I ended up in the ER today and found out I have an umbilical hernia. Looks like I'll have to have surgery sometime next week. 2012 really isn't starting out the way I had hoped.

The Dr. at the ER thought it happened because of my last abdominal surgery for when I had endo and had to have my appendix out. They found the hernia right where they took out my appendix. They didn't operate on me last night because I was so constipated. I have to drink some Miralax and then call them on Monday if I'm not feeling better to schedule surgery.
It just sucks all around, but there's really nothing that can be done besides surgery. The pain is unlike anything I have experienced and it's hard to move around. My Mom is coming down on Tuesday hopefully so I'm glad I get to spend some time with her.
Love you girls. Thanks for always letting me rant and rave. I feel terrible. I feel like that's all I do these days.

Nicolle, will they look for endo while they are in there? or focus just on the hernia? Is it laparoscopic?
I'm so sorry, Nicolle. and don't apologize. We do have threads specifically for this!!! Hugs.

They want me to make an appointment with a general surgeon so I think they will just be focusing on my hernia. I don't feel comfortable having a general surgeon dealing with my endo. They may be able to take a look and let me know what it looks like in there. I don't know whether or not it will be laproscopic. That's something I'll have to speak with the surgeon about on Monday. Unfortunately the ER Dr. yesterday didn't offer me many details or explanations. He did say that my uterus looked normal on the cat scan and so did my right ovary. They couldn't find my left ovary on the cat scan.
I'm almost afraid to be honest. I'm afraid it will be a mess in there again. I guess I could talk to the general surgeon about the endo, but I feel like if I was going to have endo surgery again I would want excision and the hospital that would remove my hernia don't have Dr.'s that do excision surgery.

So i found out today that stress does play a part in pain level. I was on an air plane getting ready to land while already feeling some pain and the pilot comes over the speaker and says "unfortunately when we attempted to raise our flaps, they did not work. We will be approaching our landing faster than normal and will be followed by emergency services. You may see some flashing lights and emergency vehicles. The good news is that Portland has really long run ways." Needless to say I noticed an increase in pain while waiting out the landing. There was also a lady seated near me on the plane that said thank god we're not landing in Pittsburgh or we'd be f*ck!ng dead. Not a pleasant travel day. All is well now and i'm snuggled up with my heating pad in the hotel room.

i think the stress makes it worse b/c of all the tensing--at least that's my experience. Glad you're safe!

Me, too! A few years ago, I was tracking my pain levels religiously and noted that when my company was leading up to a downsize (which we were all aware of), my pain got worse and worse. Come to find later that I tensed those muscles all day every day, and when I was stressed, I knew it got worse.
Anyway, sounds like you were completely justified in being tense! Goodness, I couldn't imagine the stress of that kind of landing! Glad you're ok, hun!

The last two days at work SUCKED BALLS! I think things have calmed down now, but I was under so much stress for 2 days that I woke up today totally stiff, feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Not cool!

I officially HATE Wednesday. I am in class from 10am to 10pm with NO break. And, I go ZERO sleep last night. I'm so grumpy and exhausted. I have no idea how I'm going to survive today.
