Okay, for the sake of keeping this "fest" alive I'm posting my 2 cents....
Nothing like a loong, slooow day at work when all I can think about is what still needs done before my surgery. I know it's not until Feb but it feels like it's right around the corner and my to-do lists seem to be growing not shrinking! Aargh!

It must be something about the day. I've been having sparatic pains too. It sounds like you're having them worse than I am though... hopefully they don't last long!!

It must be a rotten day. I had terrible pain at work today also. I had trouble getting anything done, I was told to go home several times and once again got the "why don't you just have it all cut out?" advice from my (female) boss. Don't you just love that one? Not!

Add me to the list... Had a good day, but as the day wore on, I developed a raging headache. I never get these. Can't see straight. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but that's what it seems like.

I was going to complain about having to get a 2 hour long MRI today but it seems like nothing compared to what the rest of you are dealing with. This year seriously needs to turn around for the better. It can't suck this badly already!

Sorry, ladies. what a day.
My bitch is that I completely froze today. I had my acupuncture appt, and was too busy at work to check my phone. So I biked out to my 6:30 appt, not realizing that it had been cancelled. It's 14 miles there, 8 miles back. and it's freezing today. I made it there, but I was badly chilled. Once I realized the appt had been cancelled, I sort of broke down--I couldn't face the 8 miles back. I finally warmed up enough to try it, and made it only about 1 mile before I was sobbing and shaking uncontrollably from the cold. By mile 4 or so, I couldn't even operate my gears or brakes and sort of crashed into a 7-11 in Mount Ranier (a town on the border of DC). My hands were so frozen, I couldn't unhook my backpack or operate my u lock. Fortunately, a nice guy hanging out in the parking lot for reasons best known to himself helped me lock up my bike. I was sobbing and shaking the whole time. Went into the 7-11 nad tried to warm up, but didnt' make it. After about 10 minutes, my hands got to where I could operate my phone, and I had to call the husband to come pick me up. It sucks admitting I'm not tough enough, but the pause between the 14 miles and the 8 miles was jsut enough for my sweat to permeate the bottom layer of clothes/gloves, but not enough for it to dry, and the wet combined with 20 degrees and a really strong wind just did me in. It's been hours, but my hands and feet still hurt badly at the tips, though I've finally manged to stop shivering.
However, there is a bit of a comic piece to it. Just imagine me: 3 inch heels, face mask, big puffy child's coat, bike helmet, small white girl sobbing in a 7-11 in a ghetto neighborhood. I love DC, but that was too many miles in teh cold!!!

Oh, Kristen, I'm shivering just thinking about it!!! I wish you would have caved and called your hubby sooner. And why don't you bring a change of shoes, missy!?!?!
Can you take a hot bath, warm up? When I'm that cold, it takes me hours and hours.

I'm doing better today. Hands still sore, but made the morning commute ok, even though it's in the teens. I tried hot baths, tea, soup, all to no avail, so I finally just went to bed last night--that's always what I have to do when I get too cold. I'm not going to warm up until I go to sleep. My temp was in the low 95s! And don't get the wrong impression--my winter heels are leather boots, not stilettos, so with 2 pair of socks they are actually pretty good, generally. It was just the short pause between teh miles--enough to let the sweat get cold but not dry--that did me in. plus I'm a wimp about cold. i hope everyone else is feeling better.

Kristen, that sounds awful!! You are really tough for just going out in the first place - 14 miles!!! I've been in pain for days now and yesterday was absolutely awful like most of us it seems!! The heating in work was broken and I find my pain is excruciating if I'm tensing which I was all day yesterday (I also think this is why orgasms hurt me too). Today I've been pain again but caved and took painkillers stronger than I usually would for work. Also, my boss is a complete *insert horrendous expletive to awful for most of your eyes* I hope you guys are doing better today.

RM, you are the most courageous and persistent bike commuter I have ever known! As my sister always says (hiker and triathlete) cotton kills!! I hope the rest of the week pans out better.
Gem- heat and cold totally throw me off. I hope they fix things at work quickly!

Gem, I hope the heat is working again. That is so horrible.
