What is everyone reading this summer? I am trying to read Learning to Breath by Karen White I do not usually read stuff like this but it looked fun and I needed something different its been hard for me to comprehend a book since September so I thought this may be light and easy. Here is the ALA summary.... Brenna O'Brien's dreams ended 16 years ago when the love of her life, Pierce McGovern, left Indianola, Louisiana, and disappeared. At 33, Brenna is trying to keep her historic movie theater running while suffering through horrific blind dates. She saves her unopened letters, refusing to read them in the belief that reality could never measure up to what she imagines--until Pierce comes back to town to take care of his aging father and opens a cineplex that could destroy her theater. Pierce has never forgotten Brenna, and his father asks Brenna to read unopened letters addressed to him during World War II, hoping that she will learn from his mistakes and open her eyes and her heart. White creates a heartfelt story full of vibrant characters and emotion that leaves the reader satisfied yet hungry for more from this talented author. Copyright © American Library Association. I just buy random chick-lit from Tesco's. There are quite a few writers that I like though.
How on earth are the ads on this board so spookily like the topics being discussed? As I'm writing this the banne says 'The Map of All Things' - READ IT NOW. Bizarre.

(Yeah, the ads often target the content on the page. One pages about narcotics, addiction ads often come up, in the infertility pages, ads for some 'miracle' infertility drug pops up...)

I used to buy random stuff from Tesco Helen but like with The Time Traveller's Wife and Wedlock, I never seem to finish them. I'm back to reading LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring at the moment, I love it. Did I mention I watched the special edition extended films over and over after my op ;D

I started reading the trilogy in one book when I was younger than 10 probably, and I don't think I've evern actually completely finished them. Thank goodness for the movies! I've read the Hobbit dozens of times though.
And I like Tesco/Morrisons for books cos they're much better priced than W H Smith and the book shops.

I agree, loved my nightly forays to Tesco for that reason, but with buying these books for a steal on Amazon I haven't looked in Tesco for an age. I feel I should at least finish them for once. What's up with their pricing when it used to be 2 for £7 on all paperbacks? I love Tesco online, play and amazon for book bargains. I only read the Hobbit when I was 10, meant to get into the trilogy but got sidetracked with Brian Jacques and Robin Jarvis. Nothing like adventures with swashbuckling mice. Oh the food in the Brian Jacques books used to give me the munchies constantly. I love Rudy Reyes and his outlook on life, only got to know him in Generation Kill (read that on hols in Egypt, surreal!) and his book is inspirational to someone like me who used to be so hung up on negativity. If I can let it make a difference to me, I'd love to start a blog about my experiences 'Hero Living' as someone with depression and endo, which make it maybe more of a challenge. Sorry for the digress. I find every summer I end up reading my encyclopaedias of history and mythology too. They were purchased when WH Smith's was a bargain bin, only £10 each. I should really be reading my DIY book.

That's book club is starting again in More 4. I think that was the sticker on Wedlock when I bought it... how anyone finds the time to read it in a week is beyond me!

Oh my god, I just re-read 'the girl who played with fire' by stieg larrson, and have read 'the girl with the dragon tattoo' twice, and now I'm waiting for 'the girl who kicked the hornet's nest'. It's actually one of the reasons I've put off my surgery so long, because I want to have a good book if I have to wait in the hospital for 3 days!!! Karen did you know that since the author died, there is a whole website about Lisbeth Salander and the books? www.stieglarsson.com/ its crazy, guess I need to surf the net more, I miss everything! anyhow, also trying to get my hands on more Ruth Rendell, waiting for another Martha Grimes, and every stray paperback at my favorite bar gets read too, sometimes twice... I'm horrible, I should wash the dishes or sweep the floor, but all I do is READ! I'm SOOOO LAZYYYY!!! ah haaaaaa!

I'm only about 120 pages in, but I'm starting to see why it's gotten such rave reviews! Have to wrap it up for book club in just under 2 weeks. My guess is that I'll be done by the end of this weekend...
