Hi all so I'm from Ireland, 32 and newly diagnosed with endometriosis. When I was 16 I used to complain of a sharp stabbing pain in my left side. Had tests was put on birth control and i don't remember been given a diagnosis.
Flash forward to now, married almost 4years came off birth control Xmas 12months ago. Auntie flow got steadily worse over the months, one of the early ones was so heavy my sister asked me if I was having a miss. Pain was bad at times during AF but never bad enough to miss work.
We ve been trying to conceive for over a year now. After a few months I asked doc for blood tests just to check for rubella immunity, progesterone levels etc. progesterone was low and combined withthe way time of month was (one month had bleeding for half month between spotting &af) so next was 4rounds of clomid. No positive so next was to test hubbie.
For us that meant private fertility clinic 1hr away. Hubbies results were little lower than should be but not bad, he was told to take vitamins and scheduled for retest. I had vaginal scan which showed I have fibroids and a bulky uterus. Consultant recommended laparoscopy and said dependant on hubbie results we could try iui.
I Had lap at end of jan, which showed my left ovary totally stuck and left tube blocked. She said stage 3 endo. (my mom also had endo but she didnt know until she had a hysterectomy in her fifties, she had 4 of us). I got my period the morning of lap so she couldn't see the fibroids.
Hubbie results were worse seond time around than first. So now consultant recommended straight to ivf and I had to have a hsg so she could check if fibroids were affecting the shape of my uterus. If so she said i would need another surgery to remove them.
I Had hsg last week with a different consultant, who told me both of my tubes are clear! She Said I have two small fibroids but didn't comment any more on them.
So now I am waiting to talk to my consultant to see where we go from here. I've read you are very fertile after hsg and lap so hopefully we may get lucky in next few months.
Apart from the infertility my endometrosis doesn't have a hugely negative impact on my life. I do have pains during month which I am prob more aware of now I am tracking my body signs for fertility and now that I have diagnosis. I always just thought the pain in my sides was ovulation I know now that doesn't make sense as it hits both sides more than once in a month.
I am trying to transition to the endo diet, I have many reasons. I think it will help our fertility issues, I may lose a little weight, general better health and I am conscious that from what I've read symptoms can get worse over time. I'm only bc free for 1 year so I wonder what would happen in another couple of years. I think most of it is gone for now, I want to keep it that way! So far finding this site great, really helpful resources especially for questions about the diet ! That's it from me for now ;D
