Hi, bixa525. If you do a search for continuous birth control pills, you will find about 20 or so different posts related to continuous BCP's; however, I think this is the first post specifically for taking continuous BCP's.
My experience with continuous BCP's is that I had breakthrough bleeding (But then again, I had breakthrough when I would just do one month at a time w/ a placebo week!). My gyne told me to double-up on the pills for up to a week or until the bleeding stopped. I wound up having cyclic breakthrough while on continuous BCP's--one week of bleeding every month, even though I was NOT taking placebos.
If you would like to search for more posts on this subject (or you don't get a lot of responses to this post), you can up your chances for finding related posts.
--> copied/pasted from another post.
The best way I have found to get the best results on a search is to scroll near the bottom of the search page. There, you will find an option that says, "Posted within the last." You can type the amount of time back you'd like to search. I usually type in 365 days. The next option down from that allows you to choose how many responses per search you want shown. I think it defaults to 10. Hope that helps

I tried BC for 3 months - Seasonale and still continued having symptoms of endo plus break through bleeding the last 3 weeks. Sometimes BC works for endo and sometimes it doesn't

I tried continuos bc too and didnt have much luck I had no period for the first 3 packs of pills then when i had it it was heavy and then I continued to spot I also developed a small fibroid on my uterus, I dont think all those hormones are good for our bodies, finally i had a vaginal hyst and never bled again, my pain just got worse and worse where it became a daily problem and my periods were like labor so the surgery was a good choice for me even though I still suffer now from ovarian cysts and endo returning I kept my ovaries, I wish I just took it all out, Im tired of dealing with painful cysts all the time
instead of bc, you ladies should try some natural pro-gest cream i never knew about it until recently its worth a try

I had back to back pills a few times but it was specifically cos i was a heavy bleeder and constantly needing to take iron. It wasn't so good for me, again I had breakthrough bleeding and a lot of pain. plus the pills started 'not working', they just seemed to wear off being effective and breakthrough bleeding got tons worse so I had to change my pill.

I was on cont. Bc for about 6 months. I had break through bleeding and had to start my cycle. which SUCKED!! i was on vacation popping pills and tried to make the best out of what was left. I still had some pain while i was on contin. lots of emotional problems, pent up i guess i felt very anxious during the time i was "suppose" to cycle. I guess it helped, i have problems w/my ovaries so they still continued on there merry way... even though I wasnt ovulating.... when the cont. bc wasnt doing its job in surpressing my ovaries.. i was told to go on lupron. NO thanks!!! so im not anythng, doing the diet and taking my herbs or whatever you call them =-)

Nope, my doctor.. a supposive fertility specialist never mentioned anything he just simply stated, your not responded to the bc any more and i dont know why.. NICE!! he was also the doctor, who detached my ovary and fallopine tube from my pelvic wall and removed all my scar tissue and still told me i didnt have endo. great doctor huh?

Wow... to Jjuls... sounds like we had the same doc at some point and time...(see my post in the introduction). I supposedly now DONT HAVE ENDO either. Anyway, back to topic. I was diagnosed in january of 2004 with Endo. I refused to take any other med but the continual bcp's. My dose was always 1/50, the strongest i guess that one can get. I still had pain quite often, and the more time tht past I had it more every day. Now I just came out fo surgery on the 1st of Nov and the other doc says that I dont have any endometrisos. So someone is lying to me. Did they help. i want to say no.Yet the new doc who did my lap says dont hae end. IDK.......

I was on bc pills continuously for about 6 weeks. It was supposed to be 3 months, but my reaction was so bad my doctor told me to stop them. I had 20 days of breakthrough bleeding, severe nausea, aggravated anxiety (I have anxiety issues anyway, but the pills made them a lot worse), extremely elevated blood pressure, and continuous headaches. AND I still ovulated! (confirmed by my doctor). The endo pain was significantly better, but with all the side effects I was having, it just wasn't worth it. So now I'm doing a gluten-free diet and controlling the pain mostly with cinnamon and chamomile. It's not perfect, but it's better than the side effects.
That said, medications affect me very strongly, and this was a higher-dose pill than most women are on. If every woman on the pill had those side effects, it wouldn't be as popular as it is, right? It just wasn't a good treatment for me.

I was on marvelon cont for almost a year and had 3 periods. This is prior to my surgery. After the surgery I was put on lupron for three months, and now I am back on the marvelon. I was good on the marvelon for time but near the end it was in pain so not sure if it would be any different now after the surgery. I will let you know.

I have just started CB treatment. Started in July after surgery to remove an ovarian cyst and my left fallopian tube. I did fine for the first two months, a little break through when I was supposed to get my period, but nothing big. Then on the third month, started having a period at the wrong time and it would not stop. I had to stop taking the pill and start a new pack a week later, but now I am supposed to try having a period every other month. I really hope this works as I am getting tired of trying new approaches to the same old problem.

Well its not bad, just an option. The wait and see approach.
Docs when they list the options will list wait and see, surgery, and hormone treatment as the 3 options.
Are you doing better off them?
It probs isnt good to do absolutely nothing if your getting symptoms, even if its just diet changes, thats still something.

well in a way i'm doing better, but in a way i'm not. the pill usually gave me a lot of break through bleeding, which caused a lot of pain. but i think it gave me more of an appetite. now i hardly eat, and the pain isn't as much just because i'm only bleeding for about a week each month as opposed to all the time. but does being untreated, make the endo grow more??
