Have any of you ladies ever mentioned this to your gyno? You might also want to see a urogynecologist who will know more about how the bladder is affected by certain issues. I had bladder pain for years! Doctors always thought I had urinary tract infections or bladder infections, but I never responded to the antibiotics and other medications. Finally, a doctor did a cystoscopy with hydrodistention and discovered I had one of the worst cases of Interstitial cystitis (IC) he had ever seen. Some of my symptoms were: feeling like I have to pee constantly, peeing frequently even during the night, severe burning sensations in my pelvic region and my urethra. My pain also worsened when I ate or drank specific things, specifically caffeine, alcohol, anything acidic, and even Gatorade. One of the strangest symptoms I ever had was extreme pain when riding in a car; after I was diagnosed I was told this is because riding in a car causes the liquid in your bladder to move around and come in contact with more areas of irritation. After I was diagnosed with IC, I started on a prescription medication to repair my bladder. I also changed my diet. These two changes helped significantly within 6 weeks. I never get up to pee during the night now, and although I still feel like I have to pee frequently, it does not hurt! If you think you have IC, my doctor recommended removing all acidic items (tomatoes, anything citrus, sour candies, etc.), alcohol, caffeine, carbonated beverages, and vitamin supplements from my diet for two weeks. You would be amazed at how much better you will start to feel and how much less you will have to pee. You may want to try this before getting a cystoscopy with hydrodistention because that can be somewhat painful (for me it was excruciating). This is an awesome resource for finding out more about IC: www.ic-network.com/whatisinterstitialcystitis/

I have been having all this insane bladder pressure for the past couple days and nothing makes it go away. I haven't slept for two nights now and I worked an 8 hour day yesterday and I'm just running on empty. I did some research on bladder pressure and I came up with about 2 different things: Interstitial Cystitis causes bladder pressure and so does pregnancy. I'm obviously not pregnant because I can't be, but I do have all the symptoms of IC. Anybody have any experience here or advice? I just took some AZO about half an hour ago so I'm waiting to see what happens when that kicks in (other than peeing bright red). I'm hoping it will help. I see there isn't much they can do for IC that is any less painful than just living with it. I need some help here girls!

Hi, glad you found this thread! What point in your cycle are you at (sorry, not sure if you're having a cycle or if your on something to suppress)? I've noticed recently that I get bladder pressure around ovulation. I don't believe I have IC, I'd advise against jumping to the conclusion that you have it. From what I recall of other posts, it's not a pleasant diagnosis procedure! If it's getting so bad that you get no pain relief and and the pressure is still there, you really ought to go and see a doctor.

It was thought at one point, based on my symptoms, that I had IC but a urologist was able to rule it out. It certainly could be IC, but it could also be the lovely endo... I agree with Helen, though, best to get it looked at if it's a new issue for you. Could be an infection also!

I'm almost positive its not an infection. I had a urine test in Aug, Oct, and Nov and all were fine. I used to get the pressure during my period, and I've had it off and on at random points all the time. But now its been constant for about 2 or 3 days. I am waiting to get my cycle back tho. I haven't had one since last Dec and I went off my Depo shot in Nov. It was due around the 16th. So I don't know when I'll get it or what's going on.

It might be a bit of a 'wait and see' situation, see what happens when you get your period. But don't wait too long!

I would go to your gyno and request the swab for bacterial vaginitis as well as yeast infection. I had BOTH recently and had major problems peeing - once I took the yeast pill and the 5 night bacterial treatment all of my problems went away! People with IC pee 20-40 times per day and when they have to go they really have to go - you are literally wetting yourself to get to the bathroom. Trust me on this one, go to the gyno and get the swabs I suggested.

I don't have any vaginal discharge, no itching or irritability. Just pressure in my belly that feels like its on my bladder. Maybe its not even. But it makes me feel like I'm going to wet my pants but then I don't really have to go, you know? The AZO didn't really do much of anything for me and most women say that gives them some form of relief. But I am on 4 new supplements per my doctor. I was diagnosed with "old cold" Lymes. Basically its settled into my system and wasn't taken care of properly to begin with, but is no longer a full blown hot infection that gives me rashes or a fever or high white blood count. These are really strong herbs and homeopathic remedies and they could be irritating something in my body or it could be all the detoxing I'm doing. Mum suggested that I go off of them. I didn't take them yesterday because I was at work from 12-8 and didn't really think of it and then today with all this is when mum suggested not taking them, so its 2 days off them. I'll give it a couple more days and see. Maybe they are too irritating?

The only other thing I can figure is this: My shot was due on the 16th. They give you a two week period of time to get it before they say its no good. So that would be till the 30th of Nov. Okay so lets say I was officially off it by then. I always had a 28 day cycle. This would be my week of ovulation then (which I always used to have pain with). Before this constant bladder pressure thing started, I have had cramps that are not able to be diet controlled for about a week. If all this works out, and it is my cycle returning, I should get my period around the end of the month. Like Hellen said...maybe I need to give this a little time. I just wanted some ideas was all. And thanks, by the way, for your concern girls

Yowza! Sounds terrible. I agree with the girls, see a doctor if it persists. You don't want to wait too long because if it is an infection you should get it treated right away. My acupucturist says that just because you are sore or feel pressue in one area it doesn't mean that that is the location of the cause. Just like a sore back can upset your tummy, legs, knees, etc. Let us know how you feel tmrw. Try and get a good sleep tonight.

I know that the pain could be radiating from somewhere. I've had cramps for about the last week and the week before that I had this pressure thing for a couple days. I'm going to take some ibu tonight. I did Tylenol the past two nights and was constantly rubbing my Menstrual Comfort cream on my belly. I can't take my Vicodin or Diclocinifac because its making me pukey anymore. But I really need to sleep....I'm really worn out.

Sorry you feel bad, hope you get better fast! Dont forget the (sometimes effective) power of positive thinking! maybe your environment is getting you down or whatever. You seem depressed and that makes it worse if you have pain, maybe see a therapist or talk to a good friend about it... I know you're on hormones and you're young, I was in a similar situation when I was younger, and my family and home life sometimes made me feel worse. But unlike you I didnt know what was wrong with me and honestly I can't remember my periods or being that sick until my 20s... anyhow hope I don't sound hopelessly useless to you and hope you can get a handle on feeling better soon! Finally got a semi-normal night's sleep. Bladder pressure has subsided but now I'm really really dizzy today and the pain has moved into my lower back. Plus I still have a cold. I bet you anything this is tied into getting my cycle back. Its kinda what it feels like anyhow. Who knows. Just need to stay in bed awhile longer while my Dramamine kicks in to stop my world from spinning...then maybe I'll feel like getting up and facing the day. Thanks for your support girls Its good to know SOMEONE understands....

Shannon, this all sounds pretty crappy for you I often have bladder pressure about a week after I finish the worst of my period that I know isn't an infection (I have infections all the time so know the difference now), but it feels like it could be and is really uncomfortable. I tend to drink loads and then pee a lot and that seems to help. The pain does often move to my back and I then I have a bad tummy with it. But I have endo in my bowel so I always have some kind of pain in my back and dodgy guts!! I would think it's probably cycle related - maybe keep a diary of what happens each month, at least that way you're prepared if nothing else!

All I can tell you is I didn't have any of the "classic" symptoms of either one. No strange discharge, no smell, no itch. Actually, the research I did says many women have Bacterial Vaginitis without knowing it. It can cause the feeling like you have a bladder infection but don't. Be careful with that Azo, you're only supposed to take it for afew days and it's basically only a bandaid on the bigger problem - it's just meant to get you thru a weekend until you can get to the dr for antibiotics but it sounds like that isn't your problem.
