Good news! Dr put me on Ortho-Cept back at my previous post. LOVING IT! My first period was 3 days, 2nd one was 4 days. And best of all, the girls have gotten bigger. Not that, THAT is a good thing per say, but it is an added bonus. I used to be a 34C, now I am a 36/38 D. I don't know if it is because of the drug, but it is the only thing that has changed to cause this. The headaches are back, but I am not totally positive it is from the drug seeing as though work has REALLY been stressing me out since before Christmas.
I have done the continuous BCP thing since I was 22? It has worked well for me other than having really LONG dark periods. Dr said this should help that problem. This last one I waited a month between again and this one was a little longer 5-6 days? and darker but I think I'll just go back to a regular monthly cycle anyway. If you haven't tried it and your dr is suggesting it, I would give it a shot. My dr now said that I shouldn't have been having 10-12 day periods- they would start out as light spotting, then a light to med flow day for 2 days, then heavy flow for 3-4 days, then back to light for the last few. He said it was the BCP I was on that was causing it, not my body. Once we played around with a few different pills and found the correct one, it is much better. Other than the Lupron, I would do just about anything he suggested. He really knows his Endo.

I just wanted to say that I've been on continuous birth control for almost 2 months, and so far, no break-through bleeding. I hope that means it'll work and keep working!

yes, i've been on them continuously for almost 1 year now. it has kept me from bleeding at all, which is good, but i've had side effects too (those side effects are much more bareable than the endo pain i was experiencing mind you).
I wanted to ask though, has anyone ever experienced a worsening of their immune system after being on birth control, continously, or not? I've been sick for like 7 weeks, and I can't seem to get better no matter what I do. Even antibiotics didn't work. I'm starting to wonder if the Lo Ovral (Generic=cryselle) I'm taking continously is harming my immune system... anyone had a similar experience?

Hi abornich I just posted about my virus marathon, and have recently gone back to continuous BCPs so I wonder if it's linked? What side effects have you noticed over the long term?

For the past 7½ weeks, I've been sick with a slight fever (hardly nothing, but get chills off and on), a slight sore throat that gets worse at night and in the morning, a lot of thick mucus that's hard to swollow, and I just feel weak with no energy most of the time. I also had a really bad cough for a while, and now it's better, but I'm still coughing some. The first doc I saw after 1 week of being sick just gave me an inhaler (Advair) for the cough, which helped some. Next, 3 weeks into being sick I was treated for a sinus infection with 10 days worth of antibiotics. I felt some better while taking them, but then got worse again after finishing them. I've never been sick for this long before. If it were worse I'd go back to the doc, but I keep thinking I can get over it. I doubt they'll do much for me anyway.

maybe u meant side effects of the continuous birth control though... i've had numerous ones, with the worse being yeast infections. I may have that under control now. Also, I have had weird acne outbreaks on the chest, face, neck and back. I occassionally get night sweats or just hot flashes, but those were worse the first few months I was on the pill. I know I'm also much more moody and prone to easily be irritated. Those are the majority of problems I've had on Continous BC.

Ah yes. Well the yest infections, if you've not done so, just cut down a lot on refined sugars like white sugar in your tea and white carbs As for thr acne, I came off GnRH with terrible spots but after going back on Yasmin my skin's tons clearer. You wanna try evening primrose for the mood swings! As for the colds, I've been sick almost continuously with different things over the last 6 weeks, you just feel run doooown! To help with the mucusy stuff, I have a mug of hot boiled water with half a lemon sliced up in it and some honey to make it taste nicer. I really like it now! Add some sliced ginger for nausea. It's a real tonic. Really cleared my stuffy passages after my first cold which refused to shift for nearly 2 weeks!

I've recently started on CBC, meant to be doing 9 weeks then a 1 week break but it hasn't quiote worked out like that because of surgeries and stuff, so i'm up to my 12th week, meant to have my break week next week, but i have had break through for over a week and it is VERY painful. Also got rather bad acne, face chest and back, makes me feel like a teenager again! If things don't pick up soon i'll be going back to the dr to try something new.

that's what i felt like in the beginning on my cbc pills.... after sticking with it for 2-3 months, i stopped spotting. I do have to take a break after 4 packs though because my body starts to feel like I'm in menapause or something.. just achy and arthritic all over, not to mention the mood swings.... I can so feel a relief when I take a break for a period, but I'm scared at the same time the endo pain will come back. My regular GP doc told me to do this in order to hopefully keep the endo pain from coming back when i'm on a break with the cbc: 4 days before getting off the pills start taking 2 aleve in the morning and 2 at night, and do this through the 7 days while off the pill, as well as 3-4 days after you get back on them...hopefully that will keep the inflammation down enough for the pain to not come back.... I worry that doing that a lot will be bad for my liver though, but who knows.... i will give it a try next time.

i had my first lap done a year ago tomorrow. afterwards i continued contast BC up until about....july? and than i just quit completely mostly because i just couldn't take the breakthrough bleeding anymore...normally it would just last a couple of days and eventually go away but than it started and would not stop; it was non-stop for 6 weeks. my hormones and just everything was out of wack and my body was trying so hard to have a period all the time, like if i was minutes late taking me pill i would bleed. well it seemed that exaggerated anyway but it was just too much. my drs kept switching the pill and nothing helped. now i am not treating my endo at all and the pain is back...i am debating going back on the pill or just trying another natural method...but i am worried it is spreading and going to get more severe. it is one thing to do with the discomfort. it is another worrying if it is going to affect my fertility...

I have been on Orth Tri Cyclen Lo as a switchover from my last continuous pill. It has been 4-5 weeks now, and I'm feeling pretty crazy on it! Plus, it hasn't kept me from bleeding yet either. I spot or more than spot every day almost all day long. I don't know how much longer to give it really. Any advice?

I know this was a couple of months ago but I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of it. I feel like I have one infection after another and feel fluish for weeks at a time without actually developing the flu. Just wondering if you figured out what was wrong? Thanks

I was told today, by a new doctor that I should be taking my BCPs continuously. My original doctor prescribed the Yaz nearly two years ago, and today is the first time I've heard anything about taking them without a break. The new doctor was completely shocked that I wasn't already taking them continuously. Nobody ever told me to! Is it normal to take BCPs continuously? Does it make a difference?

I did ask my doctor if it could have anything to do with the pills, and even though she didn't say it absolutely was them, she said it was possible they could help have an affect. Anything is possible I guess. I did finally get over that, but it took a long time!

I've been on various BC pills for years and years, since i was about 17. I couldn't imagine NOT being on them. That said, its not always been an easy ride- different ones affected me differnetly, had differing amounts of breakthrough bleeding, put on weight, one that i tried if i was even an hour late in taking it i would start bleeding. Its only been the last 6 months of so i've been taking it continously (9 wks on, 1 wk off).
So i was wondering, does anyone else on continous BC still get PMS symptoms? I find the week before the placebo pills (which i don't take, just go straight to the next packet) i feel really PMSy, i get a bit irratible and a bit more sore, as if things inside me are gearing up for the next week. I find this weird as there is no change in the hormones i'm taking, so how does my body know which week i am in?
I've asked my dr about this but she just tells me its all in my head because apparently you shouoldn't get PMS on the pill (i think thats a load of bull, when taking it normally i always did) but the thing is, i don't realise until there's only 2 or so tablets to go- then i'm like oh that must be why i've been feeling like that this week.
Opinions? Anyone else get this?
