Just wanted to share I've been on Aygestin (norethindrone) for a month now. My dr prescribed 10mg a day everyday. I was having pain recurring 18 months post lap and he asked me to try some medical treatment prior to another lap. I have to say it has really done a great job. Most pain is gone. I have a little here and there but nothing like it was before. No side effects either except worsened night sweats (already had them just worse now) and irritability might be an issue for others around me ;D

Yay I found a norethindrone sister! I however have not had as much luck. I still get bad cramps, just random, and weight gain like you would not believe! I've gained 7 pounds in a month!! Ugh!

I went from 125 to 145-150 on Nore. Granted, I was on it for over a year. :\

People look at me like I have 7 heads when I say the weight gain is from a medication. I also feel a ton worse emotionally on this crap as well (like the inability to really leave the couch except for the 30 minutes on the treadmill)... UGH! And as I sit here typing this I'm cramping!

I've been on nore since Sept 07... I've had two more laps and cramps every month. I don't think it's doing the job for me. I see my doc in two weeks for lap #3 follow-up - I'm hoping to try something new.

It just doesn't seem worth it, I feel worse with these pills, maybe its time to stop them completely, I don't know....

I hear ya, but I just get worried that if it came back for me so fast that it would be almost immediate without them. I'd like to be hormone free, but I don't think that is in the cards for me.

Maybe you should try something different though?? I don't think we should feel worse on the pills then we do without them..... Craziness! The things we put our body through....

K girls I need your thoughts on something. My doc pulled me off the med after being on it for 6+ months, I couldn't handle the side effects. He said to expect a period in about 3 to 7 days after stopping it. I'm on day 5 and ...... nothing yet. I can't be pregnant... it would be a miracle conception if that occured. My question is, norethindrone prevents uterine lining from forming, so do I even have anything there to "shed??" Thoughts? Anyone?

I was on norethindrone since Oct. 08. Just took myself off to try natural approaches. I found the meds made me gain weight, low energy and irritable all the time. The first couple of months I felt great it was the past few months that I had adverse effects. Oh yeah and the bigger problem, post menopausal vagina was so painful I couldn't have intercourse. Naturally there was another drug for that problem which didn't help at all so I gave it all up.

I couldn't find much on here about this drug. It is fake progesterone. I'm hoping this drug will not have the same awful side effects.
I am taking this to try to 'calm down' my left ovary which after excision surgery 6 months ago has now made another large cyst, which apparently burst about 12 days ago. I've been spotting every day since. Have been taking the 5 mg pill each day at 2 pm for 4 days now and seriously, havent' felt too emotional, havent' had recurrence of the cyst pain, and haven't started gaining weight. I'm happy so far.
I had called my surgeon, who's in another state, to ask her if she thought I should have the ovary removed (by a doctor here) or if she wanted to remove it herself, or if there are other options/things to be aware of. I was pretty pleased that my surgeon recommended I take the Aygestin for 3 weeks and then have another ultrasound to see what the ovary is doing
