surgery!
I went in Wednesday afternoon, and was checked in by the staff. It was the Maryland Surgery Center for Women, which was a very nice place. I didn't have a pre-op, instead I met with my doc before the surgery where she answered a set of questions I'd emailed the day before.
I got my iv put in, and sat for a bit with my husband. Then when ready, the doctor and the nurses and the second surgeon all walked me into the OR and I got up on the table and they put on an oxygen mask. I joked with the surgeon a bit, and then a second later, I woke up, and asked what time it was. My nurse told me it was 2:45. OK, a little over an hour, that's worrisome. I then asked if they found anything, but the nurse said I had to wait for my doc. I felt around for incisions and found 3, which was encouraging. My throat hurt REALLY badly. After some water and crackers, the doctor came over. I have endometriosis. She found three spots, all of which were removed. She said it was all stage 1, and the worst was a spot the size of a dime on the back of my uterus near my spine. She excised that one, and burned off the other two because they were smaller. I was sent home with some Vicodin and instructions to make a follow up appointment in a few weeks.
Recovery is going well. I felt almost normal leaving the surgery place so we went to fill my prescription and get some food. That ended with me throwing up profusely in the grocery store parking lot, heh. I slept pretty much the rest of the day, and sat like a zombie in bed for the second and third day. Today I got a shower! That was fairly exciting. Tomorrow my parents are bringing me food, for which I am very grateful. I'm tired of cooking myself lean cuisines, heh.
I'll keep everyone updated on my progress. Right now with painkillers my pain is roughly the same as before surgery, so I expect it will get even better! My back already feels better in a weird way.
The doc commented that it's been a very good thing that I've been on continuous bc for as long as I have, as it could have been a lot worse. She put me on nonstop bc (no more breaks 4x a year) and said we'll talk about future plans at my follow up.
Overall, I'm greatful I went through with the surgery and am SO grateful for you gals on this forum!!! I cant even tell you all how comforting and valuable this forum has been!
Typos courtesy of Vicodin and my iphone heh.
