All in all I feel remarkably well. Gas is easing off, for now anyway.

Feels great to have answers! I'm glad you're doing ok. I hope that all the medications will help with killing off the rest of the endo. My word of advice, TAKE IT EASY! We get tricked into thinking we feel better only to get knocked onto our asses. Get some rest and keep us posted.

My stitches are on the inside with just some steristrips, I promise I'll take it easy 'cos I don't want anything splitting open! It feels great to have answers. I'm a little nervous about the Provera, side effects are things I could do without, but we'll see how it goes. Still got a little bit of niggly pain, guessing that's down to the fact my insides have been poked about in! So glad it's all over. I'm such a woos, so many of you girls have been through several of these, not to mention the hysterectomies. I'm quite proud of myself though, I got through it pretty much by myself as my mum wasn't really allowed in with me for much of it.
Will post my lap story tomorrow, and keep y'all posted over the next couple of days, but I'm doing well xx

Glad to hear you're out and doing well. And I'm glad you finally have some real answers, although it sucks that you have it. As one friend put it, now you can put all your pain, fears, and frustrations all in one little box - now that it has a name, it doesn't seem as huge and unknowing as it did before. Wishing you a speedy recovery and the sense to not do too much in the meantime!

Things is Karen, I don't think I have it as bad as a lot of other women do, and what's left sounds like it's more manageable. I'd have been so upset if he'd said there was nothing there, so I feel quite lucky in away that I got the outcome I did. And I already feel calmer, just knowing that I wasn't imagining it, and that I was right to persevere all along makes me feel better. If I'd let my GP fob me off and not gone private, who knows how bad it would have got! Having you girls and this forum has seriously helped keep my sanity in tact for the last few months, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart :-)

It sounds like you have a good attitude about it all. And give yourself a pat on the back for being so persistent!

Just posted my lap story........very detailed and very long!! I'm amazed by how clearly I can remember it all. I think I've come through it fairly well, and if I ever have to have another surgery like this i won't be nearly so nervous.
Quick question - how often should I change dressings?

Hmmm, starting to have some niggly pain down below. Not sure what kind of pain is to be expected, and what I should be concerned about.

So glad you have some answers I agree with jenaya, it's a relief to know. My first gynae told me I had IBS, and it's such a pile of negativity to be in so much pain and yet not to be believed.

I think some pain is normal - after all, they did moved stuff around and treated some areas - there's some internal healing going on! A call into your doc would be warranted if your pain seems really out of whack.
As for changing your dressing, I think my post-op instructions said once a day? And to keep the area dry? Did you get any post-op instructions?

Morning. Totally gutted today. Ever since I woke up after the lap I've had none of the back pain that I've lived with for months/years - I was so excited thinking that removing the endo was taking the strain off my kidneys. Also wondered if maybe it was the painkillers I got in hospital. Woke up this morning and have the same debilitating back pain again. This totally sucks.
Karen I got some instructions but they were vague. Surgeon said to take the steri strips off on Boxing Day, nurse said to wait a week, but in the meantime to keep it dry. And I'm not sure how long I'm supposed to wait before driving. God it was so nice being able to stand up/sit down/bend without everything in my lower back pulling and acheing. Having no pain made me realise how bad the pain had been. I hope it goes away again........some of the crampy pain I had yesterday afternoon has eased off today though.

I think this happens to all of us. You are still feeling good on the drugs and then a couple days later, WHAM you feel pain again. I didn't feel sore until about the 2nd or 3rd day either. Don't get too down on yourself just yet. Give it some time. But like Karen said, if it's unbearable then it's not normal and maybe a call to the doctor would be a good idea. As far as the steri strips. Those are supposed to fall of on their own usually in about a week they're ok to come off. I kinda think boxing day is a little too soon if you ask me. We used to advise people to just keep them dry as best as you can and let them fall off on their own. If you get them wet in the shower then its not the end of the world. Mine stayed FOReverrrrrr and I ended up pulling them off after about 1 1/2 weeks and I laughed at how tiny the little incisions were. As far as driving, I guess that's more your call. But it's best to take it easy as long as you possibly can. And if you're on narcotics for the pain then, of course, obviously don't drive will taking those.
Ease up on the bending, standing, sitting... you need some rest girl!

I think my expectations of this were a little skewed. My best friend had a couple of laps about 5 years ago when she was TTC. They were purely diagnostic for her, and she was on a hen party with us the day after one of them......so I suppose I feel like I should be recovering as quick. Then I have to remind myself that mine wasn't purely diagnostic. I just don't know what to expect, what's normal and what's not. It doesn't hurt too much to bend but I pretty much doing it by bending my knees. I'm independent and stubborn and don't want to feel like an invalid. The incision in my belly button is a little sore but not too much. I've changed the dressings twice now and there doesn't seem to be any additional bleeding. When should I stop putting a dressing on? The steri's will never come off if I keep putting a dressing over........grrrr.....wish I'd asked more questions at the hospital!!
