I read about dr's using birth control pills, and a drug called lupron, which i just read about on the board, really have no clue what it is, or does, and i wanted to know, do you have to go on any kind of meds after a lap? we are trying to concieve, and i definately don't want to be on any birth control, or anything that would be dangerous to take during pregnancy.
thanks, so if it sounds stupid, iam just learning about all this stuff.
hugs, michelle

You don't HAVE to do anything. Your doctor might pressure you to take something, but you never have to. I didn't! It would probably be a good idea to discuss with your doctor the fact that you are trying to get pregnant. That has an effect on how you treat the disease, and anyway if it turns out that you don't have endometriosis, you can then investigate other possible causes for your infertility.

Yes I agree that the best thing that you can do is let your doctor know that you want to have a baby. I had my lap in October of last year and got pregnant in July of this year. The doctor tried Clomid before and after surgery and it didn't work. His last attempt was giving me diabetic meds because he said that lowering the blood sugar sometimes makes women ovulate more even when they are not diabetic which I'm not. I don't know if that is what helped because I didn't take the pills how I was supposed to or the fact that my husband and I went swimming on the day that we conceived. Maybe the cold water woke those little soldiers up.

Babygirl! You've got to have a new name now. Your situation is giving me hope. I'm wondering tho from Oct to July what your endo was doing. Did you feel it or did your Lap tone it down? My Doc also perscribed metformin(if that's what you were taking) but I havn't filled it yet. I"m still hoping for a miracle.Maybe...the met drug is...hmmm So happy for you!

Yes Ouchy and May the prescription was metformin. I did feel my endo symptoms from Oct - July and even more so. I think that the Clomid made them worse, and my husband would agree. He said I was unbearable on Clomid. I'm happy that my situation is giving you hope, and I wish that it gives hope to more. I had already given up hope, and it's a terrible feeling to give up hope. When I gave up all hope I literally felt like my heart was ripping in half. If all else fails you can always try the swimming pool with your hubby.

Metformin is commonly prescribed for women w/ PCOS and who don't ovulate regularly. Since a lot of women w/ PCOS have diabetes or pre-diabetes, metformin is a common prescription...and somehow I guess it helps women ovulate (even if they're not diabetic) by reducing insulin levels??? My doc. tried to get me to take it, and I'm not diabetic, either. I now induce my ovulation by taking soy.

I checked the private messages Ouchy. As always you are so helpful! One question - What is PCOS? I didn't know that Soy could help induce ovulation. How do you take it? Is it in pill form?

Baby bonnet-nice.Sorry to keep this up too much but just wondering...did you think before you took the met drug that your body was having trouble ovulating? & ouchy, If thats the purpose of the drug and I think I'm ovulating just fine, what would the reason be for taking it? This estrogen level thing and other hormone issues are my concern for possible early miscarriage. But I'm no Md, just wondering, if soy acts like clomid What does metformin do in relation to what I think may be going on w/me? Thanks for the info Bonnet about the endo. Thats crazy. I feel as if mine has gotten more active since my lap.

I never thought of my body as having trouble ovulating, but did think of it as not ovulating as often as it should because my cycles are no shorter than 38 days or so.
