so i have not yet cut out dairy and wheat completely....i am a vegetarian so I do not eat meat (fish and sushi at times) and i do have problems with candida as well, so i have just recently started watching my yeast intake ( i LOVE carbs) but i still find it difficult to find other things to eat that is wheat free. i have noticed a lot of women on here have cut out the wheat and dairy, so can i ask, what do you eat??

The meals I'm eating most often at the moment are soups, risottos and tacos. There are lots of gluten free options these days, even for things like pasta.

see the problem for me is what to eat as snacks....once i am home then i don't have too much of a problem with cooking, but at work (i work 7am-7pm) i tend to get hungry, and bring those 100 calorie snack packs, but all of those are made out of wheat somehow. i also tend to have candida often as well, and i know with that you should stay away from yeast and sugar....so if i cut out yeast, sugar, meat, dairy and nuts, there isn't too much left

Whats wrong with nuts??? There a bit of a staple for me. Best thing you can do for work is at the beginning of the week make up your own containers of snacks so all you have to do is grab them much like a prepackaged snack you buy. Lots of options: - Dried fruit - Nuts - Vege sticks with dip (like a mashed avacado with coconut milk) - Fruit slices with nut butter (tahini is nice with apple, and u can use lemon juice on the apple to keep the slices fresh) - Rice crackers on there own or with dip - Can make a spread using soft tofu (if its still included in your diet, marinate it, and it makes a nice spread) - Can buy gluten free crackers, chips, that make a nice snack) - Salsa is also a good dairy and gluten free dip (check the label) - Preprepared salads, especially a rice salad can be quite filling - Premade gluten free pasta that u reheat can be a good option, and soups in colder weather - peanut butter and a sugar free jam on crackers makes a nice alternative to biscuits - Cut up fruit, like grapes and strawberries especially can be tasty, and u can freeze them in summer - Yoghurt (if u still have that, the endo diet does allow that as an option, check the label though, can have additives u dont want, ideally a natural yoghurt with your own fruit or maple syrup added to sweeten) - Precooked indian dahl, also heats up nicely at work - You can get gluten free biscuits, generally they still have sugar, but is a better choice if your going to do the wrong thing Will let u know if i think of any more Hope that helps

yes it does, thank you! there are so many things i have read/heard that i should or should not eat, that i don't really know anymore! along with the endo i have the following issues: GERD, IBS, ulcer, gastritis esophagitis (inflammed stomach and esophagus lining)....so it seems really difficult to maintain a diet that will support all of my issues. i love fruit but it gives me horrible heartburn. i know i need the nutrients in them so that is why i was looking at those juice plus supplements i had posted also on here....I am still doing research on that to see if it is worth trying or not. and thank you for the tahini option, I have a jar and I had NO idea what to use it for!!!

No worries, i love tahini, can make hommus with it too if u like. If uve never made it its just a tin of chick peas, some lemon juice, olive oil, bout a tablespoon of tahini, crushed garlic clove all blended up, and some extra water to get the right consistency. Alter the amounts to suit your taste (even my 2yr old niece will eat it, so it must be ok ) I think youd find that alot of those conditions will respond well to the same sort of diet. I have GERD too, i cant control it with diet, have tried, over and over, i just have to take the meds. All of those conditions should respond well to cutting out wheat, diary, sugar, caffeine. The fruit thing is a problem, and i know the anticandida diets tell u not to even have that, but i love my fruit, and rely on it as a snack. You might need to keep a food diary, and try and pinpoint the foods that cause problems, diets are individual, none of us should follow any generic diet, including the endo diet, and need to follow what our bodies tell us. I for one can eat eggs just fine and thats not part of the diet. Do you have that problem with all fruit? maybe do a test cutting out all fruit and then slowly introducing one type at a time and see which ones are ok. The other option is to consider that it could be the coldness of the fruit, so other than not keeping it in the fridge, could try having stewed fruit like apples and pears (can stew them in orange juice to sweeten if u prefer), that would sit much better in your stomach and cause the least aggravation. I dont mind some sesame seeds sprinkled on stewed fruit either, to add a bit more nutrients and for variety. Also could try adding stuff to aid digestion, like psyllium husks, or ground flax seeds maybe. Are you on probiotics? that could also help keep your tummy happy, its worked great for me. Another option, which ive never tried, is digestive enzymes, might help you tolerate more foods. It can be frustrating the diet stuff, im still working on mine (my appetite is still pretty poor). When i first started looking at diet stuff, the info seemed conflicting, but i just listen to my body now and that works best. As far as the supplements go, as long as its all natural, it cant hurt to try, the most it will hurt is your bank balance. You will know if something is helping, especially if you only make one change or addition at a time.

i love hummus, but have not attempted to make my own...sometime soon i will though. starting next week i am going to try and cut out dairy, sugar and wheat....i cut out my daily coffee so if i can do that, i hope i can do the rest. wheat is the hardest for me. even the health food stores around here don't have a very wide selection of gluten free products. the only fruit i can generally eat is honeydew and melons. anything else causes havoc for the stomach area....i do take probiotics and enzymes...they do help. i found some website of organic whole food supplements, but i am still a bit sketchy on if its worth the money or not!

man that would suck with the fruit.
How does dried fruit go? lol, im running out of ideas, i dont know, it must be hard to work around such restrictions.
Alot of people who go gluten free buy there own breadmakers, that can help, the bought stuff just isnt that good. I havent bothered, buy my mother in law has celiacs and i get some off her sometimes, its not bad toasted.
Thats annoying the selection being so ordinary, around here theres heaps gluten free u can buy. Can u at least buy the pasta? ive found that pretty good, have to stick to the instructions, but is always pretty tasty.

i have tried some pasta, it's not totally gluten free but close, and it has more protein than other brands, always good it honestly second to the endo, drives me nuts. i love food, different cultures and the food there, so with so many restrictions it's horrible! japanese food is my favorite, and although it is pretty healthy, i *should* stay away from the sushi rolls and tempura noodles, buuut...that doesn't always happen. it's too good. lately i have been eating nuts in the morning (i have to wake up at 515am...grr..) although it would be nice to be able to make some eggs--cheezit's as a snack (not too good) yogurt (it helps my digestive probs) and lipton veggie cup a soups....lets just say i have been giving them a lot of money lately. Miso soup is good too, with the protein and low cal. I think I am going to travel an hour away this weekend to go to this huge health food store and see what i can find there!!

I was having "snack attacks" too trying to find acceptable things to snack on. Someone mentioned hummus which you can find pre-made in many grocery stores (I've found all natural varieties in ours)..I've been having roasted red pepper hummus with organic baby carrots this week, black olives, roasted/salted pumpkin seeds and some wheat/gluten free oatmeal animal cookies that are really good, especially dipped in almond milk. I have a major sweet tooth so the no chocolate/sugar thing is a killer...I'm still having things sweetened with molasses and evaporated cane juice, if that counts.

YUMMMM for your veggie trays!
If you're having a sweet tooth, try Stevia! It's 300x's sweeeeeter than sugar, yet it doesn't break down in to carbs at all! Diabetic safe! I've been using it since 1995 or so! I use the powdered brand by Kal. They also make it in a liquid form.

My moms been using Stevia for a while... I remember that it comes in a greenish like package. I rarely use any form of sugar, so I just keep Splenda in the house.
I've cut down on my dairy intake hugely. It's funny - I never really drank milk to being with because I've always thought it was gross, and as soon as I cut it out... I crave it!

I am so afraid to got full way with the endo diet because I LOVE my carbs and sugar and am afriad I wont be able to stick to it. I am more aware of what I eat and try to not over load gluten and sugar but I fins it very very hard. My daughter is allergic to the protein in cows milk and since I am nursing I can't have dairy any way. So one down and 2 to go
