5 days. I have been spotting since I burst the cyst (for about 12 days) and after 4 days of this drug now on top of the spotting I am getting my period too it looks like. The spotting from the cyst is dark purple but the period is red so there you have it lol. I'm just wondering how long the spotting will continue. Getting a little tired of constant, constant bleeding!

Okay, my doctor prescribed this to me, but i'm a little freaked out about it because the dose is SO MUCH higher than micronor. I'm wondering if I can just take half a pill or something...

micronor and aygestin aren't the same progestin, so the dosages may be different. So I wouldn't worry that it seems much higher since that type of progestin might warrant a higher dose. The visanne I take is 2mg of progestin, but it's yet another type compared to the two I just mentioned.
Try it and see how it affects you. Although, I do know that the micronor type is known for being a very low dose, which is why people often have all the frequent bleeding. As I mentioned before, I had the every two week period thing too for the 6 months that I took it.
The no period thing is great! (you mentioned that would probably happen in another thread.) Hope that aygestin will work for you!

ahh, thanks, i didn't know they were different! so far i've been taking 2.5mg a day anyway, just to see how my body reacts to that before i start taking more. So far I've had no bleeding and no real side effects besides a little bit of bloat, and being thirsty/ having to pee alllll the time. I definitely prefer those to bleeding all the time! haha

Redwood said: micronor and aygestin aren't the same progestin, so the dosages may be different.
But, Micronor is norethindrone (0.35 mg to be exact).
And Aygestin, when I look it up, also says it's norethindrone, but just a higher dosage.

Yes, no period!!! VERY light spotting that i don't need a pad for. It's awesome. I've decided to keep my dose at 5mg for a month, and then go back down to 2.5mg. Not because I've seen any bad side effects on the 5mg, but i'm just really freaked out about taking that long term.
Still wake up suuuuuper thirsty which is my worst side effect. Definitely get overly emotional sometimes like i'm on my period too, but it's not crazy or anything.

jtean - hey! I was just curious to see how you are doing now. How's the aygestin working for you? Still no period, hopefully?

Yep, still no period. Still get the very light spotting. I definitely feel way better on this stuff, buttttttt, I am once again getting inflammation, and do have some pain over my right ovary on occasion. I have had NO stabbing ovary pain, thankfully, and nothing that makes me want to lie in bed, or that keeps me from going out, but i am worried about something being there. I'm pretty sure that while i was on the micronor, something could have been growing since i was bleeding constantly, so i hope it's from that and not something that started after the aygestin (which wouldn't make sense to me, but endo is crazy, so who knows)
Definitely plan to get an ultra sound to see if anything is going on in there.
ALSO, I now have no side effects at all aside from spotting.

jtean - that's great that you have NO symptoms at all besides spotting.
I stopped the spotting, but now I am spotting a little bit again. It's around the time where I normally would have been having my period, so I wonder if that's why I started spotting again. But other than that, I don't really have any side effects, except maybe at night in bed I get warmer than usual and have had no change in A/C, etc.
I am wondering if in September, when I go to get my next shot of Depo, if I should ask to start Aygestin in place of Depo. All I need is something to stop my period for a while to hopefully see if that shrinks my endometrioma. I have no problem with staying on Depo (as long as my weight stabilizes), but the only little problem I have with Depo is that supposedly after you stop taking it, it could take a year or two to get pregnant.
I don't plan on getting pregnant for a year or two, but not sure what to do really. I'm also afraid because I've heard that those who had a period after Depo again for the first time was extremely painful. I mean, I'm used to painful periods, but after not having a period for a while is very addictive! LOL

Yeah, i have a feeling the first period after Aygestin might be bad too, not looking forward to it! I have no idea if Aygestin affects your fertility after you take it like depo, but I didn't ask my doctor about it. Something kind of worrying happened this morning though :/ I woke up super early with the stabbing ovary pain. Now, with my endometrioma before, the stabbing would last for hours and was unbearable. This was really bad stabbing for a few minutes and then i just fell back to sleep. When i woke up again for work and went to the bathroom, there was a lot of spotting (more than usual) I'm guessing that a cyst on my right ovary burst, but i've never had spotting from a cyst before, not even my endometrioma. I'm hoping that this was a hemoragatic cyst maybe and not an endometrioma bursting and spreading stuff everywhere It was just weird because of the lower pain level, and the bleeding.

Yikes, jtean. I have no idea what that could mean. It does sound like a cyst might have burst, but I have no knowledge about that sort of thing except for the pain that come with endometriomas -- that is something I know the feeling of.
Keep me updated on what's going on. I am crossing my fingers and hoping all is okay.

Did the pain ever come back or did it just happen that one time?

What I want to know is if ovary/cyst pain can mean the cyst is shrinking? I've had some pain in both ovaries lately, though supposedly the only cyst I have is on the right ovary (I had a cyst on my left ovary last year). I assume the cyst can cause pain when it's growing or whatever, but wondering if it would cause pain or stabs or "feelings" in the area when it shrinks. I keep hoping that the feelings I feel from it means it's shrinking... LOL... :-\
