Can't really comment on the law stuff because I don't know anything about it, but just wanted to check in to see, outside of that aspect of it, how is the fever? what is your plan, physically? Is there anything you can do to get help with the infection while you are pursuing this other option?

Fever is gone for a few days now I just need it to stay away. I hope the lawyer can do something to get the no fault insurance. I am not a Dr and to be afraid of your Dr's decisions is the worst feeling in the world. When you have to second guess everything he says so you don't end up getting worse sucks. I am so afraid of things going backwards. I am trying to make the right decisions but I have no clue if they are right. So I am leaving the wound open and continue to pack it until the pocket of bacteria is gone. I hope it's the right decision. I woke up yesterday with massive pain to the left and right of my belly button. Then surprise this morning my period came. This is the same exact pain as before surgery. I told him about it a few times but he said it was the nerves around the surgical area healing. I hope he is right and my thoughts are wrong. i think my problems may be back. The feeling of being alone are worse then ever. I do not know what to do anymore.

Go with your gut, keep with what you're doing, and hang tight with your PCP. My first period after my first excision was really bad and I was really worried, but it did get better. I don't know if this one is first or second for you, but here is an article from the CEC about it: centerforendo.com/articles/endocomingback.htmYou are never alone, we are here and there are doctors out there who care (I would set you up with mine in a heart beat, drive you there, and set you up on my futon if you needed!). The no fever is huge, congrats!!

Aww Semicolon that was so nice. Thank you sooo much. The only option I do have right now is for me to keep making the decisions and hope they are right. I felt by leaving the incision open the bacteria had no place to go but out so I hope I made the right choice. I never thought going in for surgery i would need a medical education to recover. It's scary making the decisions but I cant trust his.

Kimmie,
I'm glad you are making progress with the lawyer and stuff like that. I also think you are making a good choice to not stitch it up. hang in there. Sorry I haven't been responding much, just been a crazy few weeks for me. I hope you continue to improve! hugs!

Hi loveshoes, Thank you, every time I make a decission I second guess myself and a strong feeling comes over me not to trust him. So I keep going with my gut feelings and so far they have been right. I hope all is well with you.

Always trust your gut instinct. ALWAYS. If you don't trust your doctor then don't force yourself to think otherwise. You are doing the right thing by listening to your feelings on this. It's a big deal. This is YOUR body and it's the only one you get so being cautious and careful is definitely the right thing to do. Let us know how the visit with the lawyer goes. Malpractice lawsuits can be quite exhausting and sometimes they take a long time before you get anywhere. If you feel this is the right thing to do then you have to really commit to it because it's a long process. We are always here when you need someone to talk to. You have fought long and hard to get well again! Don't give up!

I called a different hospital today and asked for referrals for the Infectious disease specialist and a new Gyno/Surgeon. I tried calling today but they were closed so will try again tomorrow. Maybe now I can get the treatment I need.

Thank you Jenaya,
I feels so lost sometimes then I remind myself you have to stay strong because if you don't do what you need to, to take care of this, real bad things can happen. I have to talk myself through it, then do it. My nerves are long gone but between research and the lawyer I know what I need to do. Finding a Dr (Surgeon) to take over has not been easy no one wants to take over his mess up. So I keep researching and calling. I will not give up until I am better. I can't believe how serious Serratia is. After reading up on it I had a good cry, cursed myDr up and Down, then moved into action searching for a Dr. Keep praying for me please. The pain on the sides of my belly button have gotten so bad it's hard to walk. I need one Dr to step up and say I will help you. I have two to call tomorrow that were recommended from the hospital.

I went to the Infectious Disease specialist today. I can't tell you how good it felt to have a Dr that is willing to help. She did a blood culture to make sure the Serratia and other bacteria are not in my blood stream and said it should take about seven days bc that's how long it could take for something to show up. She explained that depending on the results I may have to get IV antibiotics. She felt around by the hardness above the open wound and said she wants a CAT scan of the pelvic area and abdomen to make sure it has not formed an abscess and depending on the CT results I may have to get it drained either by cutting me open or by injection again depends on what the CT shows. She put me on Leviquin and explained that by time this is all done I may have to go see a Dr for my intestines ( GREAT ).
I finally have a Dr willing to help me and treat the problem that is not afraid of stepping on my Gyno's toes. By the way last time I saw him he told me he would see me next year for my pap I was done and had nothing to worry about and that you never do a culture on a wound. This was Tuesday. So I was able to find another Gyno and I go on 24th.
Both Dr's are about 45 min from me but I don't care how long the drive is I am finally getting help after 2 months.

I truly hope that you are feeling better soon and glad that you have found a doc that is willing to listen to you. I cannot believe he wanted to stitch an infected wound, what a doosh. Please keep us posted and let us know how you are doing. Did your blood cultures end up growing anything out?

Looks like both of these doc's are a little over an hour from you. They are both on the Board's "recommended list of endo specialists". •New York Endometriosis and Infertility Center Dr. Kanayama (Website: www.gynecosurgery.com/endometriosis.htm Recommended by Endo-Resolved reader who had excellent first hand experience with this doctor.) •New York Endometriosis Specialist Tamer Seckin, MD Park East Gynecology & Surgery, PC 872 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10065
