if you girls find something that works I would definitely be interested to in trying it. I have lost half the total volume of my hair. I'm sad about it but it's not noticeable to other people because my hair was extremely thick before. However, it is concerning to me if it persists. Don't even see short baby hairs. My is just straight falling out. It started falling out when I started the nuva ring and I haven't been the same since.

I'm the same J - had a monumental amount of hair til my mid twenties, so to everyone else it looks normal, but to me it's thin and fine and yuck. Will let everyone know what happens with dermatologist.

My Implanon is making all my hair fall out too. I know it has something to do with the progesterone because I had the same thing on the Depo and once I went off my hair quit falling out. Stupid hormones! Makes you feel like you're 60 and going thru menopause!

Yep, loads of reasons. Unfortunately unless it's something like alopecia totalis where it all falls out, doctors don't give a sh*t. I had my dermatologist appt last week. She was very nice, and she ordered some additional blood tests, but she didn't seem overly confident that she could help much.

Yikes that sucks!! I've never had that happen before. My hair falls out in strides but it seems to be a pretty evenly-distributed fall-out lol. I'm sorry Jenaya!!

I got my haircut today (YAY) and I decided to bring up my hair thinning to my hair dresser and I casually mentioned that I was sick for a while and the first thing he asked me was, "Did you have surgery?" Apparently anesthesia can make our hair fall out up to 8 months after we have surgery. He went on to say that a lot of prescriptions and obviously hormones cause our hair to fall out too. I've been sedated 3 times this year and I really wonder if this is why my hair thinned out so badly. He said give it about 8 months and it'll improve. I didn't know anesthesia did this but it definitely could explain why I lost so much hair this year.

Yep - surgery, illness, stress can all make hair fall out and in most cases it's temporary and sorts itself out. Your hair growth is apparently a reflection of where your body/health was 3 months ago.

Well I knew that illness/stress etc stuff but he was saying the actual drug does it too.

So, I'm so stinkin excited but so stinkin mad too! Remember I had the dermatologist appt a few weeks back? She ordered some bloods, some of which hadn't been tested before. So, I got a letter from GP today, telling me the consultant has written to them and asked me to go for more tests. I just took another look at the letter, and it turns out I tested positive for parietal cell antibodies!! Suspected pernicious anaemia!! She wants to test for intrinsic factor antibodies, TSH and others. Now the reason I'm mad is that I brought this very same thing up with my previous w*anker GP 18 MONTHS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him that having had chronic urticaria and chronic H Pylori that I was at risk of B12 deficiency. Although my B12 was 'normal' to me it was far from optimal. Why am I even so suprised/annoyed that this hasn't been thoroughly tested before now?? But, I may be closer to understanding and reversing the hair loss/thinning!!!!!!!!
