Yeah my issues started before I picked up smoking again, I'm starting to have issues with my arms now too and my leg nearly went from under me last week while I had a big TV in my arms. I'm going to ask to speak to a chiropractor but my sister is coming with me because apparently I'm a sap at appointments and she will be telling my GP to order an MRI. I have seen my legs and feet during 2 of these episodes and it certainly wasn't circulation as there was sensation and the usual pinkness, though I've had separate incidences of blue toes.

Have you ever heard of Raynaud's syndrome or sometimes called Raynaud phenomenon? I'm not sure if it can explain how your legs are giving out but it can explain some of your symptoms. Raynaud phenomenon results from an exaggerated vasoconstriction of arteries and arterioles most commonly of the hands and feet. It's more of a circulation problem than a neurological issue. The main characteristic is how it causes discoloration of the fingers and toes. They can change from being blue, to being really red. Other symptoms can be numbness or tingling sensations. Here's a good link for some more information: arthritis.webmd.com/tc/raynauds-phenomenon-topic-overviewI still think you're better off seeing a neurologist for these types of problems though. And an MRI can really be helpful. I really hope you get help soon Cherry. These symptoms are scary.

that was what came to my mind as well Jenaya, they had an episode on mystery diagnosis and her symptoms sound awfully similair to yours cherry. Hers was related to a smoking habit. I wonder if you tube has any clips of that show? I really have to stop watching it because i get so angry when they wont help people.

Whoa it was on mystery diagnosis?? I love that show! I haven't seen an episode about Raynauds. I remember an episode of man who had symptoms of turning blue and his was all due to smoking but I don't think that episode was about Raynauds.
I don't know much about it but from what I've read, I didn't see anything about a connection to smoking. It is normal for our arteries and arterioles to constrict when a stimulus such a stress or cold temperature comes along. But for people with Raynaud's, that constriction is over-exaggerated causing the symptoms of blue skin and numbness. I don't know what the cause of raynauds is.

I'm very familiar with reynauds as my sister has it. The symptoms haven't been affected by my starting or stopping smoking it was a relatively light habit. I saw changes in my health but not this. Shame to say this drove me to it but I'm stopped for 2 weeks now. Anyway my sister got done in a minute what I couldn't get done in 6 months of explaining and pleading. She's an angel. I will have an assessment with my GP who is acting like this is the first she's heard of it. But I see a musculoskeletal specialist to look at my spine in about 2 weeks. Grateful is not an adequate word. Relieved also. Been so frightened and you can't exactly talk about it when you don't know anything. Sorry. I'm winked out here I know we all seems to get chilly feet in my mums family, but my model citizen mother smoked through my sisters gestation so the doctor pinpointed that as the cause straight away. Oh yeah so not reynauds i get cold hands and feet but nothing like reynauds. That's a whole other misery in itself. I've often wondered if these nasty sensations that we're all familiar with in our abdomens, is it a reynauds type effect because endo demands its own supply and can have its own vessels. Ugh this disease is nasty.

WOW Jenaya you have so much knowlegde. I had never heard of that. Cherry your sister has it? I gotta say girls I started reading this only today and it was to check on my little Cherry make sure you were ok honey I was not sure where the numbness was affecting. My face feels numb and so does my left arm at times. Not anything like yours tho I am sorry I def think neurolgist is the key doc for this. I have never mentioned my numbness it just seems for me silly to mention it with all the other stuff I feel dumb saying oh I cant feel my face. I am glad your sis can go with you and speak up on your behalf my twin sis does that for me too.
Blue toes honey ummm demand a MRI. Really this is scary! The tingle feeling you refer to I get it all the time in my abdomin I call it twitching not one doc can tell me why it is like that tho. I assume my endo they couldnt get or the cysts who knows. Not sure any understand what I even mean. So glad all of you do.

Ugh this disease is nasty. You know, that's a very interesting thought Cherry. Endo does demand it's own supply which can't be easy on our bodies! I really worry about you cherry. I worry about things like MS. Is it possible that you can get an MRI? Sometimes the MS lesions can show up on spinal MRIs along with brain MRIs. The most definitive diagnosis comes from spinal fluid but an MRI can really give a lot of answers.

Sorry if my posts make no sense just bedding in this gabapentin so headrush central here! I will hopefully have an MRI. My sister insisted yesterday and my gp was all of a sudden worried like I'd never told her any of this before. I'm so relieved to be seeing someone. I have been a sap but she has fought my corner this last week. Just worth her own weight in gold. My mothers older sister has MS but we're not in touch. She was the last one in my.mums family to have uterine cancer and the only one to survive it. Our family and its gynae issues! Haha that twinkle in my eye is me laughing cos I was taking a photo of myself and gonna do one of those stupid duck pouts but my face was hurting from trying and laughing and it turned out nice so I kept it

She's coming with me to every appointment now. My health issues must really impact on her and its not fair. Ha the duck face was a joke I'd never do it. Its horrific. With these new meds the pain becomes different so I will keep you updated. Like sharper but more manageable. I'm happy. I don't think MS is hereditary but I will mention it.
