My first thought when I read your post was the kidney. I'm sure your new doc is on to something though! This is the first time you've gotten an "answer" in a long time. Fingers crossed!

I've recently discovered (and have been researching more) that endometrial lesions actually secrete toxins, to which our bodies respond with inflammation and bloating. The endometriosis itself makes your body toxic.
I've been really intrigued by this. It also explains why, when I've been on prednisone for some ridiculous allergic reaction, my endo pain is better--because the inflammatory response to the toxins is suppressed.
I've also been wondering if this explains why, with some women, they don't have endo symptoms until later in life, whereas others do immediately at puberty. The endo is there, doing its thing, and it's not until your body is over toxified and/or develops the inflammatory response to teh toxins that the pain gets overwhelming. Anyway, this is my current, non-medical theory.

Further along Karen! This is pretty much what I suspect of myself too. The Waterfall Diet book that I have explaind around 7 different reasons why that extra-cellular fluid builds up. I've dropped 3.5 lbs in 5 days in the week leading up to my period, also having MASSIVE poops each morning! Once you get to the source of the fluid retention you'll feel so much better!

Hi Hells! I'm curious what you are doing to loose the fluid? Is the fluid thing the key to the massive poops as well? I am currently doing the detox tea that was mentioned in the other thread......it's good, I have 2 cups daily but not sure I'm really noticing many results.

Yay for you - 3.5 pounds is pretty sweet! I swear, I'm already seeing some pretty drastic changes in just a few days due to the gelatin - it's pretty cool! Some jeans that I couldn't fit into for the past 4 months are looking almost wearable now! And Kristen - interesting info - thanks! Jenaya - I kind of think my kidneys are involved, but I think the liver is the bigger problem. The cleanse I've done in the past is a liver cleanse and I always seem to do really well on it. Problem is that I bloat right back up the second I have even a crumb of something I'm not supposed to. As per usual, I expect my body to have several complicated reasons for bloating like I do...

Loveshoes I'm following a diet called the Waterfall Diet by Linda Lazarides. It's similar to the endo diet, just involved cutting out the things that are known to cause fluid retention. Two thirds of the book though talks about those causes and it's very informative. The poops could be more down to the fact that inflammation is calming down, or just that things aren't so upset in there.
As of this morning I am down 4 lbs and my period is imminent. Awesome.

Yeah, the constant tightness in my 'upper belly' :-) has gone down. Been a week now, I usually start adding stuff back in at this stage because I feel so restricted (Phase I is supposed to last a a month) but I feel ok so I'm gonna keep going for a while. Very curious to see what happens during/after my period. I'm so used to seeing my weight yo-yo constantly that it's awesome to see it go down steadily every day.
Only thing I'm going to have to add back in soon is salt. Even though I'm using pepper, herbs, spices etc, most foods taste really bland. I'll monitor my weight carefully and if I see it go back up with the salt I'll take it out again. I use top quality sea salt crystls in my cooking anyway, and don't add any to my plate, so I should be ok. Not eating anything much with hidden salt either.

yeah, the salt was the one thing I couldn't do without. I was thinking that when looking at your diet. I crave it SOO much.

I'm not really craving salt, but food is tasting so bland I'm not really enjoying it and I'd rather risk a bit of salt than give it all up. I need to enjoy my food! Lol this is lovely, I feel like I have y'all's blessing to have some salt. i love the validation this place gives.

I LOVE salt as well - I just started to really cut down on that as well. I'm not sure if you have this in the UK or not but we have mrs. dash seasonings, there are a ton of different blends but I find them very peppery and I don't like pepper too much. I'm sure these are bad but we have a store called Trader Joes and they have these dark chocolate almonds with sea salt and turbindo sugar - they are so good so when I cheat, those are my little snack sometimes.

Everyone has to cheat at times...just gotta do it in moderation to minimise the comeback.
Karen, I have a bit of a theory after reading some posts today. When we're first symptomatic, dealing with the pain etc, we're probably still eating all of the things that don't agree with us. So between irritant foods and toxic medication - all that's gotta buil up and it doesn't go away overnight. So I think at the minute we're both on a good track!
