I have two reasons for raving about my mum today. Firstly, she's amazing and I love her (she does do my head in at times...) and it's Mother's Day, secondly because tomorrow is my 35th birthday and last night she threw me an AMAZING surprise birthday party! It was soooo fab!!! Mammy I love you!!
Happy Mother's Day to all you mommys out there, have a lovely day!

Mother's day in the states isn't for another month or two (May?), but I'm glad you have good reason to celebrate your mom.
And I know your birthday isn't until tomorrow, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy mothers day to all the mothers and mothering types out there. I love Cath, my boyfriends mum who's shown me at the worst of times what it is to be a mum even to girls you barely know... and some lovely mums in work today who volunteered to come in so that women with new babies could take the day off to be celebrated... even our social care department who have to step in where mothers can't or won't take on responsibility for their children. I could go on but I just love hearing people talk about how great their mummies are on this day(s)!

Sorry gals for confusing you! I know it's a different day in the US, should have mentioned that up front! We had a nice family lunch at my stepdad's yesterday. She is the most amazing mum a girl could have, she's done so much for me.

What an awesome mom!! I love moms. I also started freaking about thinking that I forgot about Mothers Day after reading the post, then I though how my mom never said anything about Mothers Day and figured there is still time get or make something (I also forgot it was in May, glad I'm not the only one that forgot). I think I'll try to finish the skirt she wanted me to make for her last year. I wish I had a surprise party, most of my Birthday's turned out disappointing. Glad you had a nice Birthday though and a great mother.

I also thought, hey I forgot, then my mind went to hey, I didn't get anything for mothers day either....Which would be the same as last year, where my husband slept in and I made the kids breakfast....But then two realized in Canada mothers day isn't until may....
but we should remember our mom's regularly anyways, because My mom is the only person who doesn't judge me all the time, and loves me know matter what. She's the only one I can be truthfull about how much pain I am in, and She constantly is checking in with me to see how I am doing.

Well, we like our wine in this family! I'm going to order a taxi for her to go and pick her up, get some flowers and maybe a small piece of jewellery. Bless, on Saturday she said to me 'So what time for dinner tomorrow?' and I looked at her confusedly...she got her dates wrong and thought it was yesterday. I'm also a wannabe chef.

OK my husband and I have attempted a white wine cream sauce for sea food a few times now and we can't seem to get it right! Would you be willing to post the recipe or email it to me? I'd love to try it again! We kinda gave up after a few failed attempts.
Your mom is in for such a treat!

Well, I'll kinda be making it up. I'll post it here in case anyone else wants it - don't really want to put it in the recipe thread as it's not exactly endo friendly!
Finally chop some shallots and saute in a little butter until very soft. Slosh in some white wine and cook until alcohol evaporates. Maybe a splash of vermouth or pernod, but just a splash. Cook that out, and pour in some single cream until it's almost twice the quantity. Finish with some finely chopped fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon, add salt and pepper to taste. One thing I might also try is cooking some clams in with it once the shallots and wine are cooked out, before adding cream. It'll add more flavour.
