Thanks Keri that last bit means a lot. I actually am familiar with Bend, my parents live there It's a really beautiful town and in the summer every day is a party, it's amazing. I have the Descheutes river to thank for my rapidly darkening tan, lol. I'm going to drive over the mountain and spend a couple of days there for the appointment. I think Redwine's fees are similar.. I can't believe the consult & exam aren't one in the same. That sucks! Sounds like I'll be shelling out more cash also since he wants to do a pelvic exam. Jeez louise!

Yes prepare yourself for $ to be given day of consult. Call and ask how much it will cost that way you don't go into shock when you are there. My husband has family in Bend they have a nice estate out there. That is what they call it LOL The Belden Estate maybe you know them or your parents......I got excited when I thought I was going there and researched the area. They have a fully staffed home & a farm on the property. We considered Redwine or Nyc doc but New York was closer for us. A hop, skip and away it sounds like Bend is your spot. Good Luck:)

Hi girls, I need a little quick advice!! I'm in Bend at my parents' house and being much more active than usual tending to little munchkins... anyway, I don't have access to my heating pad as usual, nor do I have the time to sit still long enough to use it even if I did, so I'm having trouble getting a handle on my pain. It's not out of control, but it's a nagging pain (you know, the skewer feeling I describe near my ovaries coupled with backache and constant cramps) that for some reason Ibuprofen doesn't seem to touch. I thought it would help since it's an anti-inflammatory, but whenever I take it (I take 3 at a time) I feel no change. I'm also not even supposed to be taking much in the way of Ibuprofen because I've had stomach ulcers before and my GI told me to avoid it... so I certainly see no point in sneaking it here and there if it doesn't even help me. Do you girls know of any OTC painkillers (or another idea, as long as it's easily accessible and doable -- i.e. nothing diet related, since I'm at my parents, and nothing that requires relaxing because I'm babysitting 3 year olds lol) that are better for taking the edge off of this kind of pain & discomfort? Any advice would be appreciated, I feel really bad because I keep having to sit down and take breaks to alleviate the back pain & have a few minutes in a more comfy curled up position for the cramps and I feel terrible that my mom and grandma have to pick up my slack. Thank you's all around for anyone with any brilliant ideas! And I love you's all around just for the hell of it

Hopefully someone with small children will come in and give you some advice since they're pros at this sort of thing. Have you tried Tylenol for your pain? That's not nearly as harsh on your stomach as an NSAID. Also there are heat packs that you can buy from a drug store that wrap around your mid section that you could wear while chasing around little ones. They are usually for low back pain but why not just flip it around? But in a pinch, I use my lap top as a heating pad. HAHA. But I'm not sure that will work for you because you have to sit. I wish I could be more help!

Heat wraps rock! They aren't as good as a heating pad but get the job done.

I use the heatwraps also--from any drug store. I've also found that aleve works better for me than advil, and adding tylenol also helps. good luck!

Thanks girls! Have any of you heard of Ponstel? It's an NSAID... I don't know much about it but I guess my mom's doctor gave it to her for her period cramps, and I tried it and it seems to work pretty well. Thoughts?

all NSAIDs have the same issue with stomach ulcers. I had to tell you if you ever get somewhere without a heating pad, a sock filled with rice works well! It holds the heat a long time

Karla, at the risk of sounding really stupid, do you cook the rice first or...? HAHA

Nope, raw rice! When heated up, it retains heat and then you can re-heat it as needed.

I've also used those "hot hand" things.

OOOH! Haha thanks Karen. I'm so excited for my appointment with Redwine you guys! I'm also really nervous though =/ is it weird that I'm worried he'll tell me I'm making everything up? I guess maybe that's a paranoia you kinda develop when you have so many docs invalidate what you're feeling =/

I know I was totally paranoid about my meeting with Dr. Mosbrucker! You have enough drs tell you its normal... I was so anxious that I didnt sleep well at all the night before. I also had a tiny emotional freak out right in the middle. I used a bathroom break as an excuse to deal with it! So if your feeling the same way, I would say we are both normal! LOL

Nah, I wouldn't worry too much about Redwine brushing you off. He deals with all the women that ARE brushed off!
Just keep in mind that Redwine is a surgeon and he'll probably suggest another lap because that's what surgeons do! Too bad you have no idea what was done during your initial lap. Did that first surgeon ever provide a detailed surgery report??

OMG for a long time I was terrified to see a doctor and every time I walked into a new office I was scared they'd blow me off. I think that fear, unfortunately, comes from experience. I really don't think Dr. Redwine would treat you like that though. It'll be OK!
