I made a realllllllllllly neat Mei Tai (Asian baby carrier), but bc I have a bad back, I haven't been able to wear her much in it now that she's weighing about 15 pounds!!!! My husband and I went to a natural parenting baby store, and we tried her on in an Ergo! It's AMAZZZZZZZZZZING! I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to babywear! It totally moves the weight from your shoulders down to your hips! You can wear on your chest, hip, or back! This is what we ordered! ...and this... ...and an extension waist strap for my husband

We registered for a Snugli for our baby shower. I carry her around in it every I go. Expecially now that she is getting bigger, I think close to 17lbs now, it is too hard for me to carry her around in her car seat and she likes to be able to see and be apart of the action. The snugli carrier we got can hold the baby either facing forward or facing you and the carrier can be turned around to where you are carrying them piggy back style. I like it because it was in our price range but has a few settings. It can be worn where the weight is on you shoulders or where it is on the hips. And it adjusts every where so even with my husbands bigger build he can still adjust it and it fit real comfortable. here is the one we got- Only ours is in black www.babyage.com/products/0761816_evenflo_evenflo_front_and_backpack_carrier.htmWe got ours from Babies R Us but I was unable to find it on their online site.

Oh no! It's a crotch-dangler carrier! Those are bad for babies' spines and hips!

Really? My pediatrician has seen her in it and said they were great, she never said they could potentially be harmful to her.

I've heard they are bad for their hips, as well. ANd I'm not sure this is true, but I heard it'll stunt the growth in their hips. Have you heard this, Ouchy?

Okay. Babywearing is great, but it does have to be in a non-crotch-dangling carrier. Baby Bjorn and Snugli are crotch-dangling carriers and so not the best choice for baby's spine as all the weight is put on the crotch/spine. Check out this link. www.continuum-concept.org/reading/spinalStress.html

No prob! And you can get one of those Ergos or similar--Patapum, Beco-- for pretty cheap. They're less expensive than the Bjorn if you know where to shop! I wanted a Bjorn/Snugli before I read about different carriers. But then I thought about how I'd like to hang by my crotch for hours at a time. LOL! That's before I knew they were dangerous. I imagine baby boys' testicles get a good crushin' in a crotch-dangler! Awwwww.

OMIG! LOVVVVVE the Ergo! Just got it in today! It's so easy to piggyback her! She lovvves it, too! She laughs when I bend down or lean over! She's asleep in it now on my chest. There were absolutely no red marks on her legs at all when I took her off earlier.

LOL! Yah. God meant babies to be toted in backpacks. It's very comfortable! I highly recommend the Ergo!

Hey all, I was wondering...is a Baby Bjorn harmful if you only use it occasionally and not for constant babywearing? I'm thinking about maybe a fifteen minute trip to the grocery store and things like that.
My sister's going to lend me her sling, too, but I'm TERRIFIED that the baby will fall out of it or that I'll put it on wrong. My husband has also flat out told me he won't wear it because he's terrified, too, and the Baby Bjorn seems so much more secure.
Thanks, ladies!

I would still get an Ergo. It's priced nearly the same as a Baby Bjorn, and it is way easier to put on! Plus, 15 min. w/ an Ergo on will feel like a spa to your shoulders compared to a Baby Bjorn! W/ the Ergo, there are no buttons to fiddle with like the Bjorn, and you can wear it several different ways. Also, if you want the baby from your chest to your back, you just slide the baby around and dont' have to undo attachments except for the chest strap. Ergo. Ergo. Ergo. I've heard that the Beco and Patapum (spelling?) are very similar. I'm never worried that she'll fall out in the Ergo. I was worried that I'd misbutton the Bjorn, though!

Oh yah. When choosing a carrier, ask yourself if you'd be comfortable in it--would you want to be dangled around by your crotch while someone is walking perhaps briskly? Gosh. I'd say with a little boy that would be murder on his teeny balls and weenie! OUCH!
