Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I didn't want to put it in the 'Where are you with your endo' thread because I don't know if I have it.........
Have had pre-op assessment today. Went ok. Only concern is that I have fairly high blood pressure which may be an issue if it permanently stays that high. Hoping it was only that bad because I was in hospital situation etc etc etc.
She explained the procedures (lap & dye studies, hysteroscopy and insertion of Mirena coil) and I got to ask a few questions. Also gave a urine sample which showed up some blood although my period finished 2 days ago and have had no spotting. Interesting.
Also had an MRI on back and pelvis about a month ago, finally have a letter back today with an appt to go back on 17th December. Lap is 22nd December, so hopefully by Christmas I'll have a fairly good idea as to what's going on. Will use this thread to post updates as and when they happen. Thanks for 'listening'!!

My entire family tests positive for urine in the blood. We have some weird heriditary kidney disorder where the lining of our kidneys sometimes sheds tissue into the urine. But in normal people's cases, sometimes blood just shows up in trace amounts especially when you're sick. I don't know why that is but it seems like if they did an MRI/blood work it would have ruled out anything serious like stones or any other kidney disorders. Glad to see you're getting a lap soon! It's so nice to finally get answers!

Have had some blood tests recently and kidney function was normal, although nurse yesterday took some more 'cos my BP is a bit on the high side. Will have to wait and see what they say about MRI results. Waiting....waiting......waiting.....s'orrible innit?

ewww high bp?? yikes! Have they done anything to further check that to make sure you're not pre-hypertensive? I know you can get a high reading every once in a while especially if you're in pain. If you monitor it over a period of time and still notice that you're always reading high then I would think you would need further testing like an EKG, cardiac blood work, even maybe a chest xray? High blood pressure is nothing to mess with. I hope it was just a one-time high reading and nothing chronic

Jenaya sadly it's been high-ish for a few years. I think there's a touch of 'white coat syndrome' in there, but I think the underlying cause maybe whatever's going on in my tummy. I've had numerous ECGs, Echos, kidney scans, blood tests and everything appears to be normal. Saw a cardiologist a few years ago and he put me down as borderline but not reccomending meds, which my GP had already had me on and they made absolutely no difference. I also quit smoking for a while and it made no difference. I haven't been to gym for a while cos of pain/tiredness etc but when I was going I could happily do an hour or more including a swim, with no difficulty so I know I'm not that unfit. The way the GP and practice nurse handled the whole thing infuriated me so there's little point in going back there too much as it will deffo be high - even thinking about that damned woman sends it up. I have a digital monitor at home and I go between fairly normal readings and high readings, it's very frustrating. But I want to get myself fixed, get back to gym and get fit and then see what it's doing. But as far as I can tell from a cardio perspective everything's fine. Have also recently bought a new car and I don't want to smoke in it and to afford it I have to quit, aswell as wanting to be as fit as poss for the lap - so in the next couple of days I'm going on nicotine patches.

Oh wow you've had the full work up. Does hypertension run in your family? Did they talk to you about a low sodium diet? From what it sounds like, you've tried everything. Some diets help lower blood pressure including diets rich in calcium, vitamin D.. etc.. I'm sure you've tried it though cause it sounds like you've been dealing with this for a while. Good job on the quitting smoking! From what I hear it's an extremely difficult thing to do. That's definitely in the right step toward better health! Good job!

Good article! I had a similar discovery a few months back that led me to try natural progesterone cream to tweak things a bit. Still have some tweaking to do, but I think there's something to the whole hormone imbalance thing in general, and anything you can do to help your hormones into balance is a good thing!
And best of luck quitting smoking! A friend of mine had an epiphany when she realized that when she slipped up here and there, it didn't mean she had to go whole-hog with it again, just meant she had to pick up where she left off with the quitting. I know it's not as easy as that, but...

I've tried dozens and dozens of times. The more I try and fail the harder it is to try again - but I know I'll never do it unless I keep trying. I hate everything about and really don't want to be a smoker but it's damed hard.
Funnily enough Jenaya, every time my BP gets brought up, the salt thing is hardly ever mentioned. By and large my diet is pretty good. I add a little good quality sea salt to my cooking but never add it to my plate, I don't think my diet is particularly high in salt. When I was taking BC control pills my BP wasn't this much of an issues (odd, I know...) which is what leads me to think that my current symptoms are possibly linked with the hig BP. I really don't want to go on BP meds until I exhaust all other possibilities. My mood swings are diabolical - get angry - raised adrenalin/cortisone - high BP. Hoping against hope I get the answers I need soon! I read that article over and over, sooo interesting!

Nearly 3.5 days with no ciggies - not been too difficult to be honest. A few niggly moments where I would have previously reached for a cigarette I had to remind myself 'Nooo you don't do that anymore!' - I didn't want one, it's just what I would have previously done. Patches really help beat the cravings and give it long enough I'll beat the habit. Woohoo!!!!!

thats great atherhel....keep it up and update us.....we have lots of hope for you to drop the cancer stick.
Olsenka, how are you tweaking your progesterone? Could you share your tweaking process in detail? I oo am trying to add progesterone to my cycle. But I find it really difficult to judge when I should add it as my cycles have been really wacky for the last year or so (after ivf try no 3). For example last month I had a 34 day cycle with vitex, but one before that was about 45 day long. The two before the long one were 30-31 days...thats when I made some serious diet changes. For the 45 day cycle I had fallen off the wagon and consumed lot of halloween candy and gained a lot of weight.
BTW, what happened to Ouchy? I have not been around for a while now.
