One of my good friends accused me of faking. How mean! I feel so awful to be accused of faking. I've been feeling terrible for the last 4 days and to have someone tell me I'm faking!? God that's so mean! I'm really hurt about that!

That's crappy - both that you're feeling yucky and that you've been accused of being a liar. Focus on feeling better before you take on the other!
Hope urgent care was able to help you out! Any thoughts on what may have triggered it or that it lasted so long?

Stress is a huge trigger for me, my neurologist begs me to keep my stress levels down. Hope you are feeling better Jenaya. Did urgent care help you out? Alot of migraine meds on the market some with side effects that are worse then a migraine. Ask your doc about the magnessium oh and if your bleeding alot and your iron is down that is a trigger too. Iron supplements if that is the case. Good Luck! They are horrible. Oh and your friend calling you a liar ignore it you have so much on your plate right now.

I have had migraines, I wonder if this is related. I know with me weather and stress do not help! Since we threw out the condoms I have been experiencing more headaches and endo symptoms. You just can not win for losing

I'm in the process of getting a lap to determine if I have endo, but I do get frequent migraines. They start 1-2 days before ovulation, then I will have them intermittently until the end of the period (usually 6-8 migraines a month). I've had migraines since I was in grade school. If I don't catch it early, only Imitrex (sumatriptan) will work; however, if caught early then 1,000mg of Tylenol usually works. I try not to use NSAID products.

I finally went to the neurologist today and despite being voted one of the top neurologists in the DC area, he SUCKED. He prescribed me THREE drugs. once he heard that I've had chronic neck pain, he didn't listen anymore. No tests, no imaging, no nothing. Just drugs. One of the drugs he prescribed me is a freakin anti-depressant that has horrific side effects. WTF? I didn't go for f*cking depression, I went for migraines! I read some online reviews about this drug and one thing people complained about the most is weight gain. I JUST lost the weight I gained from being on birth control, now this! UGHH! I just can't win! I'm willing to try it, I don't really have a choice. I have all these freakin drugs to take and I'm supposed to log my symptoms for the next two months and then follow up. GAH! I'm so frustrated.

jenaya - sounds like more typical B*LLSH*T on the menu. hang in there. if it aint one thing it's another.... hope you feel better.
Sometimes I just let them prescribe whatever they want, and just don't fill the scrip right away while I process, research, and makeup my own mind. Especially for 'just-in-case' stuff. Example: when I had HSG test, the tech/nurse person prescribed an antibiotic 'just-in-case- they had accidentally given me anything... I still have the scrip, didn't fill it, because I knew the 1 in a million chance that the test had given me some odd infection, wouldn't justify having diahrrhea for a week and feeling crappy! Also, just this week a PA standing in for my regular doc prescribed Micronor, which I let her write the scrip for, just not sure I really want to take it!
Of course you are totally medically savvy. Just reminding you, it's your body, you know it way better than they do! You can always wait a week or two, do your homework, and then make a decision you are ok with, rather than rush in and take a bunch of crap you might not need, or might have more side effects than benefits!

Yeah that's good advice. I ended up filling the stupid scripts. I did read up on them. I just know know anymore. My migraines render me completely disabled and I just can't afford to miss days from school. I just want to run away. UGH

Can I chime in with my try-to-find-the-real-root-of-the-problem advice? Are they hormone, stress, nutrition/allergy related? And didn't you say a while back that acupuncture helped them for a while? Nothing worse than feeling like you can only be drugged up to get relief...

Jenaya sometimes a antidepressant is also used for migraines. I was on topamax and it was for my migraines but also used for depressed and bipolar people. I had a reaction so not on it anymore. Neurotin and Celexa seem to help with mine but must be taken everyday. I believe neurotin could be used to treat depression as well but my neurologist gave it to me for headaches and seizures. Imitrix and Midron also are good drugs that friends have used both gave me reactions. Try what he gave you maybe it will work. I know when I first looked up topamax I was like WTH I am not bipolar! Naratriptin also is used but will only work after you have the migraine its not a preventive drug. Knocks my girlfriend out! She said that one also can be used as a antidepressant on some patients. Good Luck! I am right there with you on the migraines if I have one I am out of comission till its over. Here is a sight for you to check out on suggestions of meds. Alot are used to treat depression too. www.healthcentral.com/migraine/find-drug.html

Aww you gals are sweet. I decided to give the meds a try. The Pamelor (antidepressant) was a very low dose only to be taken before bedtime. I took it for two nights and i swear I'm not gonna touch that crap ever again. It gave me like a 5 hour long anxiety attack and I couldn't sleep! I was losing my mind! I tried it again the second day and it was the same thing! So, ya know what? F* the stupid pills. I still have the anti-inflammatory I'm taking and I have another drug in case I get a migraine. I'm a little leary of the drug because it is a barbituate. I'm NOT a fan of narcotics or any drug that makes me feel intoxicated. UGHH!! So Karen, I'm soo with you. I've always been a person that advocates for getting to the root of the problem and not masking it with drugs. I don't know why I didn't push for answers when I was there. I guess I was just annoyed and wanted to leave. Next stop is accupuncture. I really hope it helps like it did before.

Aw, sorry you had such a reaction! That's awful.
Have you read up on magnesium & migranes? Some people claim to get relief with supplements, might at least be worth looking into & a cheap thing to try. fingers crossed for acupuncture!

I'd like to find the root of my problems, but there are just too many migraine triggers, and I've had them since I was 8. Jenaya, I definitely feel for you.
I've been on antidepressants, before, and I still got them multiple times per week. I've been on the triptans, too, and they SUCKED. Anti-inflammatories don't touch them. Allergies, hormones, TMJ, weather. All of these things trigger them.
One thing that I must let you know about, though: The barbiturate stuff will likely decrease the effectiveness of any birth control you're on, even the ring (as I've come to find out), and you might have some cramping and/or spotting, especially if you have to take them for a few days. This has screwed with my cycle on more than one occasion, so it's kind of a "lesser of two evils" situation.
Best of luck, and I hope you get to feeling better, soon.
