Okay. We wore the Ergo today at the zoo. It is soooo awesome! My husband could wear her just by adding the waist strap (he's chubby. lol), and when removed, I didn't have to adjust a thing! You don't have to mess with buttons or snaps or anything. Just loosen the chest straps and slide her through the top. Pull strap to tighten, and voila! Baby's on ya'! I saw 3 Ergos today, a Beco, and a ring sling. I also saw a bunch of crotch-danglers and wanted to cry. There was a newborn in one. Poor thing!

Ouchy, ok i have searched for all three baby carriers you have mentioned ergo, beco, and patapum and all are pretty expensive. You said yours was fairly priced right? Where did you get it from?

Oh, tiff! My back is actually straighter since I started wearing her in the Ergo! It's amazing! And I've been wearing her more than an hour a day! My tummy is getting toned, too, since it shifts the weight throughout the back and down to the hips! It's awesome!

Thats great...nothing better than getting in shape while doing your normal activity. I think I def. need to get one now. Maybe it will help flatten my tummy LOL

Oh yah. And it's good for up to 40 pounds, but has been weight tested w/ 90 pounds! You can even use it for a newborn! It's seriously like the best carrier by far! And, it's open construction is good for hot weather. LOL! I should be a spokesperson!

Sorry for the gross ignorance, but I'm confused. What's the difference between the Ergo and the Baby Bjorn? It looks like the child is crotch-dangling in both. I have a Baby Bjorn from a shower still in the box and am wondering whether to return it.

Look at how the baby is in a "seated" position w/ the Ergo and a "crotch dangling" position w/ the Bjorn. The Ergo makes a seat and draws the legs outward into a "seat." The Bjorn dangles from the crotch. I'd totally return the Bjorn. Ergo Bjorn

Also, with the Ergo, you can wear the baby on the back, hip, or chest. There is no option to wear the baby facing outwards. Facing outwards can actually be overwhelming to the baby in a crowded place or witnessing an accident or fight or something. When facing out, the baby can't turn in to the parent's chest to turn away from overstimuli. The baby can still look around in the Ergo, and if something is really super interesting, you just slightly turn to the side. We've never had a problem with not being able to face forwards, but there are plenty of times baby puts her head on my chest to turn away from things, which wouldn't be possible with outward facing positions. For your own posture and spine/back/shoulders safety/health, I totally would NOT go with the Bjorn. The Ergo is...ergonomic. LOL! I have a really crappy back and I can wear her all day! We've been going to the zoo, and I've been wearing her even on my chest for hours at a time uphill, etc. My thighs are really getting toned as a plus! And NO back pain!

Thanks! That makes total sense. What would we do without you, ouchy?! :-)

^Buy bad carriers. LOL! Oh. And it's good for up to 40 pounds, but they've tested it w/ up to 90 pounds. You will have to buy an infant insert for it, though, if you're planning on using it for a newborn.

Hey, I got another carrier from a shower and tried it yesterday. It's the Infantino 6-in-1 infant rider, and it seems to make a seat. www.babyultimate.com/17249.html It's much cheaper than some other carriers, but it also isn't comfortable to wear for a long time. I'm going to keep it anyway. My little guy loved it! Except he still has to face in, so he got bored when he was awake and alert. I guess my boobs are only interesting for so long when he isn't hungry. :-D I'm also thinking of getting the Peanut wrap. Have any of you used this or one like it? www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2857285

That one actually looks cool! One of my friends has a Peanut and loves it! Also check out Hotslings. MUCH cheaper than Peanut. I just bought one for one of my friends on this site. Their "everyday" version is on sale for $35.00 with free shipping, and they accept returns/exchanges. www.lastellablu.com/shop.php?useraction=main&c=hotslings

Ok, so I've been using that Infantino carrier for a bit now, and though I do like it, it has a couple drawbacks. First, it's not that comfortable to wear for more than an hour or two at a time. Second, it seems like the shoulder straps gradually loosen the longer you wear it, especially if you're walking around. It's not enough to make me think it's not secure, but it's annoying to have to tighten them.
I got the Peanut Shell, but it was too big so I had to exchange it. Hopefully the smaller size will arrive today. I'll let you know how it works.
I also got the Ultimate Baby Wrap, which is basically a very long strip of cloth with ring fasteners on one end. I haven't used it much except to practice putting it on, but I think it's going to work out really well. My only concern right now is that it doesn't seem to give enough neck support for a new born.
