It is that time of the month and every month around this special time for me I have a terrible migraine I stayed in bed most of the day today with a heating pad on my lap and my Jackie O glasses on in the house for the migraine ouch the light is just to much to handle. I can not take anything for it but I was able to go into work to day my these lights at the library really can inhance the migraine. Not sure if I can make it here 2morrow I so wish I could try something to get rid of it but I am so afraid of medicine right now that I am just struggling thru it. Anyone have any alternative suggestions. My dogs made it worse I think non stop barking the A/C guy was in and out all day and our handyman was at the house too and gosh I felt like I was going to die. Work tonight was my safe haven away from all the noise. Thank gosh for the library peace atleast until 9 pm LOL!

That "HeadOn" stuff with the annoying commercials works pretty well. If you realllllllllllllllly want to help it, I use Ben Gay muscle rub on my head and scalp, wherever it hurts!

Hmm, didn't I read elsewhere that you were going to try acupuncture? Perhaps that might help a bit if you're able to get in tomorrow?

I HATE those "HeadOn" commercials. When I see one on tv, it gives me an instant headache, which is sort of counter-productive! But yeah, annoying!

Very good idea Thanks:) I wonder if I should just start setting up appointments around this time of the month and just kill two problems in one visit. I will have needles all over me LOL! I have not set up my first appointment yet with Dr. Chin but when I call I will have to ask. Thanks girls have a good weekend:)

I've had migraines since I was a kid. A couple of years ago I went to a traditional chinese medicine practioner and they did accupuncture then gave me this funky tea to drink. I swear to you I went TWO WHOLE YEARS without getting a migraine! I've been getting them again lately and I need to go back and have them stab me up again! I swear by accupunture and I recommend it to anyone!

im having the worst migraines ever and i dont know where they are coming from!!! ive had headaches before, but nothing this bad. I mean, these things are lasting for DAYS!!!!! ive been off lupron now for about a month and im not sure if thats any relation between the two. I at first thought i needed a new eye prescription but after coming back from the opthomologist today, nothing has changed! They are so bad that they make me want to throw up. Friday i left work early because i was dry heaving in the bathroom and laying on my office floor in the complete dark with my garbage can next to me and an ice pack on my head. Vicodin doesn't even kill them! what do i do?!?!!?

Sorry to hear that jjuls and jeyana. I went through two really bad period in my life plagued by migraine. From the age 11 to about 16 and also when I came off the BC pill in my early twenties. It was clearly linked to my hormones because once that settled they went away. Migraine tend to run in families, my mom, aunt and grandmother all suffer. My grandmother told me she got really bad migraine during menopause, one a month for over a year that were so bad she had to stay in bed for a couple of days, so have all that to look forward to!!
I found lack of deep sleep was the trigger. If I was tired at all I got a migraine. It meant just going to bed early no matter what and especially before a big night out, which really sucks when you are young and what to be out having a good time.
Diet is also a big trigger. Leaving too long between meals was also a trigger for me. I think it was something to do with my blood sugar levels. I would get hungry, start to feel tired and then get a migraine.
A friend recommended the herb Feverfew to me for migraine but as they seem to be under control at the moment I never tried it.
Has anyone else tried this ? May be worth looking into. Hope you feel better.

I get migraines in the week to ten days before my period every month...probably due to estrogen. Mine are occular migraines which mean they start off with the aura of flashing geometric shapes in my field of vision, then comes the headache and upset stomach. ibuprofen usually works pretty well if I take it as soon as I see the beginning of the twinkling flash in my eyes.

I had an MRI today for my migraines, i get them daily i really would like to slam my head against my desk, in hopes that it would make me feel better. Im so nauseated!!! I doubt anything will show up on the scans and they want me to take topamax, which i am more scared of than lupron!! Sigh. I tried to put my TENS unit on my head the other day, hahah bad idea.. someone make it STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!

I also figured out that I was allergic to green tea. Green tea gives me horrific headaches. Have you tried midrin? I used to take that.

I have experienced migraines for about 8 years. My doctor wanted me to take some kind of benzo to control it, but the first time I tried it made me feel like I was drunk. I didn't like that, so I just deal with them. I will have a migraine for weeks at a time. It will start in the morning one day after I am up for about 2 hours and I will go to sleep with it and wake up the next day with it and so on and so on. It makes it very difficult to actually go to sleep. I do not know why they are so bad and last so long though.

I get migraines too. Normally 2-3 a month before my period. I take Imitrex - which I call my wonder drug as before I found that nothing worked. I used to get a lot more but about a year ago I cut out processed foods. I try to eat only food that I've made myself - although sometimes I slip )

I've never been a migraine sufferer (knock on wood) but read recently that some women get relief from taking magnesium supplements with a migraine. I have no idea if it's valid or not, but it might be something to consider researching a bit more.

I've had a migraine for 4 days. I've never had one for this long and it's scaring me. i'm going to urgent care today. I'm so upset because these are so disabling. I had an exam and a lab today which is completely impossible for me to do. I hope to God my professor takes the note from the doc as a good excuse. They are so strict about missing exams.
