The oddest thing is my temp is still high--acupuncture seems to have raised my temps from the mid 96s/mid 97s to mid 97s/mid 98s. Aw, I'm sorry you had that kind of bleeding. But, I'm thrilled that you're seeing some changes. I can only imagine what that'll mean in coming months after further treatment! And amazing about the temps!!

Has anyone had spotting due to acupuncture or chinese herbs? It's really weird, because i've never had spotting before, and today my acupuncturist asked me if i had, and i told him never, but when i got home, there was definitely a very light amount of blood! Do you think this could be the acupuncture or chinese herbs getting rid of old blood i have stuck in my tummy, or is something wacky going on? I will definitely bring it up when i see him next, but i just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this?

For me, acupuncture usually stopped the spotting I'd have. Doesn't mean it can't work the other way around, though!

Hmm, i talked to my acupuncturist and he insists that it couldn't be acupuncture and that it's the chinese medicine, because it helps get rid of old blood. Not sure if that's true, because it only happened that one time, but maybe? The only thing i notice about the chinese medicine is that it makes me poop very regularly, which is at least somewhat of an improvement even if it doesn't do anything else haha.
My acupuncturist is very against me getting another laparoscopy, but i'm doing it anyway on the 17th. I definitely feel a tiny bit better since starting the acupuncture, but i also feel like i can't say for sure that it's from the acupuncture :/ Not sure if I'm going to continue or not, since i can't really afford it right now.

From my now 4 months experience with acupuncture, I can only say that it's very hard to figure out a direct causal link between the acupuncture and something happening in the short term, and also that acupuncture is very surprising/unpredictable.
as for the anti-surgery part. It seems to me that acupuncturists are REALLY against surgery, for anything. They don't like anesthesia and say it causes more "blockages". but surgery clearly is necessary at some points--it just doesn't fit into their paradigm. acupuncture can't take away endometriomas; it can change/normalize your hormones and endocrine system and reduce inflammation.

I'm really glad that you have made a very informed decision to have another lap. You've heard other opinions and you made a decision. That's what we should all be doing! I wish you the best of luck and I can't wait to hear about how your lap goes with this new doctor! She sounds great!

Thought I'd post my experience this past month+, because for a bunch of scheduling reasons over the holidays and then just life happening (my acupuncturist's father had a stroke, and then died a week later, I haven't been to acupuncture since the first week of December.
My cycle went back to its old tricks--it's now day 34 or 35 of this cycle. My temperature dropped by about 0.3 - 0.5 degrees, on average. And teh pain has all come back. For the last cycle before I wasn't able to go to acupuncture, I had my normal week of pain during ovulation, teh week before my period, adn the week of my period. In a 28 day cycle, that doesn't leave much space, but it was still an improvement, because I had a few days where I was in much lower pain, and I felt overall "healthier". I've lost it all and have been in such pain for a while. We were even goign to go visit some friends in North Carolina next week and I told Shane I couldn't--we've postponed.
anyway, I'm encouraged that the acupuncture clearly is doing something for me, but falling off the truck like this has been hard. I've also had lots of rectal bleeding, vaginal bleeding this week after sex, vaginal bleeding after biking....bleh.
But, I have acupuncture next week, so I'll see if I start to regain some of the progress I'd made!

Wow. It clearly has an impact for you. I wish it would last longer for you, but even if it doesn't, the changes you've seen so far when going regularly are pretty awesome! I hope in the long run, you'll see some long lasting effects from it.

Wow that's crazy how much you have declined after such a short period of time! I'm sorry you feel so terrible!

I hope acupuncture can help you again. It really seems to have made a difference for you. I had acupuncture every month for 6 months (about 6 years ago), but was using it as a preventative measure after surgery, but it was also expensive and I ended up stopping it for a while and then went back to it a few years later for a few months. I always thought it felt good and relaxing, but since I wasn't having symptoms at the time, I never knew if it was helping or not. I think maybe I should try it again. How often were you having the acupuncture, rustmyrtle?

I've been going once a week since late August--I'm really fortunate to have someone on my insurance, so it's affordable. I couldn't do it otherwise.
It's funny, because I had no effect from teh acupuncture for MONTHS, except for feeling so sick afterwards and my cycle changing completely, until around the week after thanksgiving, then I had that strange experience of having those small pockets of days that were much easier than normal, around the normal bad times. I'll be interested to see if, or how quickly, I get back to that. I hope. I have really been deteriorating this week, and spent a lot of today crying in a little ball in the bed today. I hope I start my period tomorrow so I can start to get this episode over with.

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. What about your gin-soaked tumeric raisins? Didn't they help your pain before?
That's good that your insurance covers acupuncture. Mine had been $90 a session (for naturopath visit AND acupuncture) and I had to pay for it, so I went once a month only.
I hope you feel better very soon!

That really sucks that you're in pain, but it's cool to know that it's really doing something for you! I hope you start feeling better fast after you go back!
I'll definitely go back to mine when i can afford it again. My sessions are actually really cheap ($20), but i have no job, so even that's expensive right now.

So I haven't posted on myself in a while. I'm still doing the acupuncture, but 2012 so far has been very, very tough. I had a couple better days in February, and I'm still trying to hold on to those, and hope that this route will give me more good, soon. I really have no days without pain, and many days that are very very difficult to handle (a week+ of bad pain at ovulation and my period, and then several days of heightened pain leading up to my period). However, the acupuncture has still kept my cycle much more normal and my temperature much higher, my brain works better--all of those things are great! Also on the bright side, I'm going to NYC this weekend with one of my best friends! actually my supervisee at the moment, which is weird (because she's my friend AND about 15 years older than I am). She's been to the US 3 times now, but never been to NYC, which is her dream. I convinced her to go with me, and so we'll be hitting the chinatown bus at 2pm on Friday! Then I come back to have a colonoscopy on Tuesday .

I'm sorry you're not getting more relief from the acupuncture, though I'm thrilled it has its upsides! Will you continue to stick with the acupuncture? Have a fab weekend! Ah, I love NYC! It's funny, someone just the other day was talking about the Chinatown buses and what a gamble they were! When I dated a guy in NYC, I heard in full detail (a very, very long-winded bf...) how rickety some of them were. Sounds like a fantastic weekend, though!
