to lose. 30 pounds to get me to my comfortable weight, and another 15 if I wanted to be 'skinny' (which I don't, have never been able to maintain). If I can drop 10 pounds from this and gain some momentum to lose the rest, I'd be completely content. If I can lose any more than that, I'd be ecstatic! But, not really getting my hopes up about losing too much. More the health benefits in the long run.

Oh, my sweet meat, how I've missed you...
Chicken in my salad for lunch, and scallops over brown rice and asparagus for dinner. YUM!!!

So day 10 and I'm still doing well and sticking to the plan. Well, with the exception of skipping a shake or two here or there. They just aren't that great to make me want to drink them all the time. Not horrible, but still... I've had a few temptations here and there, but I'm committed to sticking to the program. In the grand scheme of things, 21 days isn't the end of the world.
Now that I can have small portions of protein 2-3 times a day, it's getting a lot easier to look in the fridge and find something to eat. And my pain is still at bay. We had a photo shoot today and I made the mistake of wearing the wrong shoes, and with all the walking around we did, my feet were killing me. I noticed I didn't have any of the pulling/adhesion pain that I normally have on days like that. Yay! We'll see if I still feel this great when my period comes... Fingers crossed!
My goal for this week is to get more exercise in. I did a workout DVD this morning and my muscles still feel great - like they're getting the most out of the workout. It's a strange (but good) sensation - hard to explain.
On another note, I have a killer of a sinus infection. Ugh, I hate these things. I feel like I'm talking with a clothespin on my nose!

Day 13 and this is the first day that I cheated a tiny bit. I had a sinus infection brewing as of Friday that turned into a full-blown nasty cold today, so I went to the deli section of the grocery store and got some cream of chicken and wild rice soup. There was only a tiny bit left and I had to scrape the thing to even fill up a tiny cup! It's weird - it tastes very rich, I think my taste-buds have kind of reset themselves.
And I suspect my period is coming soon. The aches and pains from the cold have been creeping in, but I never recalled having them in my uterus, too, from a cold. Yay - just what I need. On the upside, I'd rather have a cold when I have my period to mask things at the new job. If all goes well, I may get hired on permanently in a few weeks and I want to be at my best. Unfortunately, I had to go home sick today, which means I don't get paid which sucks.
But, all in all, the detox is going well. Much easier when I can have small amounts of protein! The funny thing? I just noticed that my two little rolls of flub under my boobs is gone! It seems that my body above the waist is responding better than below the waist, but I'm seeing improvements all over. I haven't weighed myself, but if I had to guess, I'm only down about 5-6 pounds total. But, hey, I'll take it. I'm curious to see if I still blow up like a balloon during my period...

So I was getting ready for work and realized that even though my period started today, my clothes still fit!!!!!! Normally I feel like a stuffed pig the first few days. The other thing I noticed? I got through the PMS phase without any salty snacks! I found myself rummaging through my cupboards the other day seeking something salty out, but in the end, decided it wasn't worth cheating the detox (and I couldn't find anything besides a measly sweet-and-salty granola bar...). Imagine that - I skip the salty stuff and I don't balloon up! We'll see how the next few days go...
I was talking to my sister about the detox last night and she was amazed at how simple it was - basically eating more like people 100 years ago did (with the exception of the shakes, of course). Whole, natural, non-processed foods. I'll DEFINITELY do this again, likely 2x a year, and will incorporate a lot of the ideas in-between.

I’m on day 14 and I figured I’d check my measurements and weigh in again. Holy crap! From when I started 2 weeks ago, I’m down 6.5 pounds, and I’m down a 13.5 inches overall! I’m not at my pre-lap weight (when I started packing it on), but my measurements are below what I was when I went in. YAY!!!!!!!! And I think it’s worth noting that I’m on day 1 of my period, which typically has me retaining some water, although with the detox, who knows if I am this month or not. Of notable measurements, so far I’ve lost: 1.75 inches off my bust, 1.25 off my pecs, 1.5 inches off my abdomen, 4 inches off my hips!, 1.5 inches off each my upper thighs, .75 inches off my upper arms. Any my muscular areas are staying steady, so I’m not worried about losing this unhealthily! I’ve been noticing that my cellulite is really starting to smooth away and isn’t nearly as noticeable on my thighs, butt, and upper arms (how does it get there, anyway!?!). I feel like my lumps are getting replaced by the curves I’m so used to and so much rather prefer! I wore a pair of pants to work today, and usually when I sit down, the zipper creeps down as well due to my lovely gut. Guess what? Didn’t happen today! Honestly, I just feel sooooooo much healthier overall. My muscles feel more alive, I've never been more regular in my life, and my skin is waaaaay better! Anyone that thinks a healthy diet and exercise won't do any good is WRONG! If I can lose 10 pounds overall, I’ll be completely ecstatic!! This last week, I’ll def be exercising more. The cold threw me off this week…

Amazing I am glad I got to read all your progress! I have been wondering the past few days how it all is going for you. I think that is so neat about your period. No salty snacks if you can maintain that then you periods will be much easier to get thru and you won't feel as bloated. I think the sweet stuff is what bloated me up I always needed a pie or cookie LOL! What are you doing for exercise? We got Jacob the WII for his birthday and I am going to get the WII fit. YOGA TIME for Mommy when he is at school thats the only time I can play on it.

Right on, Olsenka!! This is inspiring to hear about! I am sure I need to detox too.. after my issues over the past year or so with progesterones etc my system needs a good clean. My skin is showing signs of things not being in balance. My accupuncture/TCM doc is prescribing chinese herbs to help "build and move" my blood so I can increase my "chi" and get strong enough to do a detox and more active exercise. For now, I'm going to start with some Qi Gong or Tai Chi.
Keeo up the good work! We're rootin for ya.. Thanks for sharing your experiences and successes!
