Just wondering if anyone else is eating like me. I started with Paleo diet ( Archevore Diet www.archevore.com/get-started/ ). I also find Primal Blueprint ( www.marksdailyapple.com/definitive-guide-primal-blueprint/ ) to be a good resource, though my endo makes it necessary to be stricter than PB - but the lifestyle and fitness aspects really appeal to me. I'm an ecology/biology/evolution enthusiast and it just never made sense to me that hunter-gatherer women would have been dealing with endo and been able to pass it on. And grains as a staple of human diet are very new on the scene when you look at the whole span of human existence. Only the last 10,000 years out of about 2 million years of Homo species. I have been strict for about 3 months now (for 2 months before that was about 80% strict) and have had a lot of positive changes outside of my endo improvements. My energy level and mood are much improved. I don't get that low blood sugar feeling 2-4 hours after I've eaten. I saw my chronic inflammation go away - from my gut mostly. The only bad thing I experienced was weight loss at the beginning since I was at my ideal weight when I started (I lost about 8 pounds and am trying to gain it back - some of that was probably the inflammation weight, though). Just like the endo diet or the many other diets we are all trying, it makes it difficult to eat out but, in general, I don't feel deprived because I am cooking and eating the finest ingredients. Anyone else eating like this?

LOVE THIS DIET!!!!!!!!! I have to be gluten free which inadvertently makes me give up just about all grains. I think this diet totally makes sense because the human diet wasn't meant to eat all this processed stuff.

Yay! I'm glad someone else likes it! I agree, Jenaya, that we are not meant to be eating all these processed foods. About giving up all grains, when I was weighing the endo diet against paleo, the thing that tipped the scale for me was whether I wanted non-wheat grains in my diet more than I wanted good quality red meat and animal fats. I obviously went with animals over grains. The decision was a little more complex than that sounds

I really need to shy away from rice but it's so hard! I have been messing around with gluten free oatmeal but I really want to get rid of that out of my diet too. I just have a lot of it and I don't want it to go to waste so when I'm done with it I'll probably just stop buying it.
I think this diet makes the most sense as far as how humans were built. Some people get all weird about evolution so I tend not to bring it up. LOL. But I totally believe that the modern diet is full of stuff we can't process, absorb, or digest. I have a theory that this is why we have so many autoimmune diseases. Our immune systems are going haywire trying to fight off all this stuff that we put into our bodies and as a result, the body just turns on itself.
Food for thought I guess... lol

And I think it goes a lot further than autoimmune diseases - if we don't get the nutrients our cells need, well, no wonder we as a society have so many health problems! I think this diet makes complete sense. I'm not ready to give my random bits of rice, but otherwise tend to follow along these lines. I have a hard time digesting protein, though, and am always starving for it as a result. Damn digestion. The thing that gets me is that if you put mud in your gas tank, you wouldn't be surprised if your car didn't work, right? But as a society, we don't think twice about the crap we put in our bodies and wonder why we feel so awful!

Karen, it's because people deliberately try to not think about it. I'm jumping all over the raw foods for my pets, but when it comes to me it's a different story. It's so easy to keep them healthy; I control (almost) everything that goes into their bodies and everything else about their environment. I don't have anyone keeping me on house arrest and preparing my every meal though.
I don't like beef and I'm kinda liking the reduced inflammation I've had since dropping red meat and dairy, and if I were to get rid of grains there's really not that much left for me. I read through both websites, and they both look great, but I just don't think I could do either one.

Yeah it's not for everyone. It's difficult to be on a strict diet when you're busy. It's just really hard to do in general actually. lol
I see why rich people hire personal chefs. Wouldn't that be awesome? They could pack your lunch every day and then make your meals when you're home? Oh a girl can only dream....
Karen I totally agree with you that people don't even want to consider their diet as the cause to their problems. The way I see it, trying a diet is exactly the same as trying a medication. AT LEAST TRY to see if it works. The only difference is that you don't get nasty harmful side effects. If you have the option to treat a disease with a diet modification I think that's amazing! What irks me is the denial that people live in. AT LEAST TRY!

I've had to make time to cook more but I am trying to kill 2 birds with one stone by also making it mental health/ de-stress time. (that doesn't always work, by the way ) A personal chef would be Frickin' AMAZING! @ Heather - I also feed my cats a raw diet! You rock! Karen and Jenaya - in regards to white rice. Many primal/ paleo folks say white rice is the one acceptable grain, if you need to eat a grain. I guess it doesn't have the inflammatory reaction in people that all the other grains do, including brown rice.

Hi Everyone, My Kinesiologist recommended the Paleo Diet to me for treatment in sugar cravings/addiction, endometriosis, PCOS, etc. However, the diet seems almost completely opposite of the Endo Diet. Thoughts? Has anyone tried either? Has anyone experience almost complete healing through merely doing the Endo Diet & supplements and nothing else? I'm reallly hesitant to try any form of BC, but I'm already having pains (DD is 3 months old). I felt amazing when pregnant though, so I wonder if "tricking" my body into thinking it's pregnant will take away the pain, weight gain & acne that's happening? Thoughts? Thanks. It's nice to have a forum to go to, so you don't feel so alone in this.

Paleo just allows "clean" meat (wild-caught fish, organic grass-fed ruminants, pastured pork and chicken) and drops all grains and seed oils. Paleo definitely helped me kick the sugar addiction. I used to be able to down a whole bag of Twizzlers or 15 cupcakes with the really gross frosting! Now, if I overdo it on fruit, I can totally feel a sugar buzz (feels terrible). Today I ate 2 apples at once and got that way! I definitely noticed my chronic inflammation go away with paleo. I also think my hormones are coming into balance - I've gone from apple shaped to pear-shaped. As far as endo symptoms, my period discomfort totally corrected after I started it, though I'm still dealing with adhesion pains a few days a month. By the way, what is a kinesiologist? -Jaye

jaye: Thanks for your feedback. That gives me some hope! A Kinesiologist is someone who studies energy. Sounds bizarre until you try it. He tests my body for all the supplements I'm taking & checks to make sure that all of my organs are working properly. They test you by doing a muscle test. If your organ or supplement isn't working properly, your muscle will give out. It's way cool to experience! I would HIGHLY recommend a Kinesiologist to everyone, because everyone's body is different, so they'll make sure you're taking the supplements (& dosages), eating the foods, etc., that work for YOUR body & adjust as your body adjusts.

How does the Atkins Diet compare to the Endo Diet and/or Paleo Diet? I don't know much about the Atkins diet since I've never been overweight. Diets that focus on weightloss instead of overall health are not my cup of tea. My FIL and a fried of mine each tried it and it didn't seem very healthy. IDK. Maybe it was the way they each did it.
