Halibut cakes with paleo style mayo, almond flour. I LOVE this website. Some stuff is paleo, some not but everything is made with 100% whole fresh ingredients. The author is a private chef in Chicago tummyrumblr.com/post/19247198416/halibut-cakes

Thanks! Just got Well Fed in the mail the other day! My only issue with paleo eating is that I can't eat eggs, citrus, butter/ghee, nuts... And it's suggested to avoid nightshades as they can aggravate auto-immune conditions. So even then, I'm quite limited!

Hey Karen. Eggs shouldn't be a super big deal - I only use them in breakfast but meat and veg is just as good to me now. I also use hardboiled eggs as snacks but there are lots of other good snack options. For fruit, I focus on berries mostly, anyway, but their are a ton of good non-citrus fruit options. I eat small amount of nuts now and then but I wouldn't miss them if I couldn't. Butter/ ghee can be replaced by coconut oil, lard, and tallow (grass-fed or pastured sources, organic at least, if grass-fed is not an option) if you are trying to cook with it. Last night I made rumaki and sweet potato on the side. I know you aren't ready for liver, yet, Karen, but this is an awesome way to eat liver. Many liver haters who have tried it say they cannot even tell it's liver. Half-cook the bacon in the oven at 400 degrees. Cut the liver (I use chicken or goat) into about 1 oz. pieces and marinate w/ cooking sherry, ginger and wheat-free tamari (optional). Put on slice of water chestnut and a piece of liver on a half strip of bacon, wrap, and secure with a toothpick. (The bacon is nitrate-free from local pastured pork and the liver is from pastured chicken or our goats that are grass-fed) At that point, you can continue cooking in the oven, flipping them once. We also have been taking these to the beach and grilling them in a basket lined with foil so the bacon grease doesn't cause a huge grill fire Sweet potatoes are awesome if you like them. So easy to cook and the have them around the house when you are ready to eat. Now that it's summer, I love making fresh "sauces" for meat. I keep cans of capers around for these. Take a handful of fresh mint or parsley, chop really fine. put the capers through a garlic press or chop really fine and stir them together. A little olive oil if you like it. It's really great on steaks, burgers, salmon patties, and roasts.

Hi girls! I don't have time to read through this thread, but was kind of stoked to see it! I love eating kind of like paleo.. I don't follow the diet really strictly, but I love the idea of eating super naturally just fruits, veggies, meats, and herbs. I try my utmost to do it. For those of you who are doing paleo, I found a GREAT blog that I love peeking into for recipes. She makes some awesome food. I'm especially partial to the paleo mexican shredded chicken yummy!

Yup, they are. That means I can't have any of the recipes with mayo or eggs to hold things together. I'm totally addicted to coconut oil now, though, and love all sorts of other fruits than citrus, but going out to eat makes things that much trickier. I hope, though, that eventually I can sort my guts out enough that some of the things I don't seem to tolerate very well the past few years eventually turn back into foods I can eat!

www.paleoforwomen.com/carbohydrates-for-fertility-and-health/I recently found this blog and keep finding great applicable posts. I thought this would be useful for other women eating paleo. We are not little men and we should be eating higher carb so tubers and fruits are our friends. ESPECIALLY if you have thyroid or adrenal issues. karen - Do you like avocadoes? I just found a salmon patty recipe that uses avocado to hold them together.
