I get headaches. Not sure if you ever experienced this, but it feels like intense "brain freeze" on the top right side of my head. The best I can do is describe it as a burning pain. I didn't even think about the ALC/ALA. It took three days of this for me to connect it. I stopped the pills and the pain went away. I waited a week and started again. The pain returned soon after and really scared me. I haven't had them for a couple of weeks now and the pain hasn't come back.

It's like a slow burning gently pulsing throb at the back of my neck. I don't honestly now if it's linked, but I didn't get the headaches until after I started taking them. I didn't take them for a while but still got the headaches.

Just checked the bottle and they pretty much total allergen free. 500mg ALC and 150 mg ALA.

That's crazy! I'd stop taking them if you think they are giving you headaches. Have you looked it up online to see if there are listed side effects?

Sounds like what I had, except mine was the top, front of my head. It's a weird pain. I did get results eliminating the pills - it took a couple of days for the burning to go away and about three days for it to come back when I started again. I stopped immediately and the pain is gone.
If the pain is in the back of your neck - could it be related to computer work/reading/stress causing tension in your neck muscles? My hubby gets that. Did you start doing anything new a couple of months ago that has your head bowed or angled for long/frequent periods? Any chance you could get a deep tissue massage in your upper back/shoulders/neck area? My hubby swears by it.

Not that I want to hijack this thread but....
For years and years I've had a knot at the back of my head. I started having counselling a while ago and realised quite quickly that the reason I don't ever feel stressed is because I was living in a permanent state of stress and tension. Not long after I did have a fabulous massage, and it was not long after that that the headaches started. I wondered if it was because my neck and shoulders were more relaxed so I was carrying my head differently and using different muscles? It's at the base of my skull, behind my left ear mainly. Painkillers keep it at bay for the most part, and lying down takes it away too. I just want it to go away!!

I did an experiment with this pill because I was thinking, every time I start taking this pill I'm always starting a new Vitamin D dosage. I was kinda wondering, oh crap, maybe it's the vitamin D that's making me feel like super woman. I went off the ALC/ALA for a few days but stayed on the vitamin D and I felt ok as far as the brain fog but my physical energy definitely decreased. I felt "fine" but I didn't feel like super woman. So yeah, I still consider it my super woman pill!
Hey Helen, did you go off of it because of the headaches?

Ugh, don't like the sound of that, Helen. Did you ever go back to .. Wasn't it a massage that sparked it to begin with? Did you ever ask if they had heard of others develop headaches, or perhaps have an idea if something they do could possibly trigger them in some people-? I had a lot of luck taking feverfew daily as a preventative for migraines, not sure if it works for other headaches but maybe worth looking into? So I started back on SuperWoman pills, no ALA, just 500 mg ALC and whew, Ive been raring to go! Almost a little too much for me, but some of that could be symptom of weaning off wellbutrin right now. But I love that it's not just a speed-y energy, I feel positive with it to, like an overall boost. Like SuperWoman!!

Been getting them for a couple of months. The start also coincides with counselling. I suspected that I started getting them because I was LESS tense in my head/neck so other muscles were kicking in. Don't know. But if they continue I'll be discussing them again with my doc when I next go in. They're not pleasant. Like a tension headache but focused in one spot.

Hrmm. Just a guess, but if coincides w counselling sessions and laying down helps...maybe you found a new place to store your stress?? Acepressure points can be great for tension headaches, but I can't think of which ones right now. If that's something you're interested in I can check it out for you.
