Just dont get me started on insurace. Bastards. I have a different bitch. Four weeks post surgery, my parents live an hour away and my dad just can't understand why I don't want to drive to see them this weekend. Uh dad, I am tired. I have to work tomorrow. I am trying to convince myself and husband why I need rest. Do I have to reiterate it to EVERYONE? You would think that he would understand since he was there for the surgery. Apparently you can't appreciate the fatigue this causes unless you experience it.

That sucks. Family can really be difficult to deal with. What is he saying when you tell him you don't feel well? Maybe tell him you would love to see him but if he can drive to you it would be much better because you still aren't feeling 100% from your surgery.

Wendy- can you work with the gastro so he/ the office can help you appeal that? Make sure it didn't also require a referral from your PCP (I went to a specialist visit and they told me they never got the referral- but fortunately I had it in hand because I'm all over my insurance). That sucks, fight for it (what do they think, you just walked in and demanded an MRI?!)
Ladyolivia- we have invited some family to visit us since we always drive 2 hrs to see them, but they've bailed or said no twice now in the last month. Ugh, it can be very frustrating, and I know sometimes you just don't want to have to explain that you don't feel well.

I talked to him on the phone for one hour today. He really was just upset because my grandmother who my parents are caretakers of was really being a pain today. She has dementia and is 97. She is a real challange. We are all dreading putting her in an Alzheimer's unit. However it is coming down to it. He is great to come see me when he can. I love my folks but I hate letting them down. Thanks for the encouraging words:)

Ladyoliva, I hope things go better with your family situation.
I was going to try to go to my dad's this week, but I can't stop throwing up. It's been going on for about 2 weeks now, so I don't think it's the flu. My dad always wants me to come over more, but it is hard for me to go there if I'm in pain.
I would probably be a hindrance at my dad's right now since he just had a really bad seizure and fell into the piano and split his head open. My sister had to lift him off the piano and pulled apart her surgery wound in her bellybutton. My dad had to have 35 stitches and he went to a crappy hospital that did a pretty bad job of stitching him up.
I told him that he can at least be Frankenstein for halloween.

My oncologist cancelled on me, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so livid pissed off I can't even see straight. This is the second time now. The worst part is that they can't schedule me until DECEMBER! This is such BS. I was supposed to see him in JUNE! The first time he cancelled I was extremely understanding and didn't make a huge fuss. I know people are sicker than I am and need him more than I do so I just let it go. I threw a fit this time and asked if I could at least get my scan done and if it's negative then he can just talk to me over the phone. They seemed to be ok with that but it still pisses me off that I keep getting cancelled on.

Is he ok now?? I'm glad you can have a good sense of humor with him about it at least. It just sounds really scary

I should be posting this on the "LOL of the day" thread but I think this clip from the Ellen show fits so well with my recent gripe about insurance not covering the same tests for women as they do for men. She makes fun of the pen company Bic for making a pen specially designed for women only. She's so funny! I love Ellen!
