Ok, so I'm beginning to think that Karen might be clairvoyant. I'm on day 13 after ovulation, and have been in agony for several days. The uterine/pelvic burning keeps worsening. And, this morning, my temperature dropped--not enough to start my period, but I think I might soon. Which, despite my 54 day cycle or whatever I'm on now, would be the shortest luteal phase in my history (as Karen predicted): www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3575bcMy acupuncture last night was a little better. She didn't do any of the "dispersing" needles, but she couldn't resolve all the screwiness in the "pulses" either--I was in too much pain. Every time things would start to quiet down, I'd get hit with another wave and they'd all go haywire again. But, I'm less knocked out today--I feel like I have the mild flu, rather than severe flu. Hey, I'll take anything!! I'm really hoping that once I get this cycle out of the way (and I can tell that this period is going to be the period from hell), that the acupuncture will really help me. Even if it can consistently shorten the luteal phase, when I am in so much pain, that will be something!

Ha ha, I WISH I was a clairvoyant! Man, that'd be sweet. Fingers crossed that the hunch was right, though, and that you'll have a shorter luteal phase this month!!! I'm in the same boat as you in that I just want to get this cycle out of the way and see what acupuncture will really do for me. I just had another appointment today and was FINALLY able to fall asleep. She did the typical points she's always done, and last week and this week she added in a few more points. I almost instantly felt groggy. I feel relaxed now that I'm home, though, and wish I could lay on the couch and be lazy, but I have work to do tonight. Sigh. We'll get there, Kristin!!

I hope! This has been nearly 7 days of really bad pain, almost unbearable. But I refuse to think that acupuncture can wreck this much havoc in my hormones and general health without doing something positive eventually.
Hope you got the work done, Karen.

I read on an endo Facebook page that a girl used acupuncture for treatment and her first few periods were hell, but then her endo all but disappeared. The acupuncture basically rounded up and expelled implants and clots. I'm keen to give it ago.

That would be amazing. I have really been in agony for weeks; I hope it's going somewhere!

well, I started my period yesterday morning very early. so a 15 day luteal phase (confirming Karen's clairvoyance). Yesterday was pretty horrible, but I've been in really unbearable pain for a while, so it wasn't any worse. I'm feeling a little bit better today.
the funny thing is, I was sleeping in my grandmother's hospital room, and had no pad or anything, so I had to ask the nurse. She looked aroudn blankly and said that they didn't stock those supplies in the joint replacement floor and all she could offer me was an adult diaper. Cute, but not ideal. Then, she told me to run over to the OBGYN floor, so I traipsed over (wearing my grandmother's nightgown, because I'd forgotten to pack pajamas (leaving at 2:30am the night before had not helped my packing) and my grandmother REFUSED to have me sleep in my jeans) and got a pile of very thick pads at 3 in teh morning. Good thing, because this period is VERY heavy.

Remind me again - how long has your luteal phase been in the past? I know 15 must be quite a treat for you, and I'm thrilled that you have some sort of 'sign' that acupuncture is working, even if things are still quite haywire for you. I'm really curious to see if this cycle is any different now! And I'm glad you didn't have to settle for the adult diaper. Wouldn't that have been quite a sight?

15 days is SUCH a treat. Normally both phases of my cycle are 21 - 25 days. this time, I had 41 day FP and 15 day LP. woohoo!

this just keeps kicking my ass. I had a pretty low pain day yesterday, was feeling pretty good. The acupuncture instantly knocked me sideways--today I'm once again exhausted and really emotional. A new wave of pain also hit me this afternoon--not sure it's related, but just saying. Acupuncture has been SUCH a struggle for me!

Does she have ANYTHING to say about it, why you keep reacting this way??

I'm wondering what she has to say to Kristin. I hope you don't mind, but I talked to my acupuncturist today and asked him about all the symptoms you have been having. He said that it's typical to detox the first few times, but it sounds like it's been going on for more then a few weeks for you.
I just wish the acupuncture was helping you and not causing all these other issues. I hope that your acupuncturist figures out how to help you. Thinking of you.

Paint, thanks--that was really nice of you!
I've emailed her to ask why this keeps happening. She's adjusted it so that it's better than it was--I only have 1 - 2 days of feeling so bad, instead of a week, and it's a little less intense I think. I just keep holding on to the fact that I had only a 15 day luteal phase, and how wonderful that was, so it's clearly doing SOMETHING.

I'm in so much pain right now that I'm not sure I can post very coherently, but the exciting thing is that I am VERY clearly around ovulation, and only on cycle day 13. I feel so conventional! That is 8 - 15 days earlier than normal, and almsot 30 days earlier than last time. So, acupuncture is definitely (at least at this point) normalizing my hormones/regulating my cycle. If it would only do something about the pain, and if it only weren't so damn hard on me...my pain is still pretty much non-stop. I was in the bike shop today and kept having tears rolling down my face from the pain. Thank god it was raining so it was a quieter day.
However, this is definitely progress! and sort of fascinating, to boot.

Holy crap, that's insane!!! About the cycles, I mean. Not the pain. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I really hope she's able to start helping with that, too. Are you still having such a strong reaction afterwards, too? I had another session tonight. She's still in shock that I haven't had a period yet so she gave me another herb to try for free. So far, she's been focusing her points on my girly parts, but today I reminded her that my adrenals need a lot of help. She did muscle testing and lo-and-behold, all the bits of the endocrine system were off, and a few others, too. So, she adjusted her needles accordingly and left them in for about 70 minutes. I have to think it'd be making some sort of difference soon.

70 minutes is LONG time. I hope it does something for you. I think I might fall off my bike afterwards if someone left the needles in that long!
The acupuncture is still really difficult for me, and the pain hasn't improved, but the fact that I'm "normal" (at least at this point in my cycle) is pretty astonishing for me. and, i do really trust my acupuncturist. My "gut" likes her, so I hope that the pain can be affected too. But, I can't imagine the changes to my hormone/endocrine system that have happened for me to ovulate so normally.
